  1. Sanders could make it or he could end up another project that never comes close to his potential. It's not going to be this year and I'm not expecting next year being more than an improvement but it should shed light on how his development is going. The standard right now is Thomas who isn't good in the passing game and his blocking isn't much better. Once Thomas is back out there Meh-ing it up it should give him some time and a very catchable goal to chase.
  2. Me either on the freaking out part, none of that please. No big move on the personnel side is going to un-fug what they have done and what came before. It's just obvious Evero is out here either way here, they already blocked him and he can't be happy right now ruining his career while he isn't turning this around. That's a dead man waiting already, fair or unfair he is getting scapegoated at some point looking at all the angles on this trajectory. It's likely to buy DC and DM time but I would just be happy doing that soon vs then to get started at evaluations from another angle. Just getting a little more out of what is here would be a win, like miniscule or just noticeable change. A well run no talent D would be a positive change IMO. He wasn't installing his D well when people were healthy. They had one good series on Sunday and then it looked like no talent mixed with bad coaching the rest of the time with guys dropping along the way. And I'm embracing the suck regardless. I can say what I want to see but I fully expect it to stay in the suck until it stops. I am done with optimism when it comes to the Panthers until who knows when. Sorry if I gave those vibes but I would love to burn that house down, drown the ashes in bleach and let someone else build anything else in it's place.
  3. It not over because they can't just forfeit the rest of the games. Same take when young was playing and people said there was no reason to play Dalton. Well turns out there were reasons even if winning isn't one of them. I look at this the same way. Evero is part of the problem, he isn't building a damn thing here, he already wanted out and it would be good to get a look without him. A couple more games like the last one and it's even justified.
  4. Maybe they can raid other PSs and find some upgrades. Tjat seems plausable given their aquisition choices. I also don't know how they can make this less of a desirable spot either. It was alread at the pay premiums to have anyone come here anyways. Given it's Tepper's money I'm not against him wasting more of it.
  5. Love Cam but I have always disliked that show. Yikes
  6. Not yet for sure but if they can bring someone in short term to try and squeeze any positives out of that unit after a few more weeks of the coaching we saw on Sunday then I wouldn't be against it. That's not even scapegoating, it's just getting a better evaluation on a guy who is obviously going to get fired anyways. The season was over before it started, some people just couldn't see that either. I know you were not one of those. I just don't see why you can't see the value in a different angle of evaluation by moving on from Evero if this continues. It doesn't fix anything but it does give a wider evaluation to the guys here by handing it over to someone else and saying 'do something, do anything' with that unit for the back half of the season. Evero was coaching down to DC's level on Sunday. Both had 12 man penalties, both had a bad game strategy and both didn't adjust squat that I could see (I know it's me and that bar isn't high). There is no way a DC on a historically bad D isn't part of the problem. That should be obvious. In season firing seems justifiable if he can't coach up guys to just look talentless and not talentless while also being poorly coached.
  7. It really wasn't. Offenses scored at will. With the bad field position and Young led offense they didn't need more yards. That was always a mirage and not an achievement. If they needed more they wouldn't have taken their foot off the gas in so many games so early. Also some of those guys left because they didn't want to return here which also says something...
  8. It's week 6. A couple more weeks of bad coaching and I would then be fine with it. I am not impressed with his coaching. Again it's the same as last year. One guy looks bad but it's not what it looks like because the situation isn't perfect? 1. You can know by what we have seen when you look at it big picture. Not 100% but enough to see which way this is going. 2. There are tendencies like the lack of pressure even when the D was healthy. 3. They keep targeting guys who shouldn't be here and that's in the last 2 years he has been here in charge of that side. Last year everyone had a voice and this year it's a supper green offensive HC that's to consumed with learning and running his unit. You really belive he didn't come back to this poo show without more input than last year? He isn't the guy to be building a D. He looks like a guy who can take over a good D and not immediately implode. That's what he looks like to me.
  9. I said a chunk of it. I have also blamed DM for his part as well as the years if poo show before. He is so overhyped here. He absolutely deserves plenty of the blame. He has been in charge of his unit with 2 offensive HCs who were not very interested in being hands on with his unit. That was supposed to be his bag, taking care of the D so the HC can focus on the O. It appears he isn't a good talent evaluator and I'm not convinced he is a guy to build a D because of that.
  10. They can't figure out their own D so what makes you think they are going to figure out other team's Ds? Brutal chart
  11. Evero's guys are a big part of the tallent issues. The D was also not good last year just like Young was a big part of the problem. We can and should do better than Evero. Saying a chunk of this doesn't fall at his feet is some 2024 copium. Just go hire Sleigh and watch it start improving with this perpetually crappy built roster.
  12. It's really bad and injuries make it worse but they also allowed this D to come into this year with these guys as the talent injection on a depleted roster? DT A’Shawn Robinson (agreed to terms on sign three-year, $22.5 million deal) LB Josey Jewell (signed three-year, $22.75 million deal) CB Dane Jackson (signed two-year, $8.5 million deal) OLB D.J. Wonnum (signed two-year, $12.5 million deal) OLB K’Lavon Chaisson (signed one-year, $5 million deal) S Jordan Fuller (signed one-year, $5.25 million deal) S Nick Scott (signed) OLB Jadeveon Clowney (signed to two-year, $20 million deal) With a draft class like this — Buffalo's first-rounder (No. 32 overall) — WR Xavier Legette — Indianapolis' second rounder (No. 46 overall) — RB Jonathon Brooks — New York Jets' third-rounder (No. 72 overall) — LB Trevin Wallace — Their own fourth-rounder (No. 101 overall) — TE Ja'Tavion Sanders — New York Jets' fifth-rounder (No. 157 overall) — CB Chau Smith-Wade — Buffalo's sixth-rounder (No. 200 overall) — DT Jaden Crumedy — Pittsburgh's seventh-rounder (No. 240 overall) — LB Michael Barrett Mike Jackson has been good thankfully and super early with little tape but Wallace showed some promise in a tough roll on Sunday. They weren't going to build a top D this year but they could have also done better than that. We lost freaking Luvu and I think Jackson is an upgrade over the old Jackson. Brown and Thompson were not going to save that D if healthy given what was around them. That's on the GM and DC for not doing better. They literally missed on all but 2 guys so far while expecting their passrush to be an old Clowney? Since Evero and DM were here last year lets add 2023's guys DL Shy Tuttle (signed three-year, $19.5 million deal) S Vonn Bell (signed three-year, $22.5 million deal) DL DeShawn Williams (signed one-year, $1.1 million deal) LB Kamu Grugier-Hill (signed one-year, $1.3 million deal) DB Eric Rowe (agreed to terms) And that draft Round 1 | Pick 1 overall (from CHI) Bryce Young, QB, Alabama Round 2 | Pick 39 overall Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss Round 3 | Pick 80 (from PIT) DJ Johnson, EDGE, Oregon Round 4, Pick 114 overall Chandler Zavala, G, NC State Round 5, Pick 145 overall Jammie Robinson, S, Florida State That's how you build an all time worst D right there. Burns is doing nothing in NY. Luvu wasn't coming back anyways. I don't see how DM and Evero get a pass for such terrible work over 2 years. I would think a blindfolded dude throwing darts at a draft board and free agency board could do better than that over 2 years. It's not just a talent on the field problem IMO. And yes DM was AGM in 2023 but he was the GM's right hand guy and the pro-personnel guy so even taking that into context it still stinks.

    4-3

I like Brown at DE. He doesn't get stuck as the big guy in the middle and takes those double teams out wide. For a 3-4 DE that should free up the passrush to do some fun things. This team has just stunk at their edge approach. Brown only had 2 sacks last year but the O has to account for him. They get one guy who could be decent in a tandem but they never have a decent 2nd option. Like WTF is going on at the other OLBer spot? They can't get backup quality play out of one of those guys in run game and any sign of life at all in the passing game? The NT spot could use an upgrade. The problem I have with that spot is all of those guys are under 310 and I thought they were supposed to be the biggest dlinement in a 3-4? That doesn't seem right to me IDK
  14. Pretty much. I think his hype got a little out of control but it's a position we have needed an upgrade at for a while now. Like you said a project in the 4th isn't bad like in the first and second.

    4-3

Doesn't matter if they keep brining in people who aren't very good. That's a way bigger issue then which scheme to pick IMO. Not like we could find 4-3 ends the last few years in that scheme.
  16. No it's not. That's why both OGs came from teams allowing them to walk after their rookie contracts ran out. I said cheaper not cheap. Also hard to have a good oline when your C is on IR and aren't both OGs banged up already?
  17. One would have been a splurge, two was an overreaction and showed how bad Dan is at all of this. Following it up with a hurt RB in the 2nd when the other options would have been better than the guy who he traded into the 1st for is a poo show type moves. The OGs don't hurt this year, they hurt when we are paying both $36.25 million next year because of course they lowered both's this year cap hit because of freaking course they did.
  18. Not cheap, cheaper than the top 2 most expensive guys. Dead on about the draft but then we would need a good draft and those haven't been happening. Just buying the most expensive free agents isn't a recipe for sucsess or teams would be winning their seasons in March...where those teams usually do their only winning when they spend like that.
  19. At what cost though? I would have been much more impressed with cheaper OGs that played well and chunks of that money spread around elsewhere. DM gets credit for the Jackson and Johnson trades but both those guys are on 1 year rentals so the complete story isn't finished yet. Both good moves in cost and returns. The rest is very debatable.
  20. If we drafted the better WRs we wouldn't need Johnson, he would be redundant. Unfortunately we keep drafting the wrong kinds of WRs that can't run routes or catch the ball correctly/at all.
  21. It was but I was just agreeing with KFD and said CP had a crap take by breaking down the 1st game with Young under center. If I came off that way it wasn't my intention. I also like the Gross comparison where you have a guy who could be better elsewhere but fills a huge need at LT.
  22. He has been solid and your comparison to Gross being better somewhere else but the best we can find at LT is a win fits. Blaming him the first 2 games while ignoring the next 3 is just flat out a bad take IMO. He is graded well and he looks solid so I have no idea why everyone wouldn't be happy with what he is doing now.
  23. Grading him blocking for Young is a waste of time. Young held the ball too long and dropped back out of protection too often. That's all on Young. The Ds also knew exactly what he couldn't do so they just dialed the blitzs up and ate his lunch. I don't think Joe Thomas could have protected Young from himself. He has looked better with a decent QB under center. He still had stuff to work on and signing 2 OGs at top market value makes it unlikely we will see him at OG anytime soon. There should be zero 7 step drops in the modern NFL. Carr proved that and is how he got Carr'ed.
  24. Because those people put it out there and it's terrible. It's like the freaking wannabe Kardashians keep getting hired here.
