  1. Lol, its crazy that people after all this time still downplay DJ. He consistently put up 1000 yard seasons with some of the worst QB play imaginable, and then goes to Chicago where WRs go to die and puts up almost 1400 yards. Is he a top 3 WR? No, but its not like he was a top ten pick, if you can get a DJ Moore late in the 1st round you would take that everytime.
  2. We are in no position to get rid of our best and most dependable guy on the line in Moton. Hes rock solid and never misses games. 30m is a huge cap number, so Id imagine they find a way to re-work the deal so both sides are happy. That is literally what Tillis is supposedly great at.
  3. Yep, if for not anything else to help rebuild our reputation with coaches in the league. I don't think it was the wrong choice to can Reich, it was a disaster and that man had no juice left, but now is the time to at least give Canales 3 years. If you are going to hire a younger guy, theres going to be some growing pains a long the way. If in a few years its not turned around, then at least you showed you are willing to see it through.
  4. I saw he responded to Panthers Culture on twitter. I hope for his own mental health he stays off Panthers Twitter going forward lol, its not a good place.
  5. Any word on his introductory press conference? Do they probably wait until after this weekends games?
  6. That makes sense, his best bet for having success is probably here, in year 2 with his defense rather than starting fresh somewhere else. Will hopefully have a healthier defense as well, so I guess from his point of view, if hes looking to be a HC he probably stands to have the best chance here if he has a good year 2.
  7. Yeah, my only concern with Evero is its now the second time you have passed over him for HC, I know if I was working at a place and two years in a row I went for a role and they chose someone else, I feel like I might harbor some resentment. Hes a professional, but he may want a fresh start somewhere else... but yeah Im not sure how thats usually handled. I know "technically" he cant go elsewhere if its a lateral move, but if hes unhappy, I dont think thats how you want to start things off.
  8. Yes, Reich felt like he was looking for an easy gig at the end of his career, I think that may have been Tepper's plan all along, have Reich bring along Thomas Brown then retire... unfortunately, Reich seemed exhausted and done.
  9. You keep Evero on as DC unless he gets a HC job, if he leaves after this year you get a comp pick.
  10. Thats definitely someone who will come in and create a culture, and hold players accountable. My only concern is the offensive side of the ball. Maybe Arthur Smith comes with him? He probably wont be in line for any HC gigs anytime soon, so maybe he would stay for awhile.
  11. I have a bad feeling about letting Evero out the door, it just feels like hes going to be successful and he was right here.
  12. Careers are short in the NFL, its largely a myth that they go to the best situation, they like to say that but ultimately the money talks. If two contracts are similar, then sure the situations are the tiebreaker. If we offer Mike Evans/Higgins the most money/years, they will sign here.
  13. I agree, I would like Canales or Eviro tbh. I think if we are going the DC route, Id prefer Eviro over Morris, Id also probably prefer MacDonald over all the defensive options, not sure how highly sought he will be.
  14. Yeah, Im surprised we dont have anything with Slowik, maybe he told us nah Im all set. Demeco Ryans Im sure is in his ear after he declined us and his thing about 'making sure Bobby goes somewhere he can be effective'. Felt like a direct reference to the Panthers lol.
  15. Yeah, the press conference thing is very true, people mocked Dan Campbells' and I remember Sirianni got memed for his run on thing about 'creating systems so we can be fast' or something. Even Mike McDonald people thought wouldnt work because of that conversation he had with Tua, just didnt sound like a HC, but maybe thats a good thing. Rhules press conference the media loved and we all see how that translated.
  16. Yeah I think it was just the Dolphins. It is a bit strange no one else has interviewed Canales, seems like if you are a youngish OC with some success you get a look. Even Thomas Brown got a HC interview.
  17. Yeah I agree, I like Canales, but hes not at risk of going elsewhere, you can do the due diligence of meeting in person with some of the higher demand guys and if you decide you like him the most, then hire him. The only ones they may need to move quicker on would be Morris/Eviro if they wanted to go that route, but I feel like most teams want to at least meet with Johnson, MacDonald, Glenn etc
  18. Think theres any chance that happens? It just seems weird theres been no talk of any other candidates... especially after Tepper has been clearly chasing Johnson.
  19. Yeah I dont think they are super well ran compared to others, I even put into question organizations that are considered well ran when they have one great QB, like say the Patriots, where I think most of it was attributed to one QB carrying them for awhile. The organizations like the Ravens, 49ers, Packers, Chiefs to me feel like the best run organizations, it seems like every year they are solid at worst, and no matter who's at QB they find a way to make it work and keep chugging along. Hell, the Packers are about to go from Fevre, to Rodgers, to Love, who probably isnt as good as the first two, but looks to be a guy you can build a team around and compete for a Superbowl.
  20. Yeah the OC poaching is definitely a concern, feels like you need to be constantly bringing along new guys to replace your current OC, but at times that feels unsustainable, not everyone is going to make a good playcaller, so eventually you will probably be in a bad spot like the Eagles after losing Steichen. I guess I do view MacDonald as not only a brilliant defensive mind, but also a culture changer. I think I would put the Ravens up there with almost any organization, they seem to always be in contention, well run etc. I guess my main concern with him is how much of his success is the organization/ecosystem they have built. I feel like it's probably a lot easier to have success there, things are in control and not toxic, he probably hasnt faced half the issues he will face here in trying to change a culture, so I dont know how that will work out. I guess if hes a good leader, he would sort it out.
  21. Yeah I like Canales as well, probably not my first choice, I'd really like to make a run at Mike MacDonald if the Ben Johnson campaign doesn't work. I have a feeling that Tepper is aiming to really go all out for him, it makes no sense how quiet we are on the second interview fronts when he's pined over him for two years. I feel like if they lose Sunday, he may be waiting in SF with a stack of cash lol.
  22. It is weird we haven't announced a second interview for Johnson... Is there a chance of something wild like Tepper just going there and offering him a contract on the spot after Sunday?
  23. I don't get it, what would we gain by not announcing second interviews? Would that infer we want to hire someone whos available right now?
  24. Yeah, I'd hope they wait and really see some second interviews through, this happened with Rhule and Reich, its like they get so swept up with someone they don't wait the process out and just hire them. I think that can be good if you have shown solid judgement in the past, but thats not the case here. Id like to see second interviews with MacDonald, Slowik, Morris, Johnson (even if you have no shot) etc, and then go from there. Its even more of a no-brainer if Canales isnt in contention for other HC jobs. It seems like they cast a wide net, then when some hires start happening panic and fall in-love with a candidate and rush to hire.
  25. I think something people miss with citing these betting odds is that the only thing the book is truly concerned with is making sure whoever gets the job is near the top of odds, they don't care if they have a wild name like Kellen Moore at the top, because these odds aren't like traditional betting odds, you cant take the "other side of the Kellen Moore bet" (i.e. Essentially laying a bet against a Kellen Moore hiring) like I have seen people mention around here. The site stands to lose exactly zero money putting him up there if he has no chance of being hired, they just collect free money by people seeing he's the favorite and putting some money on it without looking into it. I get that not everyone is familiar with these types of odds, but its just something I have seen more than a few posters mention the past week or so. That being said, I did get Canales +1800 before they took it down, I assume when it comes back up, he will be much higher up on that list.
