I’m not against OL if Neal or Icky are there. I’d be for trading down if think we can land Corral or one of our top rated QBs later.
-
Like Rattler and Howell last year.
-
So there is no top overall pick we are striving to get at 1 in which you guaranteed we would finish last? We get it you are down on this class, but next year’s is far from a guarantee to be great.
-
And who is this mystery sure thing top pick next year? The OSU QB? The undersized Alabama QB?
-
I mean we are picking 6 this year with a terrible OL and Sam. Definitely not a slam dunk…

Rhule: Sam Darnold will take a huge step this year

Probably, but it also depends on who we pick. Someone more pro ready like Pickett might beat him out at camp like Mac did with Cam at NE. Most of the others probably won’t be ready week 1. -

I kind of think he should stay on the roster. Just eat the cap hit and don’t trade away players/picks just to move him. Let him walk next year and he can be our backup this year (assuming we add another). -
Maybe he thinks there isn’t much of a drop off in the first 20 or so. It’s also the reason why we might not have anyone wanting to trade up.
-
I think if Icky or Neal are there they just draft one at 6. If they aren’t then it’s pretty wide open.
-
He would be a fool NOT to regret and learn from the Darnold disaster.
-
That his throws are catchable at 10 and 15+ yards? I think it’s more if the opposite.
-
I’ve read they are down because he “regressed” this year. He regressed because he lost his weapons and his OL was awful. I’ve also see the one read and run comment in his draft profiles. He did this last year because his first read wasn’t open and his pocket was destroyed before he got to his second. It’s all relative from what I see. If you get him a decent OL and weapons (like ALL QBs need) you can get 2020 Howell.
-
What? You mean he can just flick it 60 yards down the field?? Honestly his throwing motion is fine. I like how he is already working on improving his footwork. Seems like a practice/training work horse like Drew Brees was.

https://www.pff.com/news/college-football-quarterback-rankings-all-130-fbs-starters “With Jamie Newman now gone, Pickett is in the conversation for the most accurate quarterback in the ACC, as his uncatchable-throw rate on passes thrown past the line of scrimmage was first in the ACC in 2019. His performance under pressure was exceptional this past year, too, as he converted pressure to sacks at the third-lowest rate in the Power 5 while earning a 27th-ranked passing grade under pressure. That said, Pickett failed to crack the top 100 when it came to big-time throw total, so he'll want to change that in 2020.” Sounds like he was accurate and avoided sacks, but also avoided big time throws in 2019.

I’m an Auburn fan (went there) and live in Knoxville. I could care less about UNC Football and I can see this guy is flying under the radar.

If Neal or Icky are there at 6, I think we do. They appear to be learning a little in signing two solid OL plus hiring a good OL coach. Even right now with BC, Brown/Elf, Moton plus our two two guys our OL should be much better. I mean it can't get much worse...
-
Not trying to argue, just actually curious. What flaws do you see in Corral's game that would scare you from drafting him in round 1? The main two I see are his offense was a college offense and his frame...
-
Yeah I think Corral fits what we want the best…
-
I think you are right. He fits our run heavy offense and can get it to CMC in a flash with some open space. Willis is my favorite, but Howell fits what we are looking for more, but he won't have to sit as long as WIllis IMO. Corral/CMC with the RPO would be something special.

It’s funny Willis, Howell, and Pickett (not as highly as the first two) were all thought to have NFL potential. Pickett takes his gave to the next level and dominates and the other two face solid years with some regression (due to OL in my opinion), and suddenly they are terrible. Corral was on the radar as well and performed very well cutting down on his turnovers which was his biggest weakness. Corral and Pickett had big jumps and people think that can’t continue? That shows they are coachable and can develop their game further to me. Willis on the other hand has as much potential as a Trey Lance who went 3 overall in last year’s great class.
