The clean pocket stat can be misleading. If there isn’t a clean pocket more times than not even with a clean pocket the QB is expecting pressure. It’s how David Carr’s career got ruined. He always had happy feet and was expecting to get tackled even when there was a clean pocket. Gase’s play calling did him no favors. Think Shula’s stubbornness of not leaving a TE or extra help on the line while drawing up long developing plays. Not the best idea for a rookie with a terrible line. My main concern with Darnold is his alarming number of turnovers in college against PAC 12 defenses... I know he was relatively new to the QB position, but he hasn’t shown he isn’t a turnover machine yet on either level (I can almost give him a pass on the Jets shitty situation). If he was this raw potential talent that can be coached up, more teams would have been trying to trade for him and we would have had to give up more for him. My expectations are hopeful with a healthy amount of doubt...

He also wears braided belts...

We could also give him Little’s old number and watch defenses get surprised when he actually blocks them.

https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/30174871 Looks like Fields is vegan. Didn’t Cam start getting his injuries after he went vegetarian? Might be just a coincidence...

Wouldn’t be against trading down before him. Don’t see a huge drop off to Horne, Newsome, Farley, and Samuel...

Nice breakdown of Darnold. Interesting to see how bad Miami and NE had his number, but he wasn’t so bad against the rest of the league. That could even be Miami and NE knowing what Gase is going to do because he was too stubborn to adjust his game plan. Teddy has peaked and Darnold can still develop into something better. I’m just concerned he is going to keep us in the middle of the league unable to draft a top QB again next year, but I’ll gladly watch him over Teddy again...

What would you give up to trade up to 4?

Falcons would make us pay dearly for their pick. Also I think Denver is below us at 9 unless they trade up. -
The “Deep OT class” may not be as deep at LT in scouts eyes

Well yeah every scout isn’t going to agree... -
Former Jets scout Daniel Kelly on Trey Lance

I’d be very happy with any of those 4. We just need Lance to get drafted ahead of us and one should fall to 8 with Lawrence, Wilson, Mac, and Lance being the other 4. -

It may be the best chance to trade down for a nice haul if he is.

This might be too good to pass up. My initial thought is there is two good QBs next year in Rattler and Howell, but I don’t see us being one of the bottom two teams. The cost to move up to get one is ridiculous. The extra capital now in a deep draft is huge and we can package our two firsts to trade up next year if needed.

Yep if a high valued QB became randomly available you know we would be all in on him. If Watson’s legal issues were proven to be illegitimate (don’t see this happening) and he was cleared we would be right back on board trying to get him. A future 2nd is a small sunk cost to upgrade your QB.

Wait? He told me he was working late again?! That bastard! -
Because our secondary was that bad.. these guys are at least capable. I think Bouye will be solid. He had some injuries and was getting a big salary plus had a down year. He looked legit in Jacksonville as the number 2 CB just a couple years ago.

Sources are telling me we are just bypassing the draft to help make sure we get a top pick next year. -
Bouye, Melvin, and Jackson (being healthy) should help some. Plus Chinn and Pride having more experience.

Slater review as a nfl left tackle plus link on all tackles
ForJimmy replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Neither at 8. Trade back then sure. I want an potentially elite high valued position at 8. Especially if 5 QBs go ahead of us.
