Getting Crunch Time for the Panthers and Brian Burns
ForJimmy replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Getting pressure is pretty important as well. Incompletions and hopefully interceptions can come from that. I pointed to his sacks last year and you said they didn't come at game saving times so I am showing they were next to zero opportunities for those type of plays do to the offense sucking. I'm not a die hard, but just saying you may see him take off on another team once he gets more opportunities. I hear fans crying about CMC and DJ all the times now, trade Burns and you might get more of the same. -

That's a fair argument. Just when he gets more opportunities and continues at his rate you might have some pissed off fans like we are with CMC and DJ Moore. -

the block, so he can either create pressure or get a sack providing the QB doesn't adjust accordingly. -
I get the theory about the hair but they actually put a pin through the players hair to get the official measures. Pictures have different depths and angles but he was measured at "officially" 5'10" and 1/8. The same as Murray. Weight can fluctuate so it's easier to cheat with that but height just is what it is. It's kind of funny Mahomes was pissed they used the pin because he thought he had an extra inch with his hair. “I like to say 6’2 and ¼, you know the hair adds a little bit you know, alright, I was definitely 6’2 exactly at the combine. They went straight through the hair, I gotta have the hair up longer a little bit a little extra length and they just put a little pin straight through and got me.”

He gets doubled as much as TJ Watt and wins 3% less of the time according to this data. -

I’m just telling you he wins 1 out of 4 times. You want game saving plays yet we had 0 4th quarter leads and teams could just run at us in the 4th to seal the deal. Thad’s lack of opportunities. -

This shows he wins 1 out of 4 times (6th highest in the league) while being double 15% of the time. He just has had less opportunities to get more sacks because we rarely have a lead. -

Found this interesting… -
I know his combine weight was inflated but most scouts have Young at 190. So yeah Murray as 17 pounds on him before Young adds any weight after his rookie year. 14 pounds can be added that quickly, 24 or 34 would be a tough task for anyone. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10073266-nfl-exec-says-bryce-youngs-weight-was-manufactured-for-the-combine-ahead-of-draft However, one AFC front-office executive told Dan Pompei of The Athletic that Young's weight was "manufactured" for the event. "His weight was manufactured for the combine, then his agents didn't allow him to get weighed at his pro day," the anonymous executive said. "He's a 185- to 190-pound guy frame-wise." Numerous scouts told Pompei that Young weighed about 190 pounds when they visited Tuscaloosa.

Yeah this always confuses me too. I keep reading Brees was WAY taller. Brees was 6 foot and 1/4, Russ was 5 foot 10 and 5/8, Kyler was the exact same height. The funny thing is Caleb might not be 6 foot. USC has him listed as 6 foot and 1 inch, but I keep reading it's more like 6 foot even or possible a little smaller. The whole narrative has to be adjusted to make us look worse (which I mean it isn't necessary we screwed up plenty as a team). Young was the same height as a recent top pick, most people had Young as QB1, the Texans wanted Young and inquired about trading up to 1 for him. It's turning into Young was the shortest ever and we reached like crazy for him because Tepper made us.

Just saying don’t come down so hard on Smitty like that. A lot of people had Young as QB1. -

You wanted us to take Bryce. -
Young was QB1 on a lot of boards. Some people are just wanting to rewrite history around here.
