  1. He is a PANTHER now! https://nevadasportsnet.com/news/reporters/ex-nevada-star-carson-strong-signs-with-usfls-michigan-panthers#:~:text=Former record-breaking Nevada quarterback,Pack career from 2018-21.
  2. I've heard from a couple people on here Jim Caldwell might be the deciding vote if the staff is split of Young/Stroud. It's a complete guess, but his expertise definitely holds a lot of weight. He has had a hand in 4 Super Bowl winning QBs: Brad Johnson, Peyton Manning, Joe Flacco, and Matthew Stafford. This would make you think he prefers pocket passers, but that was also the trend back when he was coaching. Just throwing some more info out there for us to all argue over....
  3. I get it. It's just playing style. Running around in the backfield, eyes on back of head, 6th sense type of plays. It will be interesting to see how it translates without the arm talent. I mean Young's arm is capable, but definitely not elite.
  4. Happy Birthday! and no you just missed a bunch of Stroud/Young debates.
  5. Yeah, that's why is Mini Mahomes or Mahomes lite. He lacks Mahomes elite arm strength and about 4 inches in height. Honestly Mahomes' arm talent is a huge part of what makes him so special.
  6. You prefer the one that is Young's ceiling? No way?!?!?!
  7. Burrow is Stroud's ceiling. Mini Mahomes is Young's.
  8. Seems a little extreme. The counter is if you pass on him and he becomes the next Mahomes what happens?
  9. I’m more than ok with us taking him. He has a great QB mind. He has a chance to be special. I just can’t sit here and say his size isn’t a concern.
  10. If this is true it’s more than likely the same QB Houston wants. I believe that’s Young right?
  11. I mean Young was trying to put on weight before the combine to "have a frame that's going to hold up." So I guess someone needs to tell him that lower weight doesn't mean more injury? https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10062995-mcshay-bryce-young-working-on-trying-to-get-up-to-210-pounds-ahead-of-nfl-draft
  12. Correct again a much larger sample size. He stated because Young was small and did great in college will be small and be great in the NFL. Heisman winning QBs usually struggle (Burrow/Cam aside) at the next level despite their size. Young's heisman (from a data view) is not a great thing.
  13. Most QBs fall into a certain height/weight range. So looking at previous data (especially when dealing with one as unique as Young) seems pointless to me. My point is if we want to review this OP's data and claim Young will be healthy I can pull other data showing he will suck. Too many variables like how good was the OL, What kind of offense did they run, what was the injury etc...
  14. Eric Crouch, Baker Mayfield, Johnny Manziel, and Troy Smith all crushed it as undersized college QBs. How did that work out for them?
  15. No this data shows that smaller QBs won't be as successful in the NFL. That a player of Young's size will be less accurate and throw less TDs than a player 6'2" or taller. This is all about relating physical data to QB success right? Or does it only count when he helps the particular player you are wanting?
  16. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/147430-the-quarterback-position-does-size-matter OK so according to this shorter QBs are going to be much less accurate and throw less TDs? Again most QBs are going to fall into the 6'2" and over group so I think the data is going to be heavily skewed.
  17. Yeah if 99% of QB starters are over 6' tall then most injuries are going to occur to QBs over 6' tall... I mean I'm not sure what this data is suppose to prove?
  18. I mean you asked. At his size his is strictly a shotgun QB and I would be very careful with QB sneaks for that one yard. I think our staff is good enough to use him correctly and cater the offense to his strengths, but it will be limited to a degree.
  19. I think that's spot on. He probably wasn't accustomed to pressure with that OSU OL in front of him. Once teams were able to get some pressure on him, he started adjusting his play style. I have nothing against Young. I think he is a phenom on the college level, I just rank Stroud higher as a NFL prospect but think Young can still be great. I have it close enough to where I would be happiest if we could get Houston to move up and take whoever they don't want plus the extra picks.
  20. Then why even throw? Did Carolina specifically ask him to throw? Of course not. These teams are just down here to observe the players and get to know them. He was also throwing the deep ball to show he has enough arm strength. Why did he do that? I find it hard to believe anyone thinks he weighs was Murray weighs looking at them side by side.
