So you think McAdoo has developed Sam into a starter? Are you willing to pay Sam starter money for this type of play and keep McAdoo as the OC? I think it’s more Wilks than McAdoo wanting to run the ball to eat clock, and try to lean on his defense since that’s his background. If our running game dominates like it does against bad defenses then our offense looks great. Hell over halfway through that game Foreman was averaging 10 plus yards a carry and Hubbard was at 15. Those are unreal numbers. The counter is when we play good defenses that can contain our running game like the Bengals, Ravens, and Steelers our offense crumbles. The best comparison I saw was Tannehill on the Titans. As long as they have a lead and Henry is rolling he looks solid. If Henry struggles or they get behind, Tannehill isn’t able to elevate their passing game. Dalton is kind of similar. They can look the part when they are asked to do very little. It’s a decent bridge or backup QB option, but I want something better or with higher potential on our roster

Yep when the running game gets stopped we can’t win.

The good news is with Rodriguez getting healthy we can have a good kicker competition this preseason and both are somewhat proven now.

He definitely had his best game today. Wilks or McAdoo opened up the passing game and he hit some big throws.

I could see that. He can steady the ship if his running game is doing great, but if they get behind early and they need to lean on the passing game it’s a struggle.

He has 2 sacks and a PD. As usual you have the worst takes. You have to be full of poo about ever coaching a team…. -

He already has 2 sacks from when the game was actually closer. -

Definitely his career high. Just need to play teams where we can average 10 and 15 yards a carry with our RBs and he should be ok assuming he doesn’t have too many pass attempts. -

That’s the issue. People are wanting Wilks with Corral and Darnold. That actually might help us land your boy Maye though…. -

He has been historically one of the worst starting QBs in the league over his 4 plus years as a starter with different teams and OCs. Outside of that…. He was good last year until teams took away his first read and made him attempt to read a defense, in which he couldn’t do… He can be serviceable when our OL is letting our RBs crush the other team and his attempts are limited. Like I’ve said before as a cheap backup I’m fine with him. Rolling into next year with only Sam and Corral won’t end well. -

He has 12.5 sacks on the season so far?? That’s not acceptable, but Darnold’s stats have been?? -

Yeah I don’t get it. We as fans should want better than Darnold, but some how it has become a thing?? He has looked good today but Foreman was averaging 10 yards a carry and Hubbard was at like 15… -
Haener is solid, but looks a little undersized and already has an injury history now. I’m interested in O’Connell and need to do some research on him. He is interesting, because he his team was probably outmatched from a talent standpoint vs other Big10 schools and he is still getting some attention.

You have to account for transfers. Especially when Mullens left. They looked completely awful without AR in their bowl game. It’s why Auburn was so bad too. A bunch of players transferred out because of Harsin…

I mean when Sam got off IR he was still rolling with PJ. Then when PJ struggled he rolled with Baker, Sam was his last option. Darnold was cleared off IR on Oct 19th. Sure the 23rd would be rushing him back, but Wilks played Walker on the 30th, Walker then Baker on Nov 6th, Walker again on Nov 10th, then threw in Mayfield on the 20th because Walker was banged up, and finally started Darnold on the 27th once he eliminated Baker (from performance) and PJ as possible options. Darnold was his last option which I assume means he preferred Baker and PJ over him even when playing Baker could have changed our conditional pick we traded for him. Gameplan was pretty much the same as they all are bad starting QBs at this point. I think we are saying similar things. Fields has potential, but isn't there yet. Sam shouldn't be a starter, maybe a backup if the salary is right. Wilks is nothing special at HC, with maybe Rivera being his peak....

You said he was “too short” to be a QB. You are completely wrong. You better backpedal quick because that was the easiest thing to prove wrong.
