  1. Both things can be, and definitely are, true. The issues compound each other.
  2. Interesting rule there with the rugby-style kick. Haven't ever heard that discussed in-game.
  3. And then the receivers let him down when the ball is there. Just ugly all around.
  4. From anyone but Brown, yeah. That TD was between Tuttle and Gross-Matos, with the Saints letting Brown penetrate upfield to take himself out of the play.
  5. That's a route you throw over the outside shoulder, you know, where the defender isn't. Tell me you're a football moron without telling me you're a football moron. No it's not, it's a great catch made on an underthrown pass. Has nothing to do with the defense.
  6. Or paying more than cursory attention at all, really.
  7. So the Saints are tomorrow's opponent... I was not aware.
  8. Man, seeing that football in Bryce's hands reminds me of my 11 year old throwing a HS ball. I hope that's been doctored.
  9. "Most of this board" does not paint Burns as a "complete bum". "Most of this board" now recognizes him for what he has put on nearly 5 seasons of film, a sometimes very good pass rusher and limited run defender who doesn't make game-changing plays but who seems to want to be paid at that level. Nothing wrong with him looking to maximize his pay but that discrepancy has been a hot topic of discussion for over a year now.
  10. Same. I had 2 significant ones in 2 weeks during 9th grade football and, after the second one, thought that 'ice cream' was a day and forgot my locker combination, among many other things. It was not a good experience.
  11. Nah, that's a no-win scenario for him or any player, and while fans want to hear the unconditional 'Yes' there are very few players these days that feel that way. It's a business, and that cuts both ways. If he says yes, then he gets grilled on why he hasn't re-signed. If he says anything other than yes, he gets painted exactly as you're painting him. Might as well just stay silent and save it for the engotiating room.
  12. Bryce makes Teddy look like Brett Favre.
  13. Damn, that is serious. The name is pretty self-explanatory, and it's generally a secondary symptom of a TBI. Not good at all.
  14. CJ wasn't quite the pure pass rusher that Burns is, but he has power moves as well as finesse and was a top-tier run defender. I had no real issue with CJ's contract given the situation at the time (Hurney getting played like a fiddle) and always wonder if he still would have tailed off like that at the end without that POS Patriot leg whip in 2013. Never seemed quite the same after that.
  15. Listening to him talk about that during his press conference last week came across as so tone deaf, yet the whole thing was 100% on-brand.
  16. Eh, not sure about that. He seems to be a solid teammate. I don't recall him causing any outward disruption or being negative in general.
  17. Maybe 2018, but I don't remember much about that offseason to know for sure. Other than that probably 2011, 2009, or 2006.
  18. It's not even about winning, and it never really was IMO. It's about the fact that this young team was not developing or improving at all from week to week. That was always the metric for this season regardless of what the media/team outlets said, and while Tepper is a giant dumbass in many ways I'll give him credit for recognizing that and pulling the plug. The team's record could be what it is right now but if Bryce looked better, Mingo looked better, hte OL looked better, etc from week to week then Reich would still be here and it may not feel so utterly hopeless.
  19. Who is mad at him? Maybe some, but as I've said many times before calling out performance or lack thereof is not 'being mad' or 'hating'. There are also plenty of comments about the offense but those guys aren't posturing themselves as one of the best in the league, and I'm pretty sure that Bryce's play and the OL take a metric ton of flak around the fanbase (rightfully so IMO) - thus why I have also always said, and did so again here with respect to Burns, with big demands comes big expectations, big attention, and big scrutiny. Burns, like every other high-profile player, brings it on themselves when they move into the spotlight. It is what it is. Also for the millionth time, just can it with the 'hate' business. Few, if anyone, 'hates' him. To repeat, caling out performance that doesn't match demands is not 'hate'. Pointing out flaws in objective disucssion is not 'hate'. That word specifically has been rendered meaningless by uses such as this and you won't be taken seriously popping off about 'haters'. It's just trite at this point.
