Not really cup or bust for them. Well I'm not sure they keep Timo long term, the guys they traded away were nothing more than bottom tier 3rd liners/4th liners or prospects that would probably never make it for them. NJ will be very good the next several years, with or without Timo. I feel bad for sharks fan. They got absolutely fleeced in this deal and outside of the draft picks got nothing worthwhile. They are going to be Yotes/Ducks level bad for at least the next 5 years
-
If that is the case, San Jose needs to be on our "never trade with them" list. Their GM is a moron and I don't foresee him being with them beyond a few years when they are still trying to rebuild off getting fourth liner level prospects trading away their best player
-
Sounds like from the rumor mill that SJ didn't get any of NJD's top prospects, which is just crazy for someone of Meier's value (Sharks fans also were unhappy they gave away Harrington)... This is worse than Vegas receiving future considerations for Patches

Todd McShay seems to really like Anthony Richardson
PleaseCutStewart replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
That is a lot for 4 spots (I know there would probably be a bidding war for that pick though). I would like to think 9 and 39 or 9 and next year's 1st would be enough. I think the teams behind us in the draft (that need a QB) would have to give away a ton to beat that out. The question would come down to what LV or ATL would offer to try and get a QB (if ATL wants one). -
Well, if that is the case, San Jose deserves to be as irrelevant as they always have been and will continue to be

At this point, since we aren't going to trade for anyone, we might as well be sellers and ship players off... There is no way in hell we are competing against the devils, rangers, bruins, maple leafs, and you could probably throw in the lightning also for at least the next two years. I would take all of those teams over us in a playoff series

Sounds like Wilson has a case of Napoleon complex... I've always hated him and figured he was a big phony. I think he is proving me more and more right each passing day.
-
We also are lacking depth at pretty much every position, outside of maybe oline. So when (what seems like) the inevitable injury happens to one of those premium players, there is a significant drop-off in talent.

100% this Sadly, I'm on the train of don't go QB if young or stroud are gone, but let's not pretend the same thing won't happen next year with williams and maye (who I'm not sold on), and the a few other guys that will be the same tier as Levis and Richardson predraft...
-
CJ stroud falls to us at #9 Ill also take trading up to #6 for our 1st and the SF 2nd rounder we have Unfortunately neither will happen
-
Would you trade 9 for Fields - straight up?
PleaseCutStewart replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we didn't want him with the #8 pick 2 years ago and he went (i think) 15th, then why would we give away our 9th pick this year when he has looked worse than when he was in college... -
It is going to take way more than that to go to #1. It would probably take our 1st and 2nd (39) this year and a 1st in 2024 and 2025 before we are even listened to.

Poll: What do you want Panthers to do for QB?
PleaseCutStewart replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't like any of those trade scenarios. If we do trade, I say we go for 5 if Stroud (or Young) falls and that way it won't cost us an arm and a leg. No way I am trading to #1 and I think it will still take a lot to get #3 from the Cardinals. -
Chiefs made that look easy. Not good if KC can run and throw it at will against them
-
1 QB will cost us about 6 mill to keep. The other QB would cost us a 1st rounder to get. Yeah, I'd rather have the QB we can get for cheap and not give up a 1st for a QB that will be useless once his speed deteriorates
-
Yep, 1 is way more mobile than the other one. Otherwise, they are pretty much the same passer. That being said, Fields is already showing signs of not being able to stay healthy because he runs the ball 15+ times a game. Not saying Darnold is great, but Fields is not the answer at QB and the fact that people want us to give up our 1st rounder (or more) for him is just moronic.
-
Take away the Saints outlier and it's about 62% And if completion percentage is how we are going to judge QBs, then yikes. You want to know who had a good completion percentage last year? Matt Ryan. The same Matt Ryan that got benched twice for Sam Ehlinger and Nick Foles... The stats I liked a lot more. Only 3 INTs in 6 games (only 1 if you ignore the Saints stinker). Huge jump in career best in Yards/Att, Yards/Completion, TD%, INT%, and QB Rating. I could care less about your completion percentage if you are just throwing check downs on 2nd/3rd and long. Also keep in mind his passing stats don't include any games with CMC, who will make any QB look a lot better than they are.
-
The Darnold that threw for 350 yards and kept us in the game when our trash corners were getting beat like a drum by Mike Evans? I'll take that Sam every day of the week. Just weird to say the Saints game and the Tampa game are the real Darnold when both were so vastly different for him...
-
I'm pretty sure Fields had multiple games where he threw for under 100 yards. Yet the forum seems to think he is the next Tom Brady... Bad games happen. He was one of the only reasons we had a chance to win the Bucs game the week before...
-
Well said and completely agree. Yes, he had a stinker for the Saints game (lets face it - I knew the team would look bad after the demoralizing loss to Tampa to miss the playoffs and somehow the Saints still outsucked us), but the dude pretty much did everything we could ask of any non-top 10 QB the other 5 games he played. And that's with an absolute moron calling plays for us on offense. I would be curious to see how Sam would look with an injury-free offseason with a competent OC/coach and an upgrade at skill position players (either a TE or possession WR to complement DJ). Sam is not a great QB, but I think he can be solid while we (hopefully) draft our QB and give him a yearish to develop

Definitely less dysfunctional that the last 4 years. But with Tepper at the helm, I will assume we will be dysfunctional until he decides to sell.

Glad he gets to go to a team that isn't completely dysfunctional like our franchise. GL to Wilks
