OT Yosh Nijman announces heβs retiring
PleaseCutStewart replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dude waits until the start of free agency to then retire... Maybe he thought he was going to get more, didn't, and then said screw taking wear and tear on his body for a small contract -
Panthers signing WR John Metchie

We can always draft a WR. I think we are probably giving XL one more training camp and if he doesn't have it together by the trade deadline, he is gone -

In all fairness, none of them had to battle back from leukemia also. Guy missed his rookie year because of it then has had to hop from team to team. But yeah, I'll be surprised if he is anything higher than #4 receiver -
Run game will depend on if the oline can run block. With Ickey out, run blocking to the left side will be much worse. Granted, it seemed like we never ran it to the left side the last half of the season for whatever reason

We probably carry 6 receivers. Locks: Tet, Coker Likely: XL, Tremayne Battle for last 2 spots: Metchie, Horn, Moore (unless XL is traded) -

Guessing it's a cheap deal. If I recall from before he was drafted, he supposedly ran a good route tree in college, but lacked athleticism to separate against good corners. Hopefully he can be a guy that runs the intermediate routes (curl, comeback, deep in, deep out) and can move the chains for us when needed. -
REPORT: Panthers going after Browns TE David Njoku

Sounds like the fake name I use for burner emails - Dixon Cider -
Yeah, the fact that deferred contracts to this extremity were ever allowed is why MLB is a joke. The Dodgers being able to defer over a billion dollars in 2025 to pay players 15-20 years down the road should have never been allowed. I know everybody says "so what, any team can do it", but I don't think people understand how much easier it is to make money and be uber profitable in NYC and LA in comparison to Minnesota, Milwaukee, etc. I honestly think the 2027 lockout might get a bit ugly. I think the bottom-tier teams will not want a salary floor because they have to spend more (when they know their team sucks) and the top teams (yankees, mets, dodgers) won't want a salary cap because they are able to outspend most other teams because of the markets they are located in. The MLBPA obviously wants their star players to continue to get contracts north of half a billion dollars. I know most people think it will only be a month or so, but I think we are looking at a long delay (like 2/3 of the season or longer).

With these FA moves, PFF guys don't know who to mock to us
PleaseCutStewart replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
100% we are not taking a C 1st round. I'm just saying these are needs and drafting a WR in the 1st round (that will be a late 1st/early 2nd pick) will mess up position of needs later on with our draft picks. Only receivers I could see us thinking about drafting at 19 are Tate (who isn't falling to us) or Lemon (who probably won't fall to us). -

No way we are taking Cooper at 19. Not even sure he goes in the 1st round. Our FA signings have given us more of an opportunity to draft BPA at 19 (if there isn't an OT we like), but we still need a FS, another LB, OT, and C and would do well with looking at TE (in the mid rounds), DT/NT, and backup QB. And another CB (preferably nickel) -
Incoom was solely a special teams signing and will only play a meaningful D snap for us if we have terrible LB injury luck again. Gibson is a true LB depth signing and could be used more for blitzing purposes

FA Splash: Panthers sign Jaelan Phillips EDGE
PleaseCutStewart replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
What? The dude is coming off a pretty big injury last year + has been a constant source of drama for the Bengals the past few years. He is also Brian Burns-esque of he can only rush the passer and is awful against the run. I'll gladly take Phillips instead -
This. Restructuring a bum like XL would be infuriating. Restructuring a dude that is a dominant player is fine
-
Yeah, and it looks way worse because they have done literally the exact same thing like 3 or 4 other times in the past 10-15 years (honestly surprised the NFL hasn't put some type of rule in place because of it). Obviously not a player of this magnitude though when they did it in the past. Not sure it will have much of an impact on other teams willingness to trade with the Ravens, but it definitely has to hurt relations with agents and players seeking a new deal. Wouldn't be surprised to see players looking for that next contract to refuse a trade/willing to free agent sign with the Ravens
-
Don't mind the deal. At times last year, I thought he looked good. Other games, he was a disaster. Pretty much what all of our LBs were last year. I thought he actually looked good as a pass rusher when we played the Rams in the playoffs. Was arguably one of our best players to get pressure in that playoff game

While I usually agree and the Raiders are about as dysfunctional of a franchise as you will find, it has to be concerning that 1) they immediately sign Hendrickson after he said yesterday that he will make his final decision tomorrow (today), which the Ravens knew would be at a cheaper price 2) there are reports from like 10 unnamed people with other team's front offices that said this is the Ravens having buyers remorse. It's not like the knee issues with Crosby were unknown either. You would think a team like the Ravens would have done their homework before trading for him
-
I'm honestly curious how this will impact free agents with past injuries wanting to go there. They have done it several times in the past prior to Crosby and if I am a player looking for a big pay day, I would outright refuse to visit the Ravens and have a no trade clause for the Ravens to protect my value. Gotta imagine this not only hurts what the Raiders would get in a trade, but also significantly lowers the amount of money Crosby will receive for his next contract. All around dick move by Baltimore and while technically not illegal by NFL rules, it is about as bad as a thing a front office can do.
-
Wonder if this impacts Raven's trades with other teams the next few years. I doubt teams will completely ice them out, but they could require the Ravens pay a bit extra for this bush league poo
-
I think once they realized that they could get Hendrickson for under 30 mill, they got buyer's remorse. Definitely doesn't look good for the Ravens

Interesting if true

I hated him as a Saint but Iβd love him as a Panther
PleaseCutStewart replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
As much as I hate cam jordan, the one thing I appreciate about him was that he always said prime Cam Newton was the hardest QB they had to go against. But no, I would much rather have somebody like Von Miller if we want an experienced pass rusher
