Yeah, and the one thing both Russ and Baker have without a doubt is arm strength and the ability to throw the ball deep. It’s why the more I watched Bryce in college and the hype started falling off of him, you’re able to see he really just distributed the ball to insane playmakers. He didn’t wow you with throws, but he could with scrambles and extending plays - but in the NFL, if you can’t keep a defense honest with deep passes, it’s like trying to bucket water out of a sinking ship. It’s why I still am very skeptical of the end of season stretch he had last year. Yeah, there were some impressive statistics in there, but unless he learns how to consistently connect on the deep game, he will regress back to the mean. But I will say - Bryce, to me, was always a better comp to Drew Brees. He is just a more mobile version. And Drew had enough of an arm to keep a defense honest, but he was by no means a gunslinger or renowned for his arm talent. I think arm strength-wise, he and Bryce are very similar - the difference is, Drew’s accuracy in the deep ball. Even if you can only manage 30-40 yard chunks occasionally, it maximizing the efficiency of them. And I will say, when Brees really seemed to hit another level was when they added a guy like Colston - a big possession receiver he could throw it up to. And we just took Tet… so again, hoping for the best.

The fact that XL put up solid numbers as a rookie despite his drop/focus issues and the fact that he came in as a pretty raw/weak route runner is a positive though. It shows he can do damage when he does get the ball. This is why i still have hope for him... A lot of people were comp'ing him to DK when we drafted him, but I think he is more like a bigger, faster Deebo. You just have to get the ball in his hands and let him do damage... That being said, absolutely, as a pure wide receiver, Coker without a doubt is the better receiver. But, XL is a unique, intriguing piece. He came in this year and has improved his route running tremendously, and from what I've read, seems to have less issue with drops, so if he is locked in with that stuff, best case scenario is both Coker and XL eat this year and then we still have Tet, Renfrow, and JHJ bringing different elements of their own. It's really gonna be on Canales and Bryce. I say all that to say, in summary, Coker is the better WR as of now and honestly, might remain so, but XL is a weapon in his own right - his numbers from his rookie season indicate he isn't just some washout or bust.

I feel like Norman wasn’t playing not because he wasn’t good enough, but it seemed more “teaching you a lesson” -type stuff. Because he always flashed from the beginning, every time he saw the field. I think remember being pissed that we weren’t playing him significantly more early. Tbh, he really shouldn’t have been inactive those first couple years.

It’s funny, bc it seemed like the entire board believed he was a genius after that first season, but ever since, the tide has dramatically turned. I too was drinking the kool-aid after that first season, but idk wtf has happened… it’s not just injuries. Every year coaches make more with less, injuries included. There is something wrong schematically and strategically. And tbh, our defense just doesn’t look well-coached, which isn’t just on Evero but the position coaches. Poor technique, poor angles, poor gap/assignment discipline, knocking each other out of plays constantly. Idk what it is exactly, but it’s not encouraging to say the least.

Also, for the record, I said we should sign Huntley 2 years ago. he just came in off the couch and is also dotting our defense up. Dalton and Plummer been employed, no breaks, and look like pure poo.

I didn’t want to make a snap judgment on him, but he was only noticeable for pursuing plays from behind tonight. I was hoping for some flashes after all the hype, but only Scourton did that between the two of them.

You’re entitled to your opinion, brother, as am I. I’m not starting a fan club for any players any time soon lol, but I like the guys I like and I pull for them. Shadeur is one of those guys. And obviously, I’m gonna pull for all of our players. but, I think it would be a bit unfair to just dismiss what Shadeur is doing tonight. From college to the pros as a rookie, everyone knows the speed is different, the game is faster, the athletes are better, etc., it’s a huge jump. I wasn’t bringing up Bryce because of what you said about him, because I have no idea what your stance on him is. I brought him up because we gave up a ton to get him and he has not lived up to the value, AT ALL. Cam is what a #1 pick should be. He made the players around him better, carried teams to wins, and made plays happen where there were none. A superstar. A game changer. Even with all the upgrades we have made around Bryce, it’s my opinion he will never be that. He will always manage games and occasionally make good plays, but he doesn’t change games on his own. So my point in saying all of that is that Bryce was not worth what we gave up to get him, even if he turns out solid. Meanwhile, a rookie in Shadeur is out here dotting up an NFL defense in his rookie preseason debut after receiving limited reps in practice and the entire NFL passing him over for 4+ rounds, as though there is no skill gap between the college and the pros. It’s even arguable he has looked better than Bryce tonight. That is impressive. How bad our defense last year is irrelevant. Some of that is injuries, schematics, etc. it’s a new year, and even if we were fielding all UDFAs, that is still better than any defense he faced in college, talent-wise. I continue to bring up the investment for Bryce and the investment in Shadeur, because one had a trove of riches traded away to acquire him and he has struggled for 1.5 years before he finally showed any redeemable ability as a pro. Whereas Shadeur was treated as an afterthought, has had his own organization treat him like they didn’t ever want him, was given every reason to not look good, and he came out here and killed it - and again, the cost to get him was easy for any organization.

Damn these guys are ass.

I agree we need to maximize the value of our picks because we were so talent and depth depleted, but Shadeur went in the 5th. We could’ve traded somebody a future 6th and/or a 7th to get another 5th to take him. It was free money, just sitting there.

For everyone shitting on Shadeur because “he’s doing it against 3rd stringers.” So what is Dalton doing? A guy that’s knows the NFL speed and has played against the best of the best for 10+ years versus a kid doing it for the first time. again, we should’ve drafted a developmental QB after Bryce.

poo should’ve been addressed last two drafts, especially after Bryce’s early returns. I don’t understand our franchise’s long-standing stance against positional competition. It’s only a positive, yet, we don’t believe in it. Hell, the Pats drafted Luke Maye as the declared franchise QB, then drafted Milton and flipped him for assets this year to Dallas, with the implication being if Dak starts fuging up, Milton might be taking over - I.e., competition. Years back, WSH took RG3 and Cousins. They flipped Cousins for assets and he actually had a more successful and impressive NFL career than RG3. We should’ve addressed it already.

Whether that’s true or not, few QBs have ever pump fakes and sacked themselves after spending an entire quarter plus throwing poo balls. I like Andy, but he is playing like poo.

Yeah, iirc, I think Wentz was injured against the Rams and they had already clinched and I believe we’re just playing for the #1 seed, but Foles definitely played lights out once he stepped in.
