  1. this is 100% hindsight logic. The reason we went all defense is because our defense was terrible the previous year. we had a legit paper thin secondary luke retired. we lost DT's and had no edge rushers. the enitre defense was a mess. Theyve built up that defense and it is now one of our strengths. it is ridiculously hard to acquire top tier oline people through FA. if a team has a great oline man they arent just letting him walk. So you have a nonexistent FA market for oline men which leaves you to build through the draft which 1) takes time to build and 2) you have to be lucky that the good oline men in the draft are on the board when its your turn to pick. Last years draft was a super weak oline year after the first 10 picks which most of the oline men went before we event picked. So please tell me captain hindsight, what moves are you making where you are getting top tier oline men in FA and still having a strong defense because you dont get to use the top picks we did on people like Chinn and Horn. This team and any other team in the NFL lives and dies by QB. Of course we are going to have growing pains trying to replace a franchise QB. Not every team get to luck into back to back franchise guys. Some times it takes years.
  2. we were a 5 win team two years in a row. YES are roster sucked. Weve had MAJOR hole in the most important positions. Hole that it takes time/lucky to fill. You cant ignore that out of hand
  3. I think people have WAY to much emotion invested in Corral and are setting themselves up for disappointment. If he panned out, great. If he doesnt? no sweat off my back and there are better QBs in this upcoming draft who arent as raw. Plus if Baker plays as well as he is capable we might already have a franchise Qb on the roster.
  4. THATS CALLED GOING THROUGH YOUR READS! LETS GO BAKE
  5. Chubba DIDNT CATCH THE BALL!!! Its Rhules Fault
  6. they had an easy opportunity last year and their coach blew it for them
  7. No. you introduced fairness. my argument was about respect and winning a locker room over. you are REALLY BAD at this. you cant even straw man correctly.
  8. Thats part of it but also its irresponsible to ignore that Heinicke was a UDFA CAREER back up that only ever saw playing time because Fitzpatrick went down as early as he did. Did he play well for a back up in his starts? sure. Do you give that kid the keys and not look for an actual starter? no. Key words on "Actual Starter" say what you want about Wentz' ability but he is a starter in the league when he is healthy. By CRAs logic Kyle Allen should have been in a QB battle the following year. Its a ridiculous notion and CRA knows hes being disingenuous trying to push it.
  9. exactly. honestly with the majority of this fan base Rhule is in a no win damned if you do damned if you dont situation. We trade for Baker, and we instantly name him the starter so he can get all the first team reps. Thats what all the Rhule haters are mad about right? What if he sucks and the staff never properly vetted him to see if he has recovered from injury? Then the Rhule haters flame Rhule for getting another shitty QB retread and wasting more picks and holding us back from the savior Corral. Or we have him earn the spot and he clearly shows hes better so now all the haters are mad at Rhule for not giving him the starter spot day 1 and taking "valuable" reps from him. cant win with these folks. they dont see how irrational they are being. need evidence of this? look at @CRA @Mr. Scot or @rippadonn's post history. Youll find a bunch of irrational hot takes that dont even hold up to the basic levels of scrutiny
  10. BRO.... context absolutely matters. Are you kidding me? You think Rhule is going to have a mid season QB competition where a UDFA goes up against the franchises best former MVP QB? thats the situation you are trying to argue right. Just stop man.
  11. You know you are grasping at straws when you are trying to compare a UDFA to Two Top 5 Qb draft selections. Heinicke and Walker were both UDFA who were always back ups and nothing more. Cam Sam and Baker are all Top 5 Qb Selections with MULTIPLE seasoning starting at QB. You have to be trolling right? You think comparing these situations is "reasonable" Just admit you have a hate boner for anything Rhule does and you will play mental gymnastics with yourself and ignore how NFL locker rooms conduct themselves so you can take cheap shots at him. But dont sit here and pretend that you are being anything close to reasonable. I know your M/O well enough to know that you never think you are wrong and its a waste of time trying to move you from a irrational position you are dead set on. I just hope in the back of your mind you realize the comparison you are trying to use here is fuging dumb. You know that deep down im sure.
  12. This is beyond obtuse and completely devoid of how the NFL locker room works. You go off in your ignorance i guess
  13. the players on the team? Thats the whole point you seem to be missing. Regardless of your feelings of sam its clear that players on the team felt differently. i love the absolute hubris in thinking you can speak for every player/man on that team and what they value or dont. at least you are a good troll
  14. Just because you arent smart enough and a reasonable enough person to have a conversation like an adult doesnt mean there isnt a point here. Regardless of skill level you cant tell me Sam isnt a well liked guy on the team. Players may agree that he sucks. Im not arguing that Sam is a good QB. Im arguing that he is well liked in the locker room and apart of getting everyone on the team on the same page is them all being in agreement with who the leader of the team will be. You probably dont understand these things though cause i doubt many people like being around you but this is how team building works.
  15. You dont understand how this game works if you think just because people are being paid that respect isnt an integral part of 1) team building/cohesion 2) how grown men conduct themselves. You dont value respect and treating people with respect. Cool but obviously NFL locker rooms disagree with you or else you would constantly see this happen. If Rhule just gave Baker the job before he ever took a snap here or laced up his cleets it would tear the locker room in two factions. Thats a surefire way to lose the locker room and have the team implode. Again if you cant understand that then thats on you.
  16. bro you are the michael jordan of missing the point.
  17. Idk if youve ever played organized sports or maybe you are 5 decades removed from how locker room dynamics work but the incumbent deserves the respect to atleast fight for the job. You know how you can tell stuff like this matters to players? Look at how Aaron Rodgers, Brett Farve, Tom Brady, etc acted when their teams draft a QB high and dont tell them or give them heads up about it. They are pissed. They dont help develop the new guy to have him take their job. Rodgers was ready to leave GB after winning MVP because they drafted Jordan Love. You think the team would have been ok with them giving Love the job after he was drafted. The point is that vets are owed respect and you dont just hand the new guy the job even if you know hes better. Its the new guys responsibility to leave no doubt and bring the team to him. If you cant understand that then thats on you.
  18. 20 days until opening day. Im sure they can iron out snap timings in that window. You guys are seriously blowing up this competition WAAAAAY more than it ever needed to. If there are people on the team that like Darnold and respect him you owe it to those guys to give Darnold a fighting chance to win or lose. Baker has to come in and win over the locker room or the team is divided. You guys wanna zero in on snap counts and 1st vs 2nd string reps but the battle was for everyone to buy in and be on the same page. Whether you personally think Baker is better or not is irrelevant to whether the actual players in the locker room think it. Those are the minds that count.
  19. nothing about you not knowing that BS stood for Barstool sports is ironic.. try again though boomer
  20. Eh, we were targeting mayfield even before the draft back in March. I think the timing and behind able to walk away for a bit got the browns to cave on the salary aspect which was clearly a hang up from our side. although we could both be right to a certain degree I think getting Baker here was a goal before we even had Corral.
