Texans new uniforms. Past time for Panthers
PNW_PantherMan replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Thats not good and the blue ones look too much like the Titans/Oilers. -
Would you grab falling star t'vondre sweat?
PNW_PantherMan replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Haha. In all seriousness it really depends on how the draft falls. If its the 4th or 5th round, and he's the best prospect on the board... I don't have a problem with the team drafting him. My main red flag with someone like this, is we're trying to build a culture from the ashes here. Bringing in guys with character problems may not be the most productive way of doing that. But I'm not a head coach or someone who knows how to build a team culture. -

I get that he would fill a need if he pans out. But the thing is, we don't have to fill every single need this year. And I don't think we should be trying to. If this year's class is so weak at that position, that the best prospect we can get is a 4th or later guy with character issues.. meh. Get somebody you feel better about at a different position of need, and worry about pairing a DT with Brown next year. -
Canales ran this man into the dirt. Nearly 300 carries at 3.6 average lmao.

We don't need someone to carry the load at RB. But, we could use one that is strong as a receiver to pair with Chuba. If there is someone like that late in the draft, I would think about taking them.

His playing days are already over. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Fletcher_(American_football)

Nice write up. I still can’t believe JJ McCarthy is where he is.

Anthony Rizzuti's realistic Panthers 7-round mock draft
PNW_PantherMan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
So it’s realistic -
I'd say its too early, and it is. But the dude was honestly one of the most awkward players I've ever watched. His body movements and sense of direction were puzzling at times. The only recent player I can think of that looked awkward like that was Chuba Hubbard as a rookie. But, he made rookie Chuba look like a natural.

Trading down is a very easy way of getting absolutely nothing for your draft picks. See Scott Fitterer for a great example.

Panthers extend defensive tackle Derrick Brown
PNW_PantherMan replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
His PFF grade went from 60 to 90. If you thought he was gonna do that then props. But he was not good as a rookie. And he was billed as a man ready to play. -
Matt Miller: 1st round could have 8 WR’s
PNW_PantherMan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It might have been easier to pay big money at receiver and go for offensive line in the draft. Since the draft is so deep, a lot of receivers were being given away this year. But then again I don’t know how good the class is for guard.- 48 replies

Matt Miller: 1st round could have 8 WR’s
PNW_PantherMan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean it depends on the draft class. Look at the receivers taken in 2020. Tee Higgins was the 7th WR taken at 33 and Michael Pittman Jr was taken right after him.- 48 replies

Kirk Cousins and Brock Purdy weren’t taken in the 2nd round. I think the difference is significant.

Great move getting that done now.

It makes sense to take one from a roster building perspective. But from a team culture perspective, using a pick that early is basically a vote of no confidence in Bryce.

Did Scott Fitterer draft any good players?
PNW_PantherMan replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Short answer: No. Long answer: It would be Horn if he could actually stay healthy. He has been good when on the field, but he hasn't really played enough for us to know how good he is. Has he really been challenged yet? Regardless, only hitting on 1 player is atrocious. -
For football scouts, DJ Burns is a huge "What if?"
PNW_PantherMan replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is the type of dude that Fitterer would trade up for in the 3rd round. -
I'm just tired of going for the home run swing with the top physicals guy that can't play. Just draft somebody that can get open and catch routine passes. We need guys like that. We don't necessarily need the next freak show first ballot HOF receiver. Those guys don't typically win championships anyways.
-
I have no idea. Just pick the guy who is good, please.

I agree. I like the Diontae Johnson trade in vacuum. It's pretty low risk by itself. But as our biggest skill player acquisition, it's pretty underwhelming. Beyond him, it's just Adam Thielen. And Thielen could fall off a cliff at his age.

I'll vote better in the poll, because pressed between either option I don't think we're worse off. Even if we're worse next year because of you know who, we'll hopefully be in a better spot for 2025 with what was done in this offseason.

I mean just on paper, losing Brian Burns and Frankie Luvu. Maybe Jadaveon Clowney and Josie Jewell have monster seasons and they're even better. But on paper I'd say we downgraded talent there. I think they knew the defense would have to take a hit so the offense could be improved.
