There is no such thing as a 100 million dollar bridge quarterback. He's either your guy the next 3-4 years minimum or you go in another direction.

Jones is the better QB.

We're just talking here Scot. Everybody knows the team is going to do what they want. These are just opinions. And my opinion is we should be aiming higher than a high priced Kirk Cousins (at best) clone. Just meeting with him indicates to me it wasn't just all Matt Rhule steering us toward the Darnold's and Mayfield's of the NFL. We can now dispense with that narrative.

Gantt indicates the Panthers should bring in Carr
frankw replied to TheMaulClaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
Right but the Colts are run by Irsay who is a nut. Logic would dictate Scott Fitterer and Frank Reich have already had lengthy discussion about what we have in mind for the position moving forward. If Reich wasn't on board he wouldn't have taken the job. And I hardly think he and this staff with all their years of combined experience are afraid of developing a rookie. -

Not at all surprised one of the loudest pro Darnold voices also wants us to tie up a big chunk of our salary cap in the Kirk Cousins of the AFC. -

Does he have full control and I missed that? Looking at his history with the Colts and what went down with Wentz I'd have to imagine that would factor into his future approach around the position. Didn't he go to the playoffs with Brissett? We'll find out soon. -

I'm hoping some adults in the room will point out the obvious that most teams are competing with younger QB's on rookie contracts instead of veterans on bloated 150+ million dollar contracts. Scott has to know if he throws the whole franchise at Carr he's outta here if we aren't making a deep playoff run. -

If it's between Rodgers or Carr give me Rodgers all day. But I think his shtick would wear thin with Panthers fans fairly quick. -

To give you an idea of what you are dealing with. He was once the most outspoken Matt Rhule defender here. Crazy is an understatement.

We saw what a Kirk Cousins type of QB ultimately amounts to in the playoffs when they lost to the Giants. The man threw a pass behind the line of scrimmage. No way we need to hitch our wagon to a quarterback whose ceiling is that for 100+ million. Draft and develop our own for a change.

I want Stroud too but it would cost a serious haul to move up to get him. If the kid isn't basically walking on water in his rookie season this place will be roasting him 24/7. But I'm warming to the possibility of keeping our extra picks taking Anthony Richardson at 9 and stacking more offensive talent. Added bonus is Brooklyn Bully will blow his stack.

Hey guy. We're still on the same topic. I provided you information that you refuse to address because you know it destroys your narrative. Multiple things can be true. Carr is a retread. He's an upgrade over Darnold. Even Teddy Bridgewater is an upgrade over that. The issue is where folks like yourself are now chasing after and propping up anyone that fits that criteria. If he took an affordable deal that would be one thing. But 35 million a year? Big no thanks. BTW cheers to the most triggered Carr superfan on the huddle

Holding our general manager to his words is a "dumb agenda"? Yeah I'm happy about our coaching staff too. I'll be thrilled if and when we draft our QB in the first and develop him. But I can also acknowledge mistakes and not just blame it all on Matt Rhule. You can't handle that because you are smitten with Scott like you've got a personal bromance going with the guy. That isn't consistent with the standard you employed for Marty Hurney and anyone who has read enough of your 130 thousand posts knows this. But you do you and enjoy your weekend 🫶

LaMelo Ball had himself a night though..🫡

I see we're still entertaining the notion Fitterer had nothing to do with signing Ian Thomas to that absurd contract extension. https://www.instagram.com/p/CanKB0qpxga/?utm_medium=twitter

@Xtreme My guy. He played in 15 games and had a 60.8 completion % with Davante Adams compared to Darnold the bust who had 58.6% through 6 games. And he's several years older than Sam. This is who you want to pay 35 million dollars a year?

I thought it could have been a typo but figured it was still worth putting the info out there to back up the rebuttal to this desperate thread. Hey I want to be a contender again too but some fans here on the huddle are developing a condition where they perceive any QB who might give them the time of day to be the next sure thing. Did the same thing with Darnold the same thing with Mayfield and now again with a much older and only slightly more consistent QB coming off one of his worst statistical seasons with one of the best receivers in the league. What could go wrong

Let me ask you this straight up. What path do you think we have better odds of resulting in another Super Bowl appearance with? Chasing other teams discarded quarterbacks or drafting our own? Let's take a look at the last 10-15 years of Super Bowl teams. https://www.insider.com/how-super-bowl-teams-acquired-their-quarterback-2022-2 You've got 3 key free agents who helped their new team win one. Brees who went from SD to NO. Manning who went from Indy to Denver. And Brady who went from NE to Tampa Bay. All three are basically instant hall of famers and one is the undisputed goat albeit a total douchecanoe. Beyond that you've got a couple trades that are very rare like the Stafford to Rams deal. What's the trend with the rest? Drafted!
