Panthers Prospect Visits/Meetings (Final Update-4/22)
frankw replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well I don't disagree with you. But that isn't in the cards this season although we should IMO absolutely consider a QB in the mid rounds with some potential just to have on the roster because Jack Plummer is the definition of an afterthought and Andy Dalton while he is a great guy he is simply cooked at this point in his career let's just be honest. Certainly this year is the put up or shut up year regardless of circumstances. Or at least it should be. I've said all along my concern is this regime led by the Tepper's who have a built in need to save face for pushing for the trade will be willing to accept even marginal improvement as a "win" and seek to explore contract extension options with Bryce. While I like Dan Morgan he certainly is and was a direct part of that as Fitterer’s right-hand man so he also has a key stake in saving face too. I'm just hoping 2025 for the most part is a campaign that will silence any and all doubt and leave very little to be debated. At least then as a fanbase we could come together and end most of these constant feuds over the starting QB at least temporarily. We'll see. -

Some of your points here have validity to a certain extent in general but drawing a line in the sand over some of these things like diamond necklaces in relation to pro athletes and particularly professional NFL quarterbacks just sounds like something Nolan Nawrocki would say. And that's not anywhere anyone should want to be if they also want to be considered an intellectual. That to me sounds like the complete opposite of intellectualism. Anyways. If one wants to be skeptical of Sanders they can do so without the above. First point of order would be how he will fare in the NFL if he publicly throws his teammates under the bus after a loss as he did his offensive linemen in college previously. People can say what they want about Cam Newton but he never did that and he had every valid reason to. But there's a line you will struggle heavily to come back from in an NFL locker room if you cross it and that is one. Time will tell how Sanders will navigate these things. -

And I'll say it again. We really need some opposing viewpoints from other fans here again. Some people have resided within an echo chamber for too long. -

Bryce Young as a now third year QB has arguably even more to prove than a rookie Sanders. He's got a tremendous amount of work to do to slam the door shut on a very significant amount of bad tape. -
I completely agree. Evero has arguably the most to prove out of anyone this season especially considering he's had significant input on roster moves. You could make the argument both parties should have moved on. But what's done is done. I just hope it works out in our favor. But if it does not then it will just be one more Panthers blunder many fans could see coming. We'll find out.

As far as WR goes it's worth noting the amount of movement with the position via trade compared to years past. Other than bonafide guys like Jefferson and Chase teams are much more open to moving talented receivers now. That has worked out for and against different teams to varying degrees but if you look at the Super Bowl winners as of late a balanced roster paired with high level coaching is the key. With that in mind. Give me all the pass rush.

I obviously agree Bryce Young and Dave Canales need to make huge strides this upcoming season. Especially given the resources we've tied to the offense and hiring an offensive minded head coach. That goes without saying. As far as the defense goes beyond the top the bottom blowout losses we experienced even in the closer games there were guys across the defense getting picked on regularly. That's all over the game film our upcoming opponents this year will be prepared for. There's a lot of people with something to prove on both sides of the ball.

I don't mean to come down on you individually here. But I have to say. Please for the love of anything sacred can you and others stop with this idiotic cope? The Houston Texans regardless of the struggles they dealt with in 2024 have made the playoffs and won a playoff game in back to back seasons after being one play away from the first overall pick in 2022. Our Panthers haven't made the playoffs since 2017. We have got to stop carrying water for these decision makers here in Carolina and trying to diminish other franchises. Nobody in this organization has earned even a shred of benefit of the doubt.
-
And the truth of the matter is we gave up 35 passing touchdowns and quite a bit of that was our 100 million dollar CB getting eaten up.
-
You don't have to sell anyone that our run defense needs fixing. But we don't have to draft project defensive linemen at 8th overall to address our deficiencies. Some people here just live to shine shoes.
-
Oh absolutely injuries were a killer. I'm expecting big things from Derrick with the additions we've made. But I won't listen to any excuses this year for our defensive coordinator. We need results.
-
On paper we look improved. And at this point it should be nearly impossible to be worse than we were last year anyways. But if there's an NFL franchise out there that understands more than most the ultimate insignificance of checking off boxes as improved before actually seeing the results on the field it's the Panthers.

Trading Down Could be a Gold Mine in This Draft!!
frankw replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
I get the allure of trading down in theory. I just don't see this being a draft where multiple teams are willing to cut off their own nose to trade up and give up a sweet deal in the process. I mean maybe one or two teams will get antsy but I would be really surprised if we got an offer that would be worth not just sitting put and taking one of the best talents available. Furthermore I just don't think this front office with so much to prove after years of underwhelming drafts needs to be overthinking this. But that's just me. -

While I readily acknowledge we could certainly use another young safety. If we draft one at 8th overall over DL or offense I will be ready to flip a table over. -
https://x.com/josephperson/status/1786056064254837242 https://x.com/InsideTheLeague/status/1786771136748937429 As I said to another poster most changes have been limited to the pro personnel side. Last year around this time we fired the director and assistant director of pro scouting and a senior personnel executive "retired". Beyond that over the last few years or so we have moved around or promoted some people here and there in the college scouting dept but there have been no major firings or wholesale changes on that side of the operation. Which some here could and would rightfully argue is long overdue given that our drafts have been either mediocre or awful for a long time now.

Icege should inquire to the Panthers about being a paid spokesman. There is a whole world of middle ground between being a miserable fan who probably wants the team to suck and basically being an unpaid sycophant. The overwhelming majority of people are rational and want the team to succeed. However that does not mean they are giving ownership and the front office any benefit of the doubt because that has not been earned in any capacity to this point. That's life.

Panthers will bring Tetairoa in for a visit
frankw replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Due diligence as they should. Keep your options open. I imagine they'll find out about his film study habits too. -
What is even going on in that interview? Bizarre all around. But he is only 21 years old. Some team is going to take a chance on his talent. He definitely will need to go to the right situation with a strong coaching foundation though.

REPORT: Panthers met with WR Hunter Renfro

Panthers front office might as well start posting up in local nursing homes at this point. Maybe there's a few old timers around with some juice left in the tank. Or you know they could just stop drafting like utter dogshit. -

Where was Dan's right hand man when he was trading up for an RB with a torn ACL?
