  1. If Sam can’t move on from NY, then he has lost one of his greatest qualities....the ability to move on and let it go. Think your front office did their homework, not just as the player, but about the young man. He will blame himself for loses, praise his team for wins. No sulking, or pointing fingers at others. They’re acting, and showing, they believe in him, they know he’ll be hard on himself no matter the praise, when he needs to be. Kinda tough to have confidence in yourself playing for a sh*t organization, especially the QB position. Get over it, and move on.
  2. How I wish he had come into the NFL to exactly this situation. I really feel this front office and the coaches get it, not only for Sam, but for all the players on your roster. Even the city, culture itself is a blessing. Not all of us grow up in an L.A. loving culture, particularly our laid back beach towns. It’s up to your QB now, you’ve set him up for successful new start.
  3. Aussie punters are sought after by CFB programs. Our Aussie Trojan, the one we hosted, also visited LSU on game day, they have a punter from Australia as well. This is our guy: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/28271629/former-tiger-ben-griffiths-kicking-goals You have a whole network out here. As well as attending a Panthers game, you should also experience a few college games.....there is a lot more pageantry in CFB, most stadiums are on campus or within a short walking distance, everyone competes for the best tailgate. If you do decide to visit, and want to see what a college game day experience is like, pm me.
  4. Agree, and the reason I’m not concerned too much about your oline. Really excited he has an elite RB, always loved McCaffrey when he was at Stanford, IMO, USC’s second biggest miss, which includes Tom Brady. Can you imagine turning one away (Brady), and never offering the other (McCaffrey) ?
  5. Best analysis of Sam that I have read so far....he has more than enough weapons, an actual run game and better coaching (better than in college as well) to not be so reckless with the ball. He can compensate for a mediocre offensive line with his mobility. Sammy will always be a gunslinger, that will never change, but he does not have to do it himself this time. He has to get that through his head. He just wants to win. He has a lot to prove, the naysayers do have validity.
  6. Per his sons, he immediately regretted leaving USC for the NFL for the rest of his life. The L.A. media loved him, he would hold court at Julie’s - he had his own table, drink in hand, entertaining the beat reporters. His dying wish was for his ashes to be spread over the field of the Coliseum, it wasn’t legal, but USC made sure his wife Corky fulfilled his wish. That is why the Coliseum is hallowed ground.
  7. Lol. We have a lot to thank West Virginia for...one of our greatest coaches, John McKay, was born and raised in WV. He was the coach when I was at USC, he and Bear Bryant were close friends.....I remember that 1970 game in Birmingham vs Alabama very well, we were so afraid the residents would attempt to harm our black players - our QB and almost the entire backfield were black. The opposite happened, then I had the great pleasure of seeing coach Bryant across the stadium in the Coliseum in 1971.
  8. I see what you did there, lol. Seriously, we have several Brits and Aussies’ on our message boards, they’re very knowledgeable. They even understand the whole college loyalty, history and tradition thing. We hosted an Aussie who traveled to the US to see a game and experience a tailgate. Fun guys, just as passionate as our craziest of the craziest.
  9. Oh, Jesus Christ, I remember that....I wanted to deck him. Believe he said it wearing some effete looking, ridiculous costume. Lol.
  10. I was a moderator on my friends’ USC recruiting message board. Read, heard it all. When it concerns a man and his sports, there is little difference between you and women clawing each other to get in the door for a Nordstrom’s Semi Annual Shoe Sale. Brutal.
  11. I know the type of fan you’re talking about. very irritating. This forum is no different than any other concerning the QB position..filled with delusional fanboys, haters and chronic complainers. I’m a big girl, I can hold my own with the guys.
  12. Bandwagon? A Trojan is a Trojan, no matter their profession, or visibility, and I don’t believe in pumping my guy(s) over another player, if Sam does well here, it’s because of his teammates, the organization, coaches and fans. I don’t care how Auburn or Louisville fans behaved, i want the team to succeed, it’s a team sport. I don’t mean any disrespect.
  13. Is it not possible they’re the “douches”? We had a player at SC who was a first round talent (LT who was drafted in the top 10), now headed for a HOF career, whose family were horrible people. Stole from him, harassed him for more and more money, they were eventually barred from practice, in college and the pros. You learn, in social work, that there is a lot of toxic dysfunction in families that we know nothing about. This was difficult to see as a Latina that values family above all else.
  14. Carsons’ situation was more that the bengals organization kept lying to him, said they would address some of his concerns, and they never did. The death of Chris Henry sealed it, he was devastated by that tragedy. Life is short, when money isn’t the reason, why stick to an organization that doesn’t value you?
  15. The NFL is strictly business. Both for the owners, and the players. Didn’t the packers make their choice by drafting a QB in the first round? Now the packers can live with that decision, just as Aaron will. Wonder if he takes the Carson Palmer route.....both were/are in a financial position to sit it out for a year to get what they want.
  16. This sounds so similar to what was said about Sam as the QB of the scout team in college by the DC and the 1st string defense. That’s how the buzz started, and Colin Cowherd became such a fan. “I can't remember what we were watching a cut of and Sam was playing on the other side of the ball and a couple times he made some throws and Phil Snow, our defensive coordinator, was like, 'Man, that kid looks like Matt Stafford.' And so, we put a couple games on, this is the defensive staff and they were all like, 'You know what, every game we watch, he makes a couple of big-time plays,' and there has to be some meat on the bone there," Rhule said.
  17. Believe me, I’ve been around many of our players, while they were still in school, and after they left for the NFL. Sam ranks up there with Troy Polamalu and Anthony Munoz as kind and easy going. He comes from a great family. I think Carolina is perfect for him....he was in a big media market in L.A. (and that horror in NY) the SID made sure they scheduled breaks from the media madness for him to get home to family and friends.
  18. You folks are going to think Sam is really boring. He’s never going to say anything about his coaches, his teammates or criticize the fan base. No sulking or claims of disrespect. He’s much like Carson Palmer in temperament, just wants to be one of the guys. You may be surprised how different he is around his teammates as opposed to his persona in pressers. Teammates love him.
  19. That may be true, but the Jets did not win a single game in three seasons without him.
