  1. So does anyone think Christiansen will be our LT?
  2. The Biggest Question for Every NFL Team Heading into 2021 OTAs | Bleacher Report | Latest News, Videos and Highlights Sometimes BR gets it right. I think this is the biggest question. Do you think we search in FA an LT or do think we're rolling with the roster as it is?
  3. Yup. Rhule: 'I want to win and I want to win right now' :: WRALSportsFan.com at the 5:07 mark.
  4. Why is the "given up on" so crucial for the comparison? Why does a turn around example you are looking for require jets level of stupidity? Why must the many examples of 3 yr suckage with a turn around be followed by cut ties? Because the jets are masters of evaluating talent and so Darnold must suck because the jets said so?
  5. OK you don't care about Marshal, even though you drone on and on about WRs. You wanted two OL in the 2nd, but we didn't have two 2nd round picks, we'd have to trade down to get that but you wanted two anyway. You wanted 2 of the 9 OT that we didn't choose because for some reason other than just draft position, you feel they are better than BC. I'm sorry you didn't get any of the 9 OT that you wanted because they have some quality that BC doesn't have beside their draft position...probably younger with longer arms. This happens every year. People bitch because we ignored some need in the draft. When we drafted Little someone would bitch about something else. When we drafted D, people bitched about O. When we draft D and O people bitch about position groups. When we draft Oline in the top of the third, they bitch that we should have done it in the top of the second. Trading down and stealing bargains as you drop is the correct strategy. Trading down and taking BC gave us Marshal, Tremble, Hubbard, Nixon and Taylor...and I'm ok with that. You obviously aren't. All of if this is moot if BC becomes a serviceable LT this year (possible) or Greg Little steps up (seems unlikely).
  6. Everyone is prone to injury behind the jets oline.
  7. The problem isn't that we didn't draft 2nd round OT. The problem is that our 2nd round tackle doesn't appear to like to play football. Little was going to be our next Gross. 2019 NFL Draft: Film room scouting report on Ole Miss OT Greg Little - Cat Scratch Reader smh
  8. Still with the OL>WR stuff. We all know the OL is important which is why we traded up to get BC. I know you are really really really upset about Marshal...and apparently really really really wanted Mayfield which is the OT we missed to get him. We get it.
  9. Yeah, I'm sure he would have balled out on the jets.
  10. Smith's first year he threw 1 TD and 9 Interceptions in 9 games. Darnold never came close to that level of suck. Smith's second year he was 16td 16 ints. Smiths 3rd year, only the Jets' Kellen Clemens had a poorer passer rating than Smiths 57.2. Over 3 years he was worse than Darnold. Smith sucked. The 9ers kept him. If he was on the jets, they would have traded him. Please explain why its crucial that the franchise be so moronic to trade away the 1st round picks every couple years for it to be a valid example of a combeback quarterback.
  11. Fact of the matter is the league is filled with stories of players making a move and improving. Google it yourself. You will probably rule out the stories for some stupid reason or another...he played too long, he wasn't AS bad...it was another team besides the jets...he wasn't top 3... he had different hair color... IT. DOESN'T. MATTER. The dataset is to small and unique to make inferences. The jets sucked. It wasn't all Darnold. This fall we will find out how much.
  12. I agree, except on the Oline, where we were mediocre to begin with... which has some peopled worried. Okung was a security blanket last year, even though he only had 7 starts. With Little not even showing up for OTAs..another bad sign...left tackle is either rookie Christiansen, Dennis Daley, Trent Scott or last in the league rated Erving. Either we are not done here as @Mr. Scotsaid, or BC has a serious shot at being the LT starter very soon.
  13. Two 2nd round OT's? Look I agree it is hard to find excellent OT which is why it is one of the higher paying positions. It sounds like you have real problem with the Marshal pick since he was the pick before BC and is a WR. I can see that. Marshal was pick 59. BC was pick 70. Between 59 and 70, one OT was taken. Jalen Mayfield had only 15 starts at MI and missed most of 2020 season due to injury. Is Mayfield a better OT than BC? We'll see, he went to Atlanta. I think he was one of our potential OL targets and I think we panicked when Atlanta took him, that's why we traded up. We'll see if either of them get PT at LOT and how each one performs. You may be right, we should have taken Mayfield at 59.
  14. Yes..and if they hadn't traded back, they would be thinking like Hurney...use your one pick on a player and pray it works. About as often as the 6th or 12th depending on how deep the class is and where the shelves are. That's the point, after you get out of the elite set, its a crap shoot. They are trying to throw more darts by drafting more players. After the elite players...draft position is a horrible indicator.... and its not me saying BC is good, many mock boards had BC in the 2nd round, where you feel there are excellent tackles apparently unlike the 3rd. Its not because we didn't spend money. We put the tag on Moton, and brought in Erving (a 1st round draft pick, you should be happy). Then we drafted BC and Deonte Brown. I appreciate everyone's frustration with GM's on the Oline. I was screaming at the TV when they were head hunting Cam. Riveria should have stormed the field, as a coach I would have gotten myself ejected to draw attention to it... it wasn't until years later in Atlanta that he threw a fit and they ejected a player. He should have done that years earlier. Its not that the GMs aren't trying or spending money...the GMs keep whiffing. Matt Kalil, pro-bowler, was drafted 4th OVERALL and we spent a fortune on him...whiff. We traded up to get Little in the 2nd...whiff. Okung 6th OVERALL, 2x pro-bowler, whiff...he's still available if you want him.
  15. I'm not sure what your point is. Are you saying that just because this is his second stop after only 3 years of being drafted top 3 with the Jets that this type of rebound is unlikely because it hasn't succeeded before? This is the first time in NFL history a team has selected a QB twice in the top-three in a span of four drafts....ever. So yes, there have been no success in this exact scenario, but there haven't been any failures. The jets have discovered a new level of f-ed up. Congratulations NY Jets, you've made another record.
  16. We traded up and drafted Greg Little high in the 2nd and it appears we whiffed. Draft position does not equal performance. We brought in pro bowler Okung in FA and he played 7 games. Past performance doesn't guarantee future results. Christiansen is an excellent O-linemen. He has the tape and athletic ability. The Panthers Select Brady Christensen in the Third Round of the NFL Draft - BYU Cougars on Sports Illustrated: News, Analysis, and More By trading down instead of taking someone like Jenkins, we were able to get Marshal, Tremble, Hubbard, Nixon and Taylor.
  17. What's exciting is some of those come-backs were immediate and powerful. I think Vinny took the jets to the AFC championship the first year. Tannehill went to the AFC championship his first year with the titans.
  18. Many signs point to Darnold playing better...the question is, how much. If his ceiling was accurately projected when he was drafted......we could be a playoff team...otherwise, this is going to be a long season.
  19. You're right...and I may be too. We'll find out.
  20. "He'd be #2 on your team for touchdowns last year...He's the Cardinals 3rd leading receiver...he has more yards than Larry Fitgerald." Excellent script. That guy was good. Show me the money!
  21. Its true that its nothing like Olson or Gronk. I still expect Arnold and Tremble to see more passing action than Thomas.
  22. In 2019 Thaddeus Moss set LSU positional records for both receptions (38) and receiving yards (570) at tight end in addition to four touchdowns; Moss also had five catches for 36 yards and a pair of scores in the team’s National Championship win over Clemson. We didn't leverage tight end to receive last year because well, Thomas.
