  1. Well considering he's only 26 years old and barely has any wear on him for the past two years, yeah I think he will be productive when we're back in the playoffs. As teams like the Giants and Dolphins are showing, all you need is the right combination of coaching staff and decent QB play to be one year away from playoff contention.
  2. You say he's done better catching the ball because he's "used more that way" but conveniently leave out that "of the dozen guys with more production running" 8 of those 12 have more carries than he does. Feels like you're cherry picking stats to support your point. You didn't care to respond to the earlier post showing he's 4th in total scrimmage yards so far this year either.
  3. I actually think Cam Erving is a decent candidate to get dealt. Lots of tackle injuries out there, I can definitely see a team like the Broncos or Rams sending a 5th or 6th round pick for him.
  4. The production isn't there this year? I mean he's on pace for 1,900 total yards playing in one of the worst offenses we've seen in years.
  5. There's nothing inherently wrong with Shaq - I just don't think he's a difference maker in the mold of Kuechly or Thomas Davis. I think he's a fine off ball LB that can flash occasional greatness, but I think his best years are behind him. My gut says if he's not willing to take a pay cut, I wouldn't be surprised given the cap issues for 2023 if the FO decides to move on and replace him with a draft pick or an average FA LB.
  6. I think the issue is all the "hot" offensive minded coaches are young and relatively inexperienced. I would be fine with any one of Waldron, Dorsey, Steichen, or Ben Johnson, but I also understand all of these guys relatively inexperienced and no guarantee to pan out. Offensive minds that are experienced are the aforementioned Roman, Eric Bieniemy, or a guy like Bill O'Brien who's currently OC at Alabama (and I don't think Tepper is reaching into the college ranks even if it's for a former HC).
  7. It sounds like you want someone who's on the offensive side of the ball but has spent multiple years as an OC for different franchises. Honestly the only guy I can think of that fits that mold is Greg Roman. 4 years as OC at SF, 1 year as OC in Buffalo, in his 4th year as OC in Baltimore. I wouldn't necessarily be against that sort of hire, but I also wouldn't be impressed or thrilled with it.
  8. How do you define who is a "good offensive mind at OC but also prime HC material"? And would this be how you were describing Daboll if, say, he started 0-2 rather than 2-0 because of a missed Titans FG in Week 1 and a dropped Luvu pick 6 in Week 2?
  9. You know that's not a fair comparison at all given their respective backgrounds, but I'll let you do you...
  10. Huh? Seattle is tied for 1st in the NFC West, Geno Smith is ranked 4th in QBR, and the Seahawks are ranked 9th in the NFL in PPG and 4th in Offensive DVOA. I'd be happy with Waldron.
  11. The WR room is not bad. DJ and Robbie each had 1,000+ yards with Teddy Bridgewater. DJ had 1,000+ with Sam, PJ, and Cam last year. The QB and the OC are horrendous. If Daboll and Mike Kafka can get offensive production from Daniel Jones and a WR room that includes *checks notes* Richie James, David Sills, and Darius Slayton, I think a competent offensive minded coaching staff can do a lot more with DJ, Shenault, TMJ and Shi.
  12. A base salary restructure means we take DJ's 2023 salary of ~$19.5m and bring it down to the vet min and pay him the difference as a bonus that's prorated over the remaining years of his contract. He doesn't lose any money, in fact he gets it quicker. And the only move I made that takes someone off the roster is letting go of Shaq, which for better or worse, I believe is 100% happening. The leaders of this defense will be Chinn, Burns, Brown, and Horn going forward anyway.
  13. My mistake. Point still stands though - can draft a 23 year old LB who'll give you 70% of what Shaq does for peanuts next year.
  14. Shaq's got a year left on his deal and will be 30 years old next year. I don't think he's in the team's long-term plans honestly. I think the bigger mistake would be adding years to that deal and pushing more of his money down the line for an aging LB at this point.
  15. Three simple moves: Trade or cut Shaq Thompson This one is inevitable Extend Brian Burns and lower his cap hit from $16m to ~$6.5m First year cap hits for recent big money DE contracts: Von Miller ($5.15m), Maxx Crosby ($6.67m), Arik Armstead ($6m), Robert Quinn ($6.1m) Simple base salary restructure of DJ's contract DJ was just extended this offseason; don't think team brass holds this year against him and he's likely in their long-term plans at just 26 years old Play around with moves yourself: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/tools/roster/carolina-panthers/2023/
  16. Rams don't have a 2023 first round pick, so unless they're giving up at least their 2023 2nd and 3rd and their 2024 1st, I'm telling them to fug off if I'm Fitt.
  17. If a team is not going to give up at least a first round pick, CMC is not going to be traded. And I agree with that. From an ESPN Insider article posted this morning:
  18. Most of them aren't even under contract for next season. Free agents include Darnold, Erving, Chandler, Franklin, and Walker. Robbie already got shipped out. Probably cut Chubba. I think we'll end up keeping Elf because he's proven to be a decent-to-good center and the OL will continue developing continuity.
  19. I don't foresee any big names moving. Trading CMC for some of the deals you see floated out there (PFF mentioned Bills sending a 2023 4th and a 2024 2nd) when trading him only nets Carolina $1.1m in cap space in 2023 makes no sense especially because none of his salary is guaranteed after this season. The biggest name I could see being moved at the deadline is Donte Jackson. Reasonable contract for a contender who needs secondary help to take on. We'd take a dead money hit on the signing bonus but free up space in 23.
  20. It’s only $900k for this season (base salary) and next year is $12m but not guaranteed. The acquiring team does not take on prorated bonus/money.
  21. No, it's $20m total dead money hit. We take $10.2m hit on this year's cap and $9.7m dead money on next year's cap. Free up $12m of 2023 cap space.
  22. Cap wise, trading Robbie, extending Burns, and restructuring Moton and/or DJ will get us enough cap space to sign our draft class and make a move or two in FA.
