What is the benefit to benching starters for the preseason?
strato replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
They chose not to pressure Young with competition, and I am not trying to incite people, but the reality is, they have to go low to avoid favorable comparisons a chance to take root and spread through the fanbase. Or something like that. They want Young starting and don’t want counter opinions to gain momentum. -
Contgratulations, sincerely. This poo is worse than all that

It’s actually Tepper’s team, and part of a huge business run by lot of rich dudes, staffed by a bunch of millionaire players. That is a reality. They are beholding to us. When they the trust they break the bond.
-
I believe horrible ownership is the loophole to escape loyalty, without guilt. If I leave it will be Tepper, and he is his last chance right now, this year. I won’t pick another team. Just ignore NFL football.
-
That is a lot like the way I feel. Except I’d say it is more fore me that I still love football but am not happy that the NFL is the gatekeeper, and is taking the sport farther away from what I grew up watching and what pulled me in and kept me in. Their greed has been out of control with the NFL and money seems to be their only compass. It is harder and harder to love.

Week one, has never been trustworthy. Results don’t run to form. It was the 5th game. Now it’s the 4th game. Would that lead you to think it will be more trustworthy or less? And game 5 is now Week 2. I still look at it as Week One and still feel it is not a great indicator of what kind of team you have. Haven’t figured it out yet, just like the NFL guys are still trying to adjust their thinking. But I am going with we have two week ones now. Every year almost there are some outcomes that at year’s end you will look back on and wonder how that happened. And we have a team predicted to do nothing and most of us agree with those predictions... so it makes me wonder why starting 0-2 would really upset people. It’s a project year to me, most important thing is that they get things together and I am not expecting the job to be done by September nor do I understand the worry about it. What they look like is more important than the game’s outcome to me, at this stage. If they can get the level of play up, now they can focus on the winning part. -
I determined I’d give him ’24 to show he belongs in the NFL, is what I determined. And am skeptical that he can do it. Characterize that however you want.

Destiny? I am nowhere near the realm of a predestined (oops, predetermined) fate, I am looking at something that I do not see succeeding because the QB has limitations that I, in my own value system, cap his ceiling. edit: I said “sometimes" I said 2024 is given to prove he can be the man

REPORT: Panthers changed the offense 3 times last season
strato replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am baffled when people watch a player playing like poo, hear the coach praise or defend the player, and get mad at the coach. I mean, they know the players are listening and are building them up... it is one of the most coach speak things there is. It is his job to make that player better and he is working on his mindset. -
Sorry you were quick with that reply...I hit post before I finished and wenty to edit the rest in. It feels like mediocrity is the best outcome we could hope for, and we know what it looks like... I’d rather not do that.
-
Well, maybe it is. Maybe it is heading it off at the pass. Knowing what I know now, today, I am going into this year feeling like we are on a forced march towards mediocrity. That could change, I do realize. One reason I get irritated at not seeing the product.

It bothered me to see Frank who professed a strong faith, lying. At least I believe(d) he was lying. It could have been (part of) the reason for his mournful looking countenance. Knowing how many people he was lying to. -
The reason people are feeling a certain way is lack of faith in the player, and they envision years of futility ahead, with his doing just enough to keep his job. But not taking the team to the high level good stuff. If that is to be the sentence, just hang me. Or ‘fug that, let’s just get it over with”. I feel that way sometimes. But he gets 2024.

Canales had a year of Young on film and Morgan on the on the inside. He knows what he is walking into, Frank had no idea. It has always felt to me like Frank couldn’t see how it could work. -

I think they should have tried a 4th time. -
What is the benefit to benching starters for the preseason?
strato replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I enjoyed the starters so much last year in preseason. Those extra 8 reps obviously were the key to Young's stellar rookie year. I resisted and complained for my selfish reasons of wanting to witness what it will look like. Then I let it marinate a while and opened up to it. I can see some reasons for it. My entertainment, not one of those reasons. The people that understand we have a new paradigm are looking for ways to exploit it. They might be finding it. Really sucks for the fans though, now the first couple of series are just like the rest of the game,. -
Preseason game 2 - who impressed who needs to get their ass cut
strato replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I want to tell you, I’m looking for what you said that deserves someone shitting your post. I think maybe you committed a Bryce Young thought crime. -
Okay. Don’t fall in love on the first date, take it slow. After your due dlliigence, pick us a good one.
-
Those mechanics though, he needs them right. I look and I believe he needs to use more effort than those strapping dudes with the big arms. To get the same results. And then the more effort you are using the easier it is for those mechanics to break down. I guess it is a long way of saying I don’t think he has a lot of margin for error and it needs to be right. So I hope it is, and let’s see it it.
-
I am not sure I believe that but good that he juked somebody. I remember it, not what game but I saw it. I’m sure I muttered damn he sucks... Yeah, get the mules that do the real work, a good test. I really don’t care a lot about the skill guys, too many hamstrings already, but this could be a reason I want the 1st team: I thought the skip or hitch was gone from Young’s routine. If I saw right, that needs to be confirmed. When he has to have the play, like for the win, or is in a pressure moment, we need to see that because that is when people revert to their comfort zone, relative to trotting out rebuilt fundamentals and mechanics. Athletes, musicians, whoever else needs a repeatable result from their technique, struggle with it. It’s hard. And those of us who have attempted to rebuild something that you can already make work, you have to regress and the thinking comes back in and it is a job to get all the way there and trust it. So let’s see it.

The Jets Joint Practice Thread: HOT Take Edition
strato replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
She's got a point. I like that. Technically though, I think(?), the GM wants dawgs, and the HC is the one that ‘got mad’. -
Okay that happens. What I am seeing is people talking about a playetr that is frustrating them greatly. And some that disagree answer with good football points or are legit trying to, in the spirit of debate. Then we have what seems like a majority ‘talking' about the people they disagree with, more than they talk about reasons they are wrong.

Lol. Is Lobotomy a recognized surgical procedure, or is it not? He is an effin’ neurosurgeon. Which, is sort of like being an omelette chef.

BREAKING: Panthers sign veteran O-lineman

Change it to Iko Iko and roll. -
Good luck to him. They are stocking up on some Panthers up there. I am sorry to all you huge fans of our current fearless leader but I am going make a bad joke so cover your eyes. Seriously go find you security blanket. They may end up with better play out of our rejects than we can get out of the people that we upgraded them with. HAHAHAHAHAHAH I do have some faith that Canales can help.
