David Newton's "cryptic" comment got me to thinkin
LinvilleGorge replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't even think it's close. I honestly have no idea how anyone watches these two QBs and convinces themselves Pickett is a better prospect. Put Pickett on UNC's team last year and he's a UDFA. Straight up. -
Yep. The furniture and textiles industries leaving left this area gutted of good blue collar jobs. The same story is prevalent all across America. The area is making a big comeback focusing more on tourism and attracting the folks looking at Asheville and balking at the prices. The problem is that tourism driven jobs don't pay. All the good middle class blue collar jobs have been replaced with $10-12 an hour type jobs. The old Henderson plant site is a prime example. That plant used to support a lot of good paying blue collar jobs that supported a lot of local families. It's been replaced by a shopping center. Wal-Mart, Dick's, PetSmart, TJ Maxx, etc. The managers of those stores make decent money but everyone else is making $10-12 an hour.

Drafting Kenny Pickett is the draft equivalent of what we've been doing acquiring veteran QBs - basically panic overpaying for trash.- 102 replies

Favre was driven by revenge in Minnesota. That's where he wanted to go and the Packers blocked him and sent him to the Jets. He spent his year in exile then came back and had one of the best years of his career.

Kenny Pickett > Malik Willis (at least for us)

I don't need to check out his draft profile. I watched him play a lot of games. He was just a guy who's the same age as most second or third year NFL players playing on a pretty good veteran college team. He was literally a man vs. boys. He'll look like he did earlier on his college career when he's playing against fellow men. -
Yep, it was Jets first then Vikings.

I wanna know what cocktail they have that dude on.

Thoughts on putting Cam behind this line?

I'd rather do that than play Darnold or draft Pickett. -
With the talk of Christensen potentially playing LT I think we're getting ourselves up to draft Tiny Hands at #6. I hope not. It's be mistake but am easier to swallow mistake if we also fix the OL. Just don't tie the next coach to him.

Now this is fuging nice. Legit OC and OG signed.

I'll start having positive vibes about Tepper's Panthers when I see reason for it. Meanwhile, we're in officially the worst stretch of Panthers football in team history.

Damn. Deshaun Watson pulled off what essentially amounted to free agency via a no trade clause. Would not be shocked to see owners try to ban NTCs in the next CBA.
-
Watson to damn near the entire NFC South
-
I didn't want Watson.
-
Well, now that we've officially swung and swung and swung again at Deshaun Watson just to embarrassingly miss, back to your previously scheduled program of spending all of our resources on defense in an increasingly offensive driven league.

That division is shaping up to be an absolute monster on paper. My goodness.

Carolina quietly cleared more cap with RA

Probably not this year, but definitely next year. Probably still will. The new staff will just have to eat the hit that shouldn't have existed.
