Hard to look yourself when the other team is practically in your Huddle because you didn't change a thing. That's where Ron dropped the ball. He saw "change" as a black of white thing. You don't really have to change anything to make it appear you have. Tweak your formations to add a wrinkle. Just do SOMETHING to avoid showing your opponents exactly what they've studied on film.

#4 on the all-time sack list "underperformed". Wow. Gotta love it.

Jackson can run really fast and has decent ball skills, that's honestly about it. He's really inconsistent and he's a poor tackler. He must have been a terrible route runner or something because honestly his skill set screams slot WR IMO.

There's a pretty good history of Rhule making comments along these lines and then shortly after we part ways with said player. Thomas has talent. I hope it's true. I just never know what to make of Rhule's comments. Too often in the past his comments have said one thing and actions have said the opposite.
-
All I know is that public Rhule praise has more often than not been a harbinger of doom for that plyer in the past.

It was BRUTAL watching that Broncos LB literally fighting back laughter after the game telling the press that we literally changed nothing. Not the slightest wrinkle. We showed them nothing we hadn't already out on tape. He was absolutely bewildered. They knew everything that was coming. We never had a chance. Thanks, Ron!

Yeah, you can't publicly throw that much shade at a guy and NOT part ways with him. They were DONE with Teddy after he threw Brady under the bus blaming a late play call for him missing a wide open DJ in the endzone. There was a very distinct shift in the tone and message regarding Teddy from Rhule and company after that one and honestly it's tough to blame them for it. You dialed up a play that got a WR wide ass open for an easy TD, your QB airmailed it, then somehow still tried to blame you for it? Ouch.

Heading into OTAs today - whatcha interested in?

FS is definitely a huge question mark and that's assuming Chinn is the SS. If he plays more LB, then both S spots are huge question marks. -
Not for that money they couldn't. And yeah, I think that bridge was burned and the ashes washed down the river.

Panthers moving Chinn to safety. Thoughts?

I'm fine with moving vets around but when you have a young stud on a team that's probably not quite ready to compete, be smart enough to see the future. Develop that guy where you think his best future is. Don't got chasing an extra possible win that's the difference between 7-10 and 6-11. -

And the staff. You have a stud. Play him as you see him best suited. Don't try to slap bandaids on the defense using arguably your best young chess piece. -

Snow said that's where he needs to be for his career longevity. I mean, if he plays a Kam Chancellor type SS role, that's basically a S/LB hybrid anyway.- 55 replies

Just watched about half of Rhule's 12ish minute interview the Panthers posted on FB. One thing that stuck out to me is that Christensen's name wasn't mentioned at all in the LT conversation. Sure sounds like that spot is Cam Erving's to lose and that Christensen is likely seen as an OG.

I've said it repeatedly, I hope Darnold proves me wrong and is a smashing success. I'm just not going to engage in mental gymnastics to try to convince myself that Darnold is an All-Pro QB who only looked like trash because he was on the Jets. That's not how these things usually end up working out. We're betting against long odds here hoping to hit the jackpot.

260 would only be gaining 11 pounds from his Combine weight. Lebron's weight hasn't been updated since his rookie season. He's considerably north of 250.
-
Yeah, literally no one would take our starting DEs over Young and Garrett.
-
This. Panthers fans just don't have a great feel for that reality because under JR/Hurney we continually made bad decisions hanging onto vets for too long or restructuring guys who should be getting cut. By and large the NFL is as cut throat as it gets. Robby just has no leverage. Marshall was drafted to be his replacement. The entire league knows they can sign him as a FA after this season for no trade compensation. The Panthers know they have a decent comp pick likely coming to them, so they're in no mood to deal him for scraps. Unless Robby is willing to hold out to force their hand, he pretty much has zero leverage.
-
Miller looks small, relatively speaking of course.
-
Yeah, this looks more and more like a contract dispute. Robbie just doesn't have any leverage.
-
Agreed. I don't blame Robbie and I don't blame the Panthers. It's just an awkward situation. The Panthers are gonna pay DJ. They want someone on a cheap rookie deal opposite him. Robbie obviously wants long-term security.
-
Honestly, it's probably because he isn't in charge. Rhule has final say.
-
Unfortunately, Marshall was basically drafted to be his replacement. He's not getting an extension right now. Marshall will have to bust or prove to still be injury prone for that to potentially be in the cards. He can basically either show up and play or try to force his way out
