Carolina Panthers 2021 Front Office news*
LinvilleGorge replied to razorwolf's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd love to see Morgan back here. That's all I have to offer. -
Wentz update: Trade is close, with three teams involved
LinvilleGorge replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Because they were probably only being offered peanuts. I think all that talk of a 1st rounder and possibly even more was pure BS from the Eagles' end. -
If a QB isn’t there at 8... Slater is your pick
LinvilleGorge replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
There's no two ways to slice it, we're in a bad spot right now. We're probably on the outside looking in on the QB run at #8 while also needing to rebuild the OL. Trading to get our QB greatly impacts our ability to rebuild the OL. Using our capital to rebuild the OL basically means forgoing a QB or taking a shot in the dark at a 2nd or 3rd tier QB, be it a draft pick or a vet. We already went that vet route last year. In the ideal world, Fields or Lance is available at #8. I'm just less and less convinced of that with each passing day with this current QB carousel going on. We have a gigantic target on our backs from teams behind us too because if one of those guys is available at #7 the Lions' phone is gonna be ringing off the hook with everyone and their brother knowing we are desperate for a QB. -

It's starting to look like all these trade offer rumors likely originated from the Eagles desperately trying to drum up a market. If I had to guess, he ends up getting dealt to the Colts for peanuts. -
So that WFT win costs us our 2nd rounder and next year's 1st? OUCH.

If you go strictly by the you don't draft *insert position* from *insert college program*, then Brian Burns isn't a Panther because lord knows there's no shortage of NFL bust pass rushers from FSU. There are a lot of teams that wish they hadn't rolled their eyes at yet another Jeff Tedford Call QB when Aaron Rodgers was available.

Latest NFL.com mock has us trading up to #2 for Zach Wilson
LinvilleGorge replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
-
Nope. He's been beat out by two very good but not quite great QBs. He's just not good enough. We already have a guy who's not good enough.
-
No, I'd rather trade down and accumulate more future draft assets because we're probably going to have to trade up next year.
-
People still listen to talk radio? Why?
-
If we don't answer the QB question elsewhere, then any pick other than QB is going to be deeply disappointing.
-
Another second or two just means more time to find that checkdown. Hell, maybe being sped up wouldn't give him time to get to the checkdown.
-
If you're drafting an OL in the top 5 and he ends up playing anything other than LT then that's gotta be a little disappointing IMO.
-
Sewell making it past the Bengals at #5 would be almost as shocking as the Jags picking anyone other than Lawrence.

Ranking Eight Potential QB Trade Targets for Panthers

Trubisky is FA, so we wouldn't have to trade anything for him. -
Ranking Eight Potential QB Trade Targets for Panthers

Minshew reminds me a lot of Jake Delhomme and I say that as a good thing. I wouldn't be opposed to trading for him if the draft doesn't fall our way, but there's no way I'd have him at #1 and be saying absolutely no to Carr. That seems insane to me. -
Oof. I didn't realize he'd had a long list of legal issues. Not really sure why that hasn't been mentioned by all the people acting like it's absurd he hasn't been offered a head coaching gig yet. Also, Bieniemy looks like a HW Floyd Mayweather.

I guess all this urgency to find a new QB was worth jumping from +6600 to +5000.
-
Oh, don't get it twisted. I put 95% of the blame for that situation on Rivera and his idiotic personnel decisions. If he plays Heinicke that full game we lose and we're sitting at #3. But, noooooo... he has to give Jamarcus Haskins a shot.
-
I mean, he hasn't been hired yet despite him being presumed as one of the top candidates for two hiring cycles now so I'm not sure how you could say it hurts his chances.

Turner/Boston admit that the refs screwed us in SB50
LinvilleGorge replied to Mol3m4n's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep. It's what the league has been doing for years now to encourage more offense. -

He is on the field and that's what matters most. -

We can save $8M this coming season and $21M the next by making him a post-June 1st cut. Throwing good money after bad is never a good idea. That's what always got Hurney in trouble. -

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I don't think the NFL outright fixes games. But I do think they absolutely influence outcomes. There's a big difference between the two.
