Panthers taking Patriots game seriously
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Curious to see how it goes. Really hope to see some WRs step up and make some plays. Like has been said, we're not going to replace KB by having just one guy step up, the entire unit is going to have to step up collectively. -
Huddle Podcast - Talking Panthers with Jonathan Jones
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can understand them predicting us to go 7-9, but for god's sake at least get the reasoning right. If I was to make a Panthers 7-9 prediction, my reasoning would be lacking any starting caliber NFL WRs and an 0-4 stretch during murderer's row in weeks 6-9 just crushing the team's morale and confidence. Unless we really have someone step up at WR, I'd honestly go with a 9-7 prediction right now. On paper, there's not a worse WR corps in the league. -

All those raving reports about KB throughout camp are now just a HUGE kick in the nuts. -

You do realize that when someone puts something like that in quotation marks they're being sarcastic, right? -

The "upside" is that maybe we'll be oicking high enough next April to get that elite LT we all want. -
Rapsheet - Torn ACL for Kelvin Benjamin
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
We all knew it was coming, but the finality of it still sucks. Really worried about our offense now. I was hopeful we'd have our best WR corps in years, but that was counting on having a legit #1 on the field. As it sits right now, we may have the worst WR corps in the NFL. Bad WR corps AND Mike Shula? That may just be too much to overcome. -
Kelvin Benjamin carted off at practice
LinvilleGorge replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ironically, his description of how an ACL injury occurs perfectly describes how I tore my MCL. It was a twisting motion where my upper and lower leg moved in opposite direction. Result? Torn MCL and slightly torn meniscus that was deemed small enough to not require surgery. Hurt like hell, but recovery was surprisingly quick. -

Torn meniscus and out for the season makes no sense whatsoever. He'd have a chance to be back by the regular season opener if it was just a torn meniscus. That can be taken care of through arthroscopic surgery. He may have a torn meniscus, but if he's missing the season it's because it's accompanied by a torn ACL. I'd be onboard with giving Batman a vacation for that one. -

At this point, it'll be shocking news if we hear that KB hasn't sustained a major knee injury. Here's to getting shocking news! -

The training staff knows. A torn ACL is easy to diagnose through manual manipulation of the joint. The MRI just confirms -

Sorry man, but that video showed what is almost certainly a serious knee injury. Non-contact lower body injuries are almost always bad. -

Before everyone starts celebrating, I'd just like to point out that a torn ACL is technically a sprain. Grade 3 sprain:Complete tear of the ligament. If the examiner pulls or pushes on the ankle joint in certain movements, gross instability occurs. -
Bottom Panthers PFF Performers - Preseason Week 1
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm slightly concerned about the DE position overall. We know CJ is gonna beast, but everyone else looked pretty darn awful. But, not gonna panic after one preseason game. Especially 3 of our 4 starting defensive linemen didn't play a single snap. -
Official Panthers - Bills GameDay Thread

D is making making Buffalo's QBs actually look legit. Also about to give up 100 first half rushing yards and a 4:1 time to of possession. -
Not encouraging that Funch can't get any separation against THE Carrington Byndom.

I think it was more about being unable to match up from a team speed perspective than it was about gap assignment when it comes to why we ran so much nickel last season. Klein stuck covering a slot receiver or speedy TE? Yikes.

It wouldn't surprise me if Shaq played a similar role to what TD played as a rookie. TD wasn't really a LB and wasn't really a safety as a rookie. He was pretty much put out there and told to be an athlete and make plays. He spied mobile QBs (Vick) and was just generally unleashed to cause a ruckus.

Monday Practice Photos and Notes (not fight related)
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sounds like the new #34 may give us some flashbacks of what #34 used to do for us several years ago. Watching TD play, it's easy to forget that he's had 3 ACL surgeries, but all it takes is one pic of those knees to quickly remind you. -
davos, I figured this would be as good of a time as any to point out that Williams has 35" arms. Fuging poo, the quote function on this forum is a disaster.

Good lord, people. The guy took a few snaps at LT during practice and evidently looked pretty decent - albeit against a DE who by all accounts has been having a rough camp. Let's not blow it out of proportion one way or the other. CelibatePimp, drink a beer or something. Damn, man. What's tto lose by giving Williams a look at LT? Remmers played solidly at RT last year and it's not like we have an All-Pro at LT. There's absolutely nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain by giving him a few snaps there and see how he does. I don't know why this surprises anyone. After Williams was drafted, both Rivera and Gentleman said he'd get a look at both RT and LT. As far as the not being a prototype LT thing goes? Who cares? Virtually every 1st round bust was a prototype at his position while virtually every late round steal succeeded despite not being a prototype, unless he slipped due to off-field issues.

1 on 1 - Mario Addison vs Nate Chandler
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I really hope the Chandler experiment is over. Sign a vet OT as other teams trim down their rosters. There has to be a better option available than Nate Chandler. As much heat as Bell got for last season, Chandler was even worse. -
Panthers Training Camp Notes and Photos - Day 4
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
For the record, Britt allowed 41 QB hurries last season. That was the 2nd most in the NFL. I'm just going to assume that Bryon Bell allowed the most.- 37 replies

Panthers Training Camp Notes and Photos - Day 4
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wasn't overly impressed with Ealy as a rookie and the reports out of camp haven't been positive. Wasn't a fan of the pick at the time, but I just keep reminding myself that it wasn't until year three that CJ and Hardy really emerged.- 37 replies
