  1. Mayor Michael Hancock on Monday issued an order closing all restaurants and bars to on-site seating, effective 8 a.m. Tuesday through May 11. That's Denver, CO. That should send a pretty clear message to the "nothing burger" crowd that this is going to be over in a week or two.
  2. Pretty much. The overall traffic is a lot lighter at those hours but also likely a lot more irresponsible.
  3. Honestly, I wouldn't be completely shocked to find out I've already had it. I traveled a TON in January and February, including internationally. I spent a ton of time in the air and in airports. I developed the nastiest most lingering chest cold I've ever had that lasted the majority of February into early March and I still have an annoying lingering dry cough. The wife developed the same thing. It never bothered our four year old daughter in the least. Having COVID-19 never crossed my mind as a possibility because the protocol at that time was that if you hadn't directly traveled to an area of high impact then it wasn't considered to be much of a possibility.
  4. Unfortunately, we might already be looking at an Italy type or worse situation in some places. Seattle, NYC, etc. Colorado might be on that list too.
  5. China, Italy, etc. suggests otherwise. But, there is preliminary research suggesting that the spread of this virus will be significantly impacted by the warmer temps and higher humidity of summer. Not stopped mind you, but significantly less contagious. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/Papers.cfm?abstract_id=3551767 A lot of good that does us here in CO though. We're at least six weeks away from consistently warmer weather.
  6. stirs and Bronn took a timeout. Stop this poo y'all.
  7. I don't know why this is such a difficult concept for some to comprehend. If the healthcare system is overrun we're going to lose a lot of people due to other health issues simply because they won't be able to get the care that they normally would be able to. Those deaths won't be counted in the official tally but those deaths will in effect be due to COVID-19.
  8. Yeah, NYC is already a hotspot. That's pretty much a worst case scenario with this thing breaking out like wildfire in a VERY heavily populated area.
  9. Get it together y'all. This is getting close to being sent to the TB. Take your personal sniping there. No one else cares about y'all's dick measuring contest.
  10. This is the main thing that's bothering me about some of the news coverage. Seeing too many fear mongering articles focusing on anecdotal rate cases where healthy young people have had severe cases. Maybe it's a good thing, hell I don't know. Maybe the realization that it can be severe for even healthy younger adults can help people understand how important it is to mitigate this thing and follow the CDC's guidelines. But, it will probably also help send a lot of healthy young adults with a sniffle or a scratchy throat flocking to the ER when the likely have a cold or allergies and even if they did have COVID-19 the odds are heavily in their favor.
  11. Not gonna argue with you about BS here. Take it to the TB.
  12. If it's not a great source that's my bad. I pay literally zero attention to our media outlets. Every time I try to tune into one it feels like ingesting straight propoganda. A doctor friend posted it on FB. Removed the link. Message stands.
  13. I know a place where y'all can talk about the TB...
  14. There's been plenty of scary poo to read and there will plenty of scary poo in the coming weeks, but I think it's crucial to remember that we'll get through this and that there's light at the end of the tunnel.
  15. I don't think there's gonna be anything to talk about football related anytime soon buddy
  16. Alright, let's get it back on track. No more political sniping. We have the TB for that. Intelligent talk about this issue or take it to the TB.
  17. Go for it. We need a purge of stupidity. I have plenty of guns and ammo and I'll be here at the house isolating like a responsible human.
  18. Start freaking out then. It's probably going to happen. It needs to happen. Anyone shocked by such a development hasn't been paying attention to global news.
  19. Like I said earlier, fug the half steppin'. Rio the band-aid off. We're going to get to that point. Let's be proactive instead of reactive. We know what's coming.
  20. This. It can be mitigated. We can do this. But this attitude of "This is 'murica and I can do what the hell I want!" is not helping.
  21. I call this the LEEEROOOOOY JEEEEEEEENKIIINS!!!! approach.
  22. What's to be gained? Now you have a segment of the population who has been infected who will likely have natural resistance to the disease. Okay, but that's going to happen naturally without intentionally infecting healthy people and having to provide care and quarantine for them. Inevitably a small portion of them will still develop serious illness and a very small portion may even die. The optics on that are gonna be fuging AWFUL.
  23. Oh, it's definitely a terrible idea, but I think the risk of reinfection is near the bottom of the long list of reasons why.
