  1. Aaron Curry 2.0. Some guys check every box and still bust. Just a good reminder that there's no such thing as a sure thing in the draft.
  2. Watch him play. Watch how many times he gets around a single block and then just not even coming close to actually getting a sack. I mean NOT EVEN CLOSE. It's like watching a really athletic blind man just flailing.
  3. https://texags.com/forums/5/topics/3531986 Oh wee mayne... I really hope we stay away from this workout warrior.
  4. An isolated incident with a guy that everyone else is vouching for is one thing. But when it's an issue time and again with multiple people in multiple locations... well, where there's that much smoke there's usually fire.
  5. He's a projected 1st round pick, likely high 1st round pick. Teams are going to absolutely POUR through his background. They're going to talk to everyone they can find who knows this guy. Current and former teachers, current and former coaches, current and former teammates, current and ex-girlfriends, current and former friends, and on and on. If the guy is lazy and/or doesn't love football they'll find out.
  6. Bingo. I'm not pounding the table for T-Mac. I absolutely think he has the tools to be a good NFL WR. Great? Eh... I'm not sure I'm confident about that.
  7. Did you watch that Colorado game? I did. Despite being blown out Arizona ran the ball 34 times to only 26 passing attempts. Why? Because their OL absolutely could not protect the QB. They gave up more sacks (7) than they had in their six games prior to that one. It's hard to complete passes from your back or while you're running for your life and that was what they were dealing with in that game. Its like when Greg Olsen only had 4 catches for 41 yards and 0 TDs on 9 targets in SB50. Yeah, if you're just looking at the boxscore you might say that he got shutdown but if you actually watched the game you'd never talk about that because of the overall situation in the game. It wasn't that simple.
  8. Not loving watching film at a position that doesn't require a ton of film study doesn't necessarily equate to not loving football. I loved sales but I hated the bullshit of forecasting and analysis that wasn't helping me hit my numbers and was just forced on me by dinosaur management that thought that doing those things was required to excel and that there was a one size fits all approach to success.
  9. The analogy holds. You're just stuck on a viewpoint that doesn't allow you to see it. There's just not that much for most positions to know. WR isn't QB. A WR needs to be able to recognize coverage and know what to do on options routes. That's honestly about it. He's better off spending extra time on the field refining his route running than watching more film. If he doesn't want to do that now you have real red flags.
  10. I was a top performing sales rep at every company I worked at. I didn't do half of the forecasting and analysis work of most of the other sales reps because I didn't need to. I focused on what moved the needle and ignored the noise. Just because someone doesn't get bogged down on the tedious elements of their role doesn't mean that they lack work ethic or whatever bullshit. Football is like sales, all that matters at the end of the day is the results that you produce. Everything else is just noise and the people that don't produce try to hide their lack of production by appearing to work super hard. That doesn't impress me. Put up numbers. Period. Nothing else matters
  11. That's a huge reach based on one of the cuff comment from years ago. LOL
  12. How dumb does someone have to be to have to live in the film room to be able to properly run an option route? Let's be real here. LOL
  13. He's a WR, not a QB. Honestly it's not a huge deal. Listen to Cam talking about HOFer #4 all-time sack leader Julius Peppers QB is different. You HAVE to be an absolute film junkie at QB. If you're the QB of the defense with the speaker in your helmet communicating the calls and getting everyone set you have to be a film junkie. But a WR? You have to be able to recognize coverages and know what you're supposed to do on option routes. That's pretty much it. You don't have to live in the film room. Very few WRs are living in the film room. That's just the reality.
  14. I could almost look past the lack of sacks if he was getting TFLs and/or tackles. The guy was just there. Occupying space. Running around and just not making plays. His "highlights" are hilarious. Like... THIS is his BEST??? Oof. Stewart would have to play college ball until he's 40 to match Gholston's college stats. LOL
  15. I think he'll figure it out. Not sure if he'll prove to be worth a top 10 pick but I think he'll be a player. Shemar Stewart looks like a prototypical top 10 pick that's out of the league in 3-4 years and everyone looks back and is like "how in the hell did that guy who never did anything in college become a top 10 pick after running fast at the underwear Olympics?"
  16. That's Shemar Stewart for me. Anybody with those athleticism measurables and those practically non-existent stats is terrifying.
  17. It just seemed very kneejerk. We went with a guy with no NFL experience and that flopped so we went with a guy with tons of NFL experience next. We went with a guy with all the physical tools in Darnold before and that flopped so they go with the football savant Bryce next.
  18. It always seemed to me that he basically checked out when we drafted Bryce. I don't know if he was told or led to believe he'd have more influence on the QB position or if he just thought that he'd get in there and wow them with his football knowledge and end up getting his way but once it became clear that it was gonna be Bryce it just seemed like the air went out of his sails. And it makes sense. Everyone who knew about his history with the QB position had been saying that he was all about prototypical stature and arm strength. Nothing about Bryce fit his QB M.O. I just don't know whose fault the whole situation was. Was it the Panthers for misleading Reich or Reich expecting to coerce more influence? Because you can't convince me that the topic didn't come up through the interview process. As soon as Bryce was the guy it always felt destined to be square peg/round hole.
  19. "our schedule is ridiculously easy" Bold words coming from a fan of a team that might not be favored in any game. LOL
  20. Yeah, parting ways with Thomas and Sanders is classic roster addition by subtraction. They can be replaced for a lot less cap space with waiver wire FAs or day three draft picks.
  21. No. Please no. I like Carter a LOT but we aren't just one piece away. We need a talent infusion not just one key piece. We have just about dug ourselves out of the draft pick capital hole the Bryce trade created. Let's not create a new one. If I knew he was Von Miller 2.0 then sure. But no one KNOWS that and no one would accept that trade offer if they thought Von Miller 2.0 was there available to be drafted.
  22. This guy's evaluation is pretty much based entirely on whether you're comfortable with who he is off the field.
  23. Horn is very talent f but has missed damn near half the games of his career. Chuba proved to be a great pick. Tremble is an okay pick as a mediocre backup for a 3rd round pick. Kinda feels like that should be the bare minimum acceptable standard for a "successful" 3rd rounder. Christensen was another solid pick. This draft wasn't terrible. The problem is that it's our best draft in years when for a well ran organization it would be an average at best draft.
