Why is it still a bad thing to call a QB a “game manager “??
LinvilleGorge replied to recceice's topic in Carolina Panthers
Which is generally accurate of the QBs it's applied to. You don't necessarily have to have a dynamic game breaking QB if you have a brilliant offensive system with elite surrounding talent. The issue you run into is when you start having to pay everybody and making tough salary cap decisions. -
I think you should always be looking at RBs in the mid to late rounds because you shouldn't be looking to pay RBs on a second contract.
-
What we need to do is stop treating RB like a premium position. Chuba is doing a solid job and we got him for a mid-round pick. This is how the majority of the league has been treating the RB position for the last 20 years now. Panthers fans just haven't noticed because we keep acting like this is the 1980s and spending premium picks and salary cap on a luxury position

He's plenty good enough. You don't need a true RB1 in today's NFL. You haven't for decades now but that hasn't stopped the Panthers from investing heavily in positions of yesteryear, namely RBs and off the ball LBs. Outside of a handful of truly elite players those are "fill the gap" positions with draft picks and/or low to mid-level FAs. We've sorely lacked at more crucial positions because we invest heavily in the wrong positions.

My Eagles fan buddy told me he had poo for vision and that I'd get tired of seeing him run into the backs of OL when there's a gaping hole right there for a potential big gainer. We don't have the Eagles' OL and ability to keep defenses honest with a legitimate passing attack so there aren't those same gaping holes and that makes his vision issues even more readily apparent.

Why has Matt Rhule's wife made our best draft pick in recent years? Matt Rhule's wife for GM!

I know some of you will think this means nothing
LinvilleGorge replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
There are guys in training camps all across the league who work their asses off and have all the drive in the world but it just doesn't matter because they lack the physical talent. That's what Bryce looks like. A small school local UDFA signed for a feel good story. -
No.

If anyone is arguing we're a top 5 defense or even top 10, then yeah it's overrated. But I don't think many are arguing that. I think most have us somewhere in the middle of the pack which feels about right. Our yards are skewed to our benefit likely because teams are fairly conservative against us knowing we aren't gonna score much. Our points allowed are skewed against us likely because our anemic offense means we're consistently losing the field position battle.

Chuba is a solid RB. Nothing special but he's not a problem. Definitely the most improved player on the roster this year. By far.
-
He looked physically fine. His accuracy is just really spotty and his decision making and ball security aren't improving like you normally see with young QBs. He just doesn't seem to be developing. When you've started as many games as he has you shouldn't be making the types of mistakes he's consistently making.

No.

I meant that I wouldn't be surprised if one or both opted out of the interim role.
-
He definitely runs hot and cold. What's concerning this year is that the hot hasn't been all that hot. He honestly hasn't had a great game all year long.
-
I still keep going back to one of the big reasons why I wasn't sold on Herbert as a draft prospect. Back at Oregon they'd take the ball out of his hands in clutch situations. They were a pure running offense when it mattered. They didn't trust him with the ball which I found very odd.
-
He has all the talent in the world and made a nice improvement from his rookie year to his second year but it honestly seems like he's regressed this year. I'm just starting to doubt he's ever going to put together the consistency to be great.
-
We have one of the absolute worst offenses in the league. Keeping Brown would be insane. He's headed back to the position coach ranks after this year.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if one or both opted out after how we did Wilks. I mean, what's the point of you're not going to get a shot at the real job? I honestly can't recall anyone leveraging an interim HC opportunity into a HC offer elsewhere. It's like the rest of the league says "well, if he can't stick after a test drive there why should we hire him?"
-
You're trolling but honestly Lawrence is a significant disappointment based on his draft status and hype as a prospect. I never bought his Luck level hype but I thought he'd be one of those top 10 but not quite truly elite MVP caliber QBs and he's not even that. He's just too loose with the football and his accuracy is extremely spotty.
-
Hell no to Ron as DC. The Commanders have the worst D in the NFL. The game has passed him by and I honestly think he's lost his passion for coaching.
-
Jags are on the brink now. Going three and out there down two scores is rough. Not sure what "analytics" would say but honestly I think you gotta at least consider going for it on 4th and 2 there.
-
I told y'all this was gonna happen. He missed a ton of time here with lingering nagging injuries on bad teams. I said at the time that he would've been playing if we were contending but we're not so what's the point? Sons of former players tend to be a lot smarter in these types of things.
-
Damn. Not often a punt makes a highlight reel but a 59 yarder from the back of your own endzone is highlight worthy.
-
That'll be enough trolling for the evening. Shaping up to be a decent finish in tonight's game and the distractions got distracting.
-
He's done a good job this year. If it's not here I hope he gets another DC shot somewhere else next year.
