The Rhule era was clearly the far bigger disaster but Ron sums up his era perfectly. Missed opportunities. We had generational on both sides of the ball and we squandered the fug out of it. If Ron had the balls to not go with the in-house talent at OC when Chud left to coach the Browns things go a lot differently. Gettleman failing miserably to build an OL or receiving corps gets a strong honorable mention.

I've been trying to tell people. It's obvious when folks have only looked at baseline stats and haven't actually watched him play.

ESPN lays off employees, with more cuts to come
LinvilleGorge replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
This. I loved ESPN back in my younger days. My TV was on with ESPN playing in the background pretty much constantly during my college years. It was basically just SportsCenter and live sports. Then YouTube basically killed SportsCenter and ESPN evolved into live sports and shoes with morons just screaming at each other about things mildly sports related. Hell, half the time you try to watch a live sporting event on ESPN they're trying to do split screen graphics with their announcers or some idiotic stats or something. Yeah, ESPN fuging sucks and the sports world and world at large would be better off if it just died at this point. -
Works for me. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

I'm just sayin'...

You're gonna be surprised. Rodgers/Jets is gonna be a HUGE topic of conversation this week.

Selling a home and the related commisions

Yeah, that's the first thing that crossed my mind. Sounded like a "underlist this thing and make BANK scheme". -
He does but how this has dragged on wasn't on him. That was just the Packers and Jets haggling over the details that everyone pretty much knew was eventually going to get done so there wasn't a lot of urgency to get it done until we were staring down the barrel of draft day. Tepper has to be pissed about the timing though. This week was supposed to be all about his team and now the Rodgers news is gonna suck a lot of air out of the room with a team in the biggest media market in the country making a trade for a future first ballot HOF QB.

Yeah, that's pretty much how this whole draft prospect evaluation process as a fan goes.

I've made the statement that I get the impression that he's cocky implying that I think there's a good chance that he won't.
-
Marketer. All I care about is are you gonna put in the work required? That's it for me. That's the line between cocky and confident. If you realize that you have to work your ass off to achieve greatness there's humility in that realization even if you're brash and hold in your outward persona.

Because we're talking about them as prospects. None of them have played an NFL game yet. Should we just not talk about prospects at all?

PETER KING: Bryce Young will be the pick
LinvilleGorge replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The only way it makes sense is if you're a really good contender level type team and you think you're an elite talent at RB away from a SB run. Meaning you're holding that pick because you either landed it in a prior trade or your QB was hurt all year or something along those lines. -
Maye is talented as hell. I want to see how he operates next year. When the staff asked him to dial back the aggressiveness with his running I thought it clipped his wings a little bit and messed with his mojo. Yeah, he's gotta cut out the highlight reel helicoptering dives but you also have to trust the kid to pick his moments. He has to show growth in his game and decision making in that regard and the staff has to trust him a bit more. One of the reasons why I was so high on Howell and still am is that he was always able to adapt and just roll with whatever the coaches wanted him to do. Nothing seemed to effect his game and headspace. Receivers dropping balls, OL can't lay a hand on a pass rusher, coaches calling idiotic plays, coaches not wanting him to run at all early in his career then basically treating him like The Golden Calf of Bristol in his final year because him running was the only way they could move the ball... it just didn't matter. He just kept his head down and focused on the things he could control. Maye seemed rattled at times late in the season last year. I want to see growth out of him there. I think part of it was the expectations of the fast start, part of it was the coaches trying to reel him in and make him play the way they wanted him to play, and part of it was a lot of tension on the coaching staff. The relationship between Mack Brown and the OC was kinda falling apart. So, basically we'll see. Honestly though, if he was available in this draft I'd take him #1 overall.

Oher was pretty damn good for us before that concussion derailed his career. Not Jordan Gross but plenty competent.

Shaq is already starting to quietly talk retirement and Luvu is going into a contract season. You don't spend draft picks with only their rookie season in mind.
-
When people start hyper focusing on Williams as an NFL prospect they're gonna realize he holds onto the ball foooreeeerever. I'm not sold on him translating to the NFL if he can't speed up his processing.

Performing live at BOA for the draft party... If you know you know.

He looks like he's on HGH for sure. That looks like HGH gut.

I think there's a good chance that we end up trading down... from #39. I don't see a wheeler and dealer like Fitts just sitting on his hands from #39 to #94. Wouldn't surprise me to see us do something to get an extra day three pick or too as well. There's just two sections of the draft when there's gonna be a lot of picks made without us. Fitts is gonna wanna be in the action.

Yep. Draft 'em, let someone else pay them their second contract. IMO you should be drafting a mid-late round RV at least every other season. It's a churn and burn position. If you have an elite athlete kid who wants to play football, make sure he isn't playing RB.
