  1. I'm just not convinced Willis's skill set is all that otherworldly. He has a really good arm, but is he Josh Allen? Nah. He's fast, but I honestly think he's just standard "fast for an NFL QB" fast, not a Vick or Lamar type. To me, he plays like a smaller Cam Newton. How does Cam's career turn out if he was 5" shorter and 40 pounds lighter? I'm a huge Cam fan, but... As for Howell, yeah I think Baker is a decent physical comp. Baker's problem is between his ears.
  2. I'll bet you anything you want to bet that Howell is drafted prior to day three of the draft.
  3. I think that too. But you'd still be dunking on me that Howell sucks if he was playing decently for a bad team. I mean hell, most of the Huddle already thinks that about him because UNC sucked while he was basically playing like MVP Cam for them.
  4. Of course it would be disappointing, but rewind to prior to the regular season finale at duke. We were considered a bubble team. I think Lunardi had as one of his last four teams in the field. Considering that, the run this team has been on since then... I mean, holy poo. It's been FUN.
  5. Ultimately, I think he goes to the Steelers at #20.
  6. I don't think the college systems have as much impact on that evolution as the changes to pass interference and illegal contact have made. The reality is that it's just a lot easier to have a high flying passing offense in the NFL nowadays than it was 20 years ago.
  7. Vick in a modern NFL offense is a scary thought. Don't kid yourself.
  8. Yeah, if I'm banking on a legit QB out of this class, I'd take Howell over the field. It's an insane bet because you don't know where a guy is going to land. I mean, Howell could get drafted into some terrible situation to some poo franchise with a losing overall record and a brand new super genius hedge fund owner who has proven to be a moron in the NFL and coached by some hack of a mid-level college coach with full say over football matters and an OC who couldn't get any other NFL job after being fired as a head coach... oh wait...
  9. If that's what they're doing it's working about as well as that Mac Jones smokescreen.
  10. Betting on the outcome of draft picks is dumb. Betting on the outcome of a draft prospect's career is even dumber. Sorry, but them's facts
  11. I think that kid has family in his ear giving him terrible advice. They think that kid is Kevin Durant.
  12. @Zod has to make it if we do. I ain't fuging with this mojo. If he doesn't make a new thread we're rolling with this one.
  13. Not really. He's gonna be the third or fourth QB taken. I think it's a mis-evaluation but it is what it is. Go back and look at my posts about the 2017 draft. Supposedly a weak QB class. Major questions about all the top QB prospects. Smart move was to take advantage of the strong WR class, right? Well, two of those QBs turned out to be Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes and of the three top 10 WRs two were outright busts.
  14. So this won't really be a weak class if the same happens this year? I won't be at all shocked if three QBs go in the top 15 or so picks and I'm expecting four in the 1st round.
  15. Agreed. But it seems a lot of Huddlers think these pre-draft class evaluations are rooted in fact. That Mahomes/Watson draft was considered a really strong WR class. Three WRs went in the top 10 over Mahomes and Watson. Those WRs? Corey Davis, Mike Williams, and John Ross. Holy poo. OOPS!
  16. The guy we just spent the better part of the last year and a half trying to trade the entire franchise to get was the third QB chosen in a "weak QB class". He was chosen two picks after Patrick Mahomes. They went #10 and #12 overall. Class sure doesn't seem weak now, does it?
  17. No, drafting a bust won't help us. But neither would drafting a bust of an OT or any other position. Interesting note: Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson were also in that draft class and were picked later in the 1st. No one would mind picking a guy like that.
  18. Hell no. It's a huge red flag to be willing to cut bait on a top pick after only one year, much less one you've mortgaged the future of your franchise on to acquire.
  19. From the sounds of it the Niners are in the midst of some serious buyer's remorse.
  20. Should be. But we we've been saying that for years and here we sit with three consecutive five win seasons to show for it.
  21. Stay the course? Hell, I'd be up for doing anything other than staying the course that has produced three straight five win seasons.
  22. I don't see it. They gotta do something at QB. Jameis Winston is their current penciled in starter and they don't have a 1st next year.
  23. I have to chuckle at this widespread Huddle sentiment that an NFL team can just sit back and choose a new franchise QB prospect at their leisure. Let's say next year's class is another very strong on paper class. Well, guess what? If we're sitting at #6 again we're probably gonna be too low.
  24. It's kinda odd to me that all the talk about Trey Lance not even being close to ready doesn't have people backpedaling pretty hard on Willis. They just seem so similar as prospects IMO. If anything, Willis might even be more raw.
  25. Yeah, it's weird to me that the team that gave Teddy a big contract and sung a significant trade for Darnold while immediately picking up his option supposedly has zero interest in a QB who has shown a lot more than either of those other guys. I mean, maybe the word is out that Baker is just THAT toxic. It's definitely possible.
