  1. This. I agree with them that there will probably be at least one quality QB in this class but their odds of identifying and choosing that QB is worse than Hurney's odds in the 2nd round.
  2. Riddle me this... What is the advantage for a player with a contract with big guarantees with lots of dead money to play through injuries on a bad team? Now the same question for the team. This isn't about conspiracy theories. It's about business sense. When you have a player you've made a big investment in it makes no sense to have that guy playing through injuries risking further more serious injury on a team that isn't contending. You're already upside down on the contract. The smart move is to protect your investment. Same for the player. You're not playing for a contract. You've got your contract. You're not playing for glory and a ring, the team is going nowhere. It's one of those situations where the smart play for both parties is to just sit it out for next year though neither party can come out and publicly admit it.
  3. I told y'all that Rhule was going to leave us gutted both in draft capital and cap space. This is part of that process.
  4. Note: Salyer listed as an OT, but I'm drafting as an OG.
  5. Yeah, that's the message I'd be putting out too. You're rarely if ever going to have a player admitting to a "business decision" on whether he plays or not. Nor a team for that matter but we've all watched as IR lists balloon as teams get mathematically eliminated. Coincidence? I think not.
  6. Exactly. So why risk further injury? He has his bag. You see this routinely in the NFL. The player has no incentive to play through injury and the team has a big investment to protect. Unless you're contending it makes no sense for those guys to play through injuries. Stop reacting and think.
  7. I'm suggesting he isn't playing at anything less than 100% and why would he? The team sucks. It's not in his best interest or the team's with their financial commitment for him to be playing banged up even if he gets medical clearance. You're just being hyper-emotional, per usual.
  8. Wouldn't surprise me if good old dad hasn't been in his son's ear reminding him that his former teammate is a great example of why you have to look out for yourself and not the team (especially when the team is ass) with injury management. The team won't be there for you if you gamble and lose because they're always going to do what they perceive as best for them.
  9. Find me another top player who has missed as much time over such a relatively short period with no major injuries (torn ligaments, broken major bones, QB with throwing arm injuries, etc). CMC has missed a ton of time with relatively run of the mill minor injuries. It just doesn't add up.
  10. That's the message I'd want put out there too. But the specific injuries and the time missed just don't add up.
  11. Most athletes don't have fathers who played a decade plus in the NFL having a much different perception of football as business than the average player.
  12. Duke started out tight from the nerves. They tightened up again when Carolina took the lead late. K just never recognized it. He left them hung out there to dry. He also never adjusted to UNC changing the way they played Banchero. They had no answer for him isolating early on but once they softened to avoid giving up the drive and to give up the shot Banchero proved unable to score when he couldn't get to the rim. Forcing him to settle for pull ups led to a lot of missed shots and ultimately Carolina rebounds. The most beautiful thing about that loss for duke is that it was a really poor night of coaching for K.
  13. He would've 100% played in more games over the past two seasons had we been contending. Whether that was CMC's call or someone else's I don't know.
  14. If your "franchise player" is a RB in today's NFL then your team sucks. The Titans are the high water mark of how far a RB led team can go and they still have a pretty decent QB and a great D.
  15. I don't think he's worth that but I think he's worth more than we should pay.
  16. I'm of the opinion that a lot of the time CMC has missed over the past two seasons with non-serious injuries are likely of the "I ain't wearing out the tread on these tires for this bullshit" variety. Don't be surprised if he suddenly gets a lot more durable if he's playing for a playoff contender.
  17. #6 would be my choice and I'd still sign another free agent IOL.
  18. IMO, Chinn's ideal role is as a cover 3 strong safety. Think prime Kam Chancellor in Seattle. That's a system where the FS covers the deep third (think prime Earl Thomas in Seattle) and the SS covers underneath in the mid-range or drops down into the box. We need a legit over the top FS to free him up to do this. That's the type of player we really don't have any history with. We've always prioritized SS types at safety. Deon Grant is probably the closest we have in our history to fitting the bill.
  19. Once you transition into "just here to watch the train wreck" mode it gets a lot less frustrating. Just FYI.
  20. It was crazy how quickly that game got out of hand coming down the stretch. I kept waiting for K to call a timeout to stop the bleeding and regroup but he never did. Even former players in the crowd were signaling for a timeout. Everyone saw what was happening except for K. Duke was on the ropes but it didn't occur to him until it was top late to do anything about it.
  21. All the sobbing faces in the crowd were hilarious. You might be the most privileged people on Earth if you're crying over an egomaniac's botched curtain call.
  22. Hurney Derangement Syndrome. As long as it's not Hurney it's good and to be defended no matter what. These people still think Gettleman was brilliant.
  23. He's just not very good. Big, athletic, powerful dude with subpar skill set who hasn't improved. He'll always have a punchers chance but legitimately good fighters are going to beat him most of the time. That's back to back 1st round knockout losses and he got flat out dominated last night.
