Panthers Training Camp Notes and Photos - Day 4
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wasn't overly impressed with Ealy as a rookie and the reports out of camp haven't been positive. Wasn't a fan of the pick at the time, but I just keep reminding myself that it wasn't until year three that CJ and Hardy really emerged.- 37 replies

Disappointing to hear about Ealy. I didn't like the pick at the time but was hoping for the best. Still am.- 37 replies

I'm not a huge fan of having a starter at one position being the primary backup for another. If something happened to Kalil, instead of just having to adapt to a new guy at C, the OL would have to adapt to two changes - new C and new RT. That's assuming that Remmers will be the starter at RT.

Ginn is highly likey to be the 3rd or 4th WR on the depth chart.
-
Unless we change our philosophy, I don't see how it makes sense to keep 6-7 WRs. We rarely go 5 wide and Olsen is always in there on passing downs, so we rarely have more than 3 WRs on the field at a time. If that remains the case, which I almost certainly think it will, keeping 6-7 WRs isn't a good move.

For the record, I fully reserve the right to panic if during the preaseason Oher is waving defenders through like a cop directing traffic.
-
Seems like most are deeply divided on Oher. Some want to disregard any negative and blindly hope he's the answer. Some have already made up their mind that he sucks and we're going to have a turnstile at LT again. We're 4 days into training camp. Calm down folks. Lots of guys are going to have some ups and downs through camp. I want to see some preseason game action before I get too concerned or too excited.

Star iced up and carted off. Not good. Not good at all.

Jonathan Stewart remarks on Lee Ward....
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we probably try to stash this guy on the PS this year. -
Not encouraging, but not time to panic yet.
-
Not sure what y'all are watching or what y'all expected, but Oher won that. He mirrored Alexander perfectly and didn't give up much ground at all despite getting bent back. I like to see a guy get in a bad spot like that and fight through it. That stuff is gonna happen from time to time and you have to be able to react and adjust. That's what Oher did. All of y'all would be fapping over Oher right now if he didn't get his head snapped back. If refs called that as holding there would be flags littering the field on literally every snap.

At first glance I thought that was Rampage Jackson.

Yep, likely just a camp body which is fine at this point. Camp starts in a week and we needed a body at OT. You can bet we'll be watching the waiver wire as teams trim down to their 53. There's a pretty good chance that there's a backup OT on our final 53 who isn't currently on the roster. I sure hope we aren't putting any eggs in the Nate Chandler basket. That experiment has thoroughly failed.

Harvard - Panthers bottom 10 team in 2015

If you wanted academic advice, Harvard would be a great resource. For football advice? LOL. -
Fun Fact: Panthers Receivers in the Playoffs
LinvilleGorge replied to Seal (SmittyIsOurSavior)'s topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep, a Smitty type big play threat would be ideal opposite KB. -
Both Wilson and the Seahawks are making a mess of this thing. Wilson started with the "I'll go play baseball" BS which was just laughable. Then the Seahawks' GM puffed up his chest and started talking big about how they'd be willing to let Wilson walk and that was big mistake. Now Wilson and his agent seem out to prove a point and that point may well be to show that they can make him the highest paid player in the history of the NFL. They know if he just continues to play decently, the Seahawks will continue to be a very good team and that'll be enough to make some desperate team (*cough* Browns *cough*) show up at his doorstep with a blank check and tell him to fill in the number that it'll take. Not sure what the Seahawks' cap space looks like, but the QB franchise tag is really big the first year. It's huge the second year.
-
It's going to be tough to get him on the 53 if we keep Tolbert which seems likely unless he can serve double duty as a blocking TE. Would love to be able to stash him on the practice squad to take over from Tolbert down the road.

Frank Kaminsky looking good in summer league
LinvilleGorge replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Charlotte Hornets
LOL! What? Jamison was one of the quickest players on the bounce I've ever seen. He could jump twice quicker than most guys could jump once. The guy seemed like he was playing on a logo stick. Kaminsky and Jamison couldn't be much more different as players and as athletes. Kaminsky can be a dangerous complimentary player on offense, but I think he'll almost certainly always be a defensive liability. I basically view him as a less athletic version of Brad Miller. Smart player with the ability to stretch the floor with his shooting ability from the 5 spot. -

I won't fight you fight you for it. Agree that SD > LA, but you can have them both. I just wish that CA could do a better job retaining their people. There's a full on Californian invasion here in CO.
-
I have to go toto southern CA quite a bit for work. Can't wait to leave every single time.

She wasn't attacking him when he slapped her with that belt like he was Indiana Jones. That was indefensible, not to even mention the UFC style ground and pound he was unleashing on that guy toward the end who already looked badly hurt if not even unconscious. You gotta be demented to think there's nothing wrong with that video. Seriously.
-
Watched the video. Dude is done.
-
Seriously. Sometimes the guys who never played at any level expose themselves. OL and DL on the same team are rarely friends. You usually don't like each other much because you're going at it everyday in practice.
