  1. I think it was really Fitterer that convinced the Teppers and I'm no fan of the Teppers. Fitterer had a hard on for Young going back 2 years before the draft. Reich had no say in the personnel decisions even though he says he signed off on it. He clearly stated before the draft that Scott picked the players and he decides who starts. That was the dynamics behind the scenes. So the drama before the draft is all for show. It was a clown show behind the scenes and was doomed from the start.
  2. That has always been my concern with this selection. They supposedly evaluated the top 4 and after months of evaluation they decided to go with the longest of Longshots after giving up a kings ransom to do so. It was doomed from the moment they thought they were 1 player away. You cannot trade up to take a chance on a Longshot at qb when the odds against a 1st overall pick working out is already low to begin with. It's just doesn't make sense to me.
  3. Scott Fitterer, David Tepper, Nicole Tepper and Frank Reich.
  4. True. They did look like backups out there. There wasn't a dawg among them unless a Chihuahua counts.
  5. It worked when Capers was our coach. But you have to have the LB's suited for it. Unfortunately, the current team doesn't.
  6. I tell you its that black cat mascot. Sir Purr is to blame for all of this.
  7. Well, that's a wrap folks. The defense could not afford to lose 1 single starter. After yesterday's performance I don't see any way this team can win a single game this season.
  8. Both can be true. Reich was a bad coach and the entire staff that Fitterer put together was terrible. The qb is not a nfl qb and Canales will have to prove he can build a winning team that includes a competent qb.
  9. Well he kept saying that they were getting the reps they need in camp. We also heard the defense was giving them fits. Where was that defense yesterday. I guess our offense made them look infinitely better than they actually were. But to your comments about playing time together, it wouldn't have made much difference in the end. Maybe they lose by 30 instead of 37, that's about all I've got.
  10. I was shocked at how bad they were. The most shocking things was that they played with no heart at all. They got pushed around and made fun of repeatedly and didn't do a single thing about it.
  11. The team was either going through the motions or just wasn't prepared. It sure looked like both to me.
  12. That's what the FO decided to do and will have to live with that decision this season. Why is irrelevant at this point. But it's obvious the answer is not on the roster unless Plummer has some Brock Purdy locked up inside ready to be released. This team has more needs than the next 2 drafts can fill.
  13. From reports out of camp he was the Ian Thomas of the qb group in practice. It appears it's the actual game he has difficulty with, just like Ian.
  14. Any competent qb's that are out there are already starting for other teams or are their backups. None of the guys available are "better" than what we have. It would be the same results with a different face. If you're going to make a change it has to be for someone you "think" has a shot at being something worth investing in. To me it's just another waste of time and it will not change the fact that the team must draft a qb in the next draft.
  15. I think he was regretting not hedging his bet on the qb position. But in fairness that may not have been an option for him this season. And to be honest there wasn't anyone out that was going to change that. They weren't going to draft another rookie while they are trying to salvage the one they have invested so much in. So in reality it was either Young turns it around or it's over for him. If things don't change immediately I think the entire qb room will get overhauled after the season is over. If Young is still here it will be as a backup solely based on his contract.
  16. There's not a veteran out there that's going to help THIS TEAM win a game.
  17. So far our 3rd string qb has outplayed Young. Let that soak in for a minute. Hell just throw him out there when Young eventually craps the bed again. We already know Dalton wasn't brought in to be a real backup but only a mentor for Young.
  18. Ask me after the cfb season is over. I will have to watch more cfb now to see of some of these qb's have a chance in hell of making it in the nfl. So far none of them to me has screamed an nfl qb.
  19. They never got the chance to go against starters in the preseason outside of joint practices. Just like the defense showed today, they can only compete against backups. What does that tell you about the state of this team?
  20. "Not sure" would have been appropriate for last season. Today removed all doubt.
  21. Bryce was going to be the starter this season because they are desperately trying to salvage their investment, at least for a little while longer. I think they will be forced to move on after today. But they have nobody to move on with. So whatever happens next is anyone's guess. There's nothing really they can do until the draft gets here. Anyone they throw out there now is just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. We are still FUBAR.
  22. The defense had no excuse. They let NO score on 9 straight drives. If they hadn't put in the backups they would have scored on every drive. That's not due to short fields or being tired. That's because they sucked and couldn't stop the starting unit period.
