Not smart for a guy trying to keep his roster spot.

Panthers plan to pick up Brian Burns fifth year option
Jon Snow replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was kinda hoping they would trade him. But we are already thin at DE so gotta keep him. He's not worth top DE money in my book. -
Apparently that's not an option. All I'm doing at this point is predict what I expect to happen with what's going on. The trouble I'm having is trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

It does seem like cutting your nose off to spite your face kind of thing. So they ship Darnold and a "young player" plus half Sam's salary most likely to do what? They would be left with PJ Walker and two vacant roster spots at QB to fill. With meager FA pickings and word they are reportedly not taking one in the draft I just don't see a plan here. It's like Watson was the only plan they had. He was plan A thru Z. I'm going to have to stock up on popcorn.

It will be up on their website after it is over if you miss it.

I would not say that is entirely true. It counts, just not as a measure of his throwing ability.
-
Is he woth a damn on special teams? Because if not it's a bad signing.
-
I admit I know nothing about any of them other than a few highlight videos. It really doesn't matter to me which one they pick as long as it's the right one. I do admit to being intrigued by Penning and his mean streak. We need more of that on the online.
-
Then why does the Cardinals want to ship him? Don't bother to answer that. You think it will be different here. Just like it would be different for Teddy, and Sam, and Cam. It won't.
-
And all of that didn't matter when he got rattled in the playoffs and folded like a lawn chair. Handling pressure is important.
-
We will see if he gets paid. I would be against signing him even as a FA. Trading multiple 1st round picks is a no go for me. But given our current situation I would hope for the best if thats the direction they decide to go.
-
That would be a huge mistake. If he was going to be franchise defining qb the Cardinals would not trade him for anything. He's not Mahomes lite, he's a Mahomes wannabe.
-
Murray? Pass. That dude doesn't want to play football and gets rattled too easily.
-
A traffic cone is better depth.
-
You have got to be kidding. He should be paying the team to get a tryout. Dude gets beat like a drum.
-
I was with you until you said Mayfield.

I honestly think he gets another year if he drafts a rookie. That's the only way any of this makes sense. If they had landed Watson he most likely Rhule would have to make the playoffs at minimum to keep his job. Now that he's forced to go with a rookie and what looks to be another scrub FA not named Sam Darnold his gets 2 more seasons.

Not as easy as backing up Tom Brady. But point taken. Lawrence has a difficult road ahead of him in his career. He's going to have to hang on until Jacksonville figures out how to build a team around him and stay injury free in the process. I'm not liking his odds as it stands right now.

Word is he's a terrible leader.
-
I would like to see his face when that question comes up.

Electrical short circuit and plastic should do it.

This was not a secret.

This should shock no one. So now what? PJ?
