  1. I hate to say this, but anyone watching the OL like I do (used to coach OL so I got trained to do so) would realize that the middle of the OL was the biggest problem. Not to say that OT was on point, but BC was decent there when I watched. Does that mean he is the next Joe Thomas? No, but all NFL offensive lines have a weak link--it is when you have 2 that it becomes problematic. The salary cap will prevent you from having an OL with 5 top notched players--so you need to be good at 2, decent at 2, and maybe developing at 1. I think BC has the athleticism to be decent.
  2. I think the Panthers are going to either take that tackle or edge rusher (since there are 6 elite players, one will be there) or they are trading back to the middle of the draft and taking Corral. So I will say with precise uncertainty: #6 Neal OR #15 or so: Corral and then Zion Johnson (G/C from BC) in round 2. Corral has the quick release and is accurate. He is a good athlete and can run the RPO. Good fit in this offense.
  3. He likes to fish--saw him fishing for trout at South Mtn. once. Spoke to him, but a crowd gathered. One of them said, "Who is that guy talking to MHS831?" Well, the first part of that was true.
  4. Baker on a 1-year "prove it" fifth year deal is not the solution, but it could happen that way--if he balls out, they could lock him down, but I doubt anyone here would be happy about Baker at $40m per going forward. He is up and and down. I would ask that Cleveland pays half his fifth year option. And for 1 year, if the locker room sours with him, you let him go. I dunno. typing this made me feel slimy.
  5. The longer they are unsigned, the cheaper they become.
  6. I think we plan to trade back, grab a QB, but if that fails, we can go after one of these two. I do not think staying with Darnold is the plan, even if for 1 year.
  7. Seriously--the QB bust rate is so high it means that nobody really knows.
  8. Are we talking about what you would do or what they will do? I am predicting what I think they will do.
  9. Interesting stuff about Willis---you have to love the person and his upside. I still think that we are going to either take Pickett or trade back and take Corral or Howell. Just a gut feeling.
  10. Not that related, but did you know that Kenny Pickett is 5 months OLDER than Green Bay's Jordan Love? I want Matt Corral or Sam Howell in a trade back. While they could become starters, we don't have a decent backup either.
  11. Good way of looking at it. I am happy we have Fitterer and not Gettlemen this year. They are probably exact opposites. If Fitterer thinks he can get his QB by trading back, that is what we are going to do. If we HAVE to pick at #6, I expect a T or edge rusher.
  12. I am not a fan of Cross over Icky, but I see the logic behind it. I just think they feel confident at LT with Christensen there (he is now nearly a 26-year old veteran and not a rookie). His elite athleticism should shine there once the game slows down for him. The fact that he played LT only out of necessity last year is on Rhule. No excuse for not developing rookies when you suck. I think the Panthers will be making a mistake taking a QB at 6. at 15 or so, go for it, but have a lineman in mind on day 2.
  13. Last year, the QBs were better--so many think. The QBs came from schools with solid defenses, solid weaponry, etc. Major schools in their class: Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, ND State (FCS powerhouse), and BYU (had a soft schedule). This year? Ole Miss, Cincinnati, UNC, Liberty, and Pitt. Of course they are not going to look as good--they were on programs that were not as established--so of course they appeared to be lesser QBs. Less hype, less PR, less national spotlight=weak QB class. Nope--not when the fourth overall pick was the best QB in 2022--when Davis Mills (3rd) was the second best.
  14. I think the cap room is insurance--if they trade back, do not get the qb, they can bring one in if necessary. However, I really think part of the plan at QB is to see how Darnold does with an actual OL-- I think that is plan C, but it is a plan.
  15. Panthers are going to trade back at least once and walk away with Howell or Corral. So it was written. I cant tell you all how much I am looking forward to my favorite 3 days of the year
  16. someone will trade up for a LT or a pass rusher. 3 LTs could have top 10 grades (Ickey, Neal, Cross) 3 DEs could have top 10 grades (Walker, Thibodeaux, Hutchinson) So if a QB, WR, CB, or S is drafted in the top 5, there is a major stud there for a trade....Gonna happen, folks--that is why we are taking such a close look at the top 5 qbs...
  17. Here is how I think it could be playing out: We don't see a lot of difference between QB 1 and 5, so trade back and take the last man standing. If that fails, you still have a shot at Howell or Ridder. Personally, I think Corral goes sooner than expected and Pickett drops. I mean, we are not considering 2 of the top 5 QBs at #6, so it seems the SMART play is to try to trade back and get a QB--to me, there are 5 that are pretty even. So by having them all in Charlotte, it does not guarantee a QB at #6, it suggests that we want to know how far back we can move.
  18. from what I saw, he is average--and the way they moved him around, understandable. Great athlete and a great coach-- I think Bozeman will be the LG and Elf will play C. Love for Elf to be depth.
  19. So Humperdoo is Darnold? I want to watch this now--for some reason.
