  1. This is a la Jimmy Clausen--KC and Minn passed on him twice and they needed qbs
  2. I thnk we are taking Sanker later and going edge now....
  3. Egos don't go away when you retire from the game--it is hard to be close to the game and not get that drive back--vicariously. You sound like a good dad--and I had to back off because my sons were not that interested. The found other stuff to be good at--
  4. well said. And Shedeur has a reason to think that--this is his wake up call. Not that he has the talent to rebound and answer it. I was an assistant coach in high school and the head coach bragged about how good his son was--he was slow and a turd. He talked about him playing DI college football. He moved him to punter and lied about his stats--still, he could not get his son a scholarship. He called Fisher DeBerry at Air Force--where there are no football scholarships--and sent his son there to save face. His son was terrible; I heard that half the team could punt better than him. And he was a turd--got kicked out. Dad set him up to fail and he failed. Sorry for the stories--I just see so much of this Dadism hurting kids.
  5. I want to give him a break, then he does something that shows me that he is out of touch. My Dad caught 34 passes at South Carolina as a sophomore the year I was born and was All ACC--much smaller scale--but I spent my life trying to fill his shoes and live to his standards--it is tough. you are in a different world--when Dad died, Dan Reeves came to his funeral and spent 20 minutes telling me stories that I never knew--you feel as if you were born into a royal family and you are not worthy-- So for that reason, I sorta get it--how much is this Dad and how much is this SS? Dad is using it to recruit, and somehow, Colorado is the feature story nearly every day for a month prior to the draft. Two players. Meanwhile, Ohio State had 4 first rounders and will probably have 4 more tonight, and we barely know who they are.
  6. As the expert in all things football, I have no idea. I think the edge rushers are deep in round 2--six or more that we might like. I would sit tight. If they trade up, the go for Emmanwori or Watts--I see them drafting Scourton, for some reason. I dont think they add DT (we got brown back, added 2 more DTs in free agency) until day 3. I would not be surprised to see an OT in round 3, but it will probably be something like Scourton in round 2, Sanker or OT in round 3.
  7. Gonna be the story until someone does. May decided that he can make more money at Colorado. Not sure what daddy paid Shedeur.
  8. Just watched Shedeur's speech about not getting drafted--Impressive. Maybe this dose of humility is exactly what he needed. I am guessing Cleveland or the Raiders today.
  9. People are looking at this as if the position drafted determines the quality of the player, and anyone who drafts a player before others would is stupid. It is about fit. It is about the extent of research done by the scouts and coaches. You take the player you want before others who were interested would take them. Dallas (12) and the Rams were trying to trade up. What we know? The Panthers valued TMac higher than Walker. And if the Dallas and Rams rumors are true, there were three teams who thought he was worth at least the 12th overall pick. So was TMac overdrafted? Comparing him to last year's draft is stupid. There were a bunch of receivers last year and they were solid. It was not a normal year--so your control group is skewed. Secondly, you have the law of "supply and demand." Did the Panthers need a WR? Was TMac the best WR this year? (if you don't count Hunter), probably. There were other buyers and TMac meets a need. His value is not determined by previous drafts--it is determined by need, fit, and availability. Did the Panthers reach? If the Dallas and Rams rumors were true, NOPE.
  10. My view about taking TMac. 1. He is the only WR in this draft class that is referred to (based on my research) as a No. 1 WR. If you asked a Panther fan what the Panthers needed at WR, they would say, "No. 1, X WR." The Panthers hoped XL would step into that role, but as a #2, he should find more success. TMac should struggle at times next year, but with AT, XL, and Coker--there will be less pressure on him. 2. One site compared him to Tee Higgins. The Panthers were rumored to be interested in Tee Higgins in free agency. 3. Other teams (Dallas, LA Rams) wanted TMac. When the Panthers took TMac, Micah Parsons got upset on a podcast and it was reported that the Rams tried to trade up. Now, consider that we wanted to move back and were going to give a discount to trade back, it is odd that they (probably) turned down trade up offers. 4. Vegas odds (Fan Duel) predicted that TMac was going to be the pick at 8 (odds shifted). What did they know?
  11. Good point. Walker, Williams--too risky--not great fits. We needed a top WR--a #1, and the draft had 1 who fits that description. I disregarded him early, but at the end of the day, he was the safest pick at a need position.
  12. good point. I just learned this: Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is already quite familiar with his new quarterback. On Thursday night, McMillan was selected by the Panthers with the eighth overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft. That means he'll officially be joining fellow first-round choice and fellow California native Bryce Young over in Carolina. But this won't be the first time the two will be linking up. As first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport following the selection, McMillan and Young had been "quietly" throwing together in Los Angeles in the lead-up to the draft. McMillan, during his chat with reporters, talked about that relationship—one he's now repeatedly dubbed the "Cali-to-Cali" connection. "We played against each other in high school, so we just kinda knew of each other," he stated. "I was fortunate enough to recently meet him, probably about a month ago for the first time at 3DQB in Cali. And I was fortunate enough, it was my first time ever, catching the ball from him and running routes for him. So I guess you could say we got a head-start on our chemistry." Hopefully for the Panthers, that chemistry between their 5-foot-10 passer and their 6-foot-4 pass catcher continues to grow.
  13. No. Section 3, Article 4, part b. "You cannot be happy about a pick and still be butthurt." I am warming to the pick. I mean, if we did not go wr early, we would have a questionable room in 2025. They are still primarily concerned with Bryce's maturation, it seems. They will draft a T sooner than we thing too because Moton is possibly banged up and leaving in 2026.
  14. I hesitated to read this thread because I knew the butt-hurt bitches who attack others would be out if full force--spewing prophecies and personal attacks---so I won't respond to the second guessers. The bottom line: We drafted the top WR in the draft. At some point, we would have to add a WR to our WR room. There are a lot of Edges left today, a lot of safeties that should be available today. Personally, I did not see the Walker or the Williams fit--but I too was convinced that we would take Walker. That had to increase the sting in some anal cavities and the only cure for that is go on a discussion board and raise hell like a toddler with a moth stuck to his lollipop. Some scholar said, "How did (XL) work out?" Pure dumbassery. We knew he was raw and only had a few starts under his belt. Then he hurt his foot in camp. For many games, he had old Bryce and Dalton as his QB. I was not a TMac endorser. But that does not matter now. He is a Panther. XL is a Panther. Coker is a Panther--that is a pretty solid core of young WRs if they play to their potential. Gotta be hopeful and excited about the WR room. Nobody gives a crap if you or I like the pick or not.
  15. So much depends on the sources you lean on--I am very excited about the edge group today--more than yesterday, to be honest, if you consider fit and value.
  16. Two or three dozen huddlers have obtained my personal information from DOGE teen hackers and contacted me about today. First, I think the Panthers will draft and Edge in round 2, but since there is so much depth at the position with little variance, they could draft S before Edge, depending on how the draft unfolds. Watch the Ohio State Edges, Swinson, or Scourton. I fear they will panic and trade up; there are at least 10 Edges who could help us; let them come to you, Dan (he is one of the people who got my personal info from the SS Website). But there are some good safeties, and I think they really like Sanker, who could be in the fourth round. If Watts is there in the second, the Panthers could take him over an edge. He is special.
  17. Good quote. I can't imagine how he felt when Pittsburgh, a team with only the hope of Rodgers at 41, drafted a DT. Shedeur probably has not faced rejection like that. I like him. I understand what it is like to be him, to a lesser degree. Now we need to see if he gets the Jimmy Clausen "double down punch in the gut". Minnesota and KC (in 2010) needed a QB. They passed on him in round 1 and then again round 2.
  18. They have been solid lately--and maybe they see something. I remember when it looked as though the safest pick in the draft in 2021, Sewell, was going to bust--he struggled early. Now one of the best if not the best.
