That is what I have heard--not seeing BB as a west coast guy, but Herbert was the deal breaker for me. I think Atlanta is a close second, fwiw.
-
That is a thought, but I would hope they would not have zeroed in on a type yet--but who knows?

That could suggest that they are going to overhaul the scouting department? If I were GM, I would have the scouts pitch the candidate to the head coach and me. I get the feeling our scouts were not given the respect they should have been given. They are the real talent evaluators--we shall see. However, if I see the Teppers at the combine or pro days, I am going to send someone a blistering letter mind you.

Nice zinger. She married a billionaire. I am pretty sure that is her specialty! But Hedge funds, Appaloosa, brass desk balls, analytics. Ain't that how football works?

Glad you are back--I left for a while as well. thanks for these informative, important threads. Although I love the threads about how Bryce cannot ride all the rides at Carowinds due to his vertical disadvantage, I am happy to digest some real news. You are the best.

If Bill B switches teams, I am guessing the Chargers. Established QB. The Raiders are going to hire their interim. They have done it before, and frankly, Pierce deserves the job (went 5-4, I think, and is popular with the players). Atlanta is an appealing gig. They drafted TE and RB in the first round, which is odd, but both are good players. I would not be surprised to see Vrabel end up there if Tennessee lets him go. Washington needs a QB and they have the #2 pick--which means they will be drafting a franchise QB. This job may be the most attractive to any perspective coach for that reason. The Commanders MAYE have 2 UNC QBs on the roster by mid spring. Any coach would love that situation. Carolina has a rep for firing coaches that do not get immediate results, but the QB position is a #1 overall draft pick who struggled mightily in 2023. The owner is a meddler. We are not getting a brand name coach--expect some young upstart who just started shaving every day. Tepper needs to make some public proclamations to assure season ticket holders and perspective employees that he has learned his lesson.

I like Vrabel--

I was at a camp practice in Spartanburg and I heard Fox talking to Turgevac (sp) on the field. Clausen overthrew a receiver on a 15 yard dig and right behind him, Armanti Edwards dropped a punt lodged from a jugs gun. Fox made some comment that was highly critical--something like "I genuinely can't believe this Sh""t. I laughed, he looked at me and shook his head. I actually had a few very brief exchanges with Fox at OTAs and I really liked him. The Clausen/Armanti/Eric Norwood draft was all Hurney--Fox was a dead man walking that year, if you recall.
-
If you recall, Marty got in trouble when he started trading away first rounders. I think we got Jeff Otah and Everette Brown as a result. Fitterer traded away the first overall pick, a great WR, etc etc for what would become the first overall pick and has NOTHING to show for it. Deserved to be fired--for fighting for this decision or not fighting against it.

This tells me two things: 1) The owner and others in the front office did not respect the GM enough to let him have the final say. 2) The Panthers had a GM who allowed them to disrespect him. He because more of a PR agent, promoting decisions that were made instead of making them.

We seem to have a type.

Rumor: Tepper threw drink in response to JAG fan mocking Haynes injury

Just making it worse--excuses, lies, no heartfelt apologies--just the childish rant of a billionaire narcissist. -

Because if its on Twitter, it has to be accurate. -

The problem is not what the Jag fan said, it was that Tepper was listening to the Jag fans. -
is there a worse destination than Carolina for a GM or HC?
MHS831 replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
I dunno. If I were a GM, I would see this as a challenge. I would ask Tepper, during the interview, if he will continue to be involved in player personnel decisions. If he does not say "no," I walk out and thank him for the coffee. -
who played their last game for the panthers today?

Excellent points. What Bryce could control (attitude, resiliency, toughness) he did well. That is really all I could see this season. He was sacked 12% of his passing attempts. He was rushed or hurried most of the time. I would have benched Young and let Andy take over while Young learned. Yes, experience helps, but when that experience is counterproductive to development, you are only hurting the player. -

The coaches did not believe in the offense. When I see the offense, down by 2 scores in the fourth quarter taking the play clock down to "0", it was infuriating. They played for a chance at a FG most of the time. You are right--why should any DC fear a deep ball? I have heard people on here complaining about Bryce, but what would they recommend? Was this his talent or the play calling and lack of talent surrounding him? 62 sacks on a 5'10" 185 lb QB, and he played on. -

Gross-Matos' light seemed to come on halfway through the season. I think he is a serviceable starter who can move inside. Nice piece to have. It was horribly frustrating watching Bryce play this season, but just about every variable worked against him. Frank R. was familiar with the tall pocket QB approach and the offense suggested that Bryce find a way to function in it. I am most disappointed with OL coach Campen and the lack of development involving Ekwonu. Bozeman regressed here (not many people talking about it, but he gave up 10 sacks--probably because his guards sucked, but a center can't give up sacks. Chark? What the hell was that? TMJ? Done in the NFL. Mingo? Had the opportunity and stage to step up, but did not leave us feeling hopeful for 2024. Theilen? Showed us the benefit of running good, crisp routes. The TE room they bragged about preseason? Keep Tremble and Ricci (who was on IR). This "All Star" coaching staff? Many experienced veterans see gigs like this as a reward for lifetime achievement and fail to put in the hours. Give me some hungry, young coaches who have worked under great coaches. -
A lot of you thought that Tepper would be loyal to Fitterer, hanging on to his yes man. But that is not the pattern of the narcissist, as I explained in threads where I (like some of you) predicted he would be fired today. If Tepper were the captain of the Titanic and had a meeting before it sank with his six highest ranking officers, even though Tepper did not believe there was an iceberg and ordered "Full steam ahead," He would empty his revolver of all six bullets, leaving only himself alive and a private life raft for his retreat. Narcissists are, for the most part, incapable of empathy or guilt. Tepper fits the profile, from what I can see.

Want to know what grinds my gears? They always show a photo of a GM wearing a blazer with no tie and Ray Ban sunglasses. Why is that? Some of you will say, "He missed the point of this thread." "Did I though?" "Yes. I seem to have strayed."

I think Breeg is a troll--just block him and move on. Damn you McDonalds for giving out free internet!! -
Repeat yourself. You sound just as dumb. Anyone can cherry pick stats. I sense that I am engaged with a middle schooler who just got his first computer for Christmas. Please do not respond because you think your opinions are right and people with much more experience and knowledge than you are wrong. You obviously feel the need to be right at all costs and ignore other points of view. I don't have time for dickheads-I simply want to see what others have to say. I have heard you--now just shut up.
-
This is the key. WIthout endzone game tape, it is really hard to see if the majority of the blame goes to QB, OL, or WR. I think the answer is "all of them" but I would like to know to what degree? If the WRs and OL are sucking, the QB play inevitably sucks. If the QB and OL play sucks, the WRs will suck---Lotta work to do, imo, because I had no confidence in Bryce because he had the ball--but if the focus was on the others, would a different concern be exposed? I think so--just like to know how much etc.

Arrogant and misleading. Dangerous combination. I really think your ability to muster courage behind a fake name on a discussion board has overwhelmed your circuitry. Regardless, I do not pretend to be smarter than others by referring to anyone who disagrees with me as having a thick skull. The fact is, you are being intentionally misleading--sacks are a QB stat but not one they often use to evaluate QBs--completion percentage, interception rate, YPA, etc are usually the standard--Sacks, however, are a key OL measure, and you seem to disregard that obvious point because it is not consistent with your theory--something you choose to ignore so you can pout and rant and make people think you know what you are talking about. I gave you facts and stats--offensive line statistics related to sacks---and you give me an answer that ignores these facts and stats and you repeat yourself. Silly person. The worst left side of the OL (T, G, C) in the NFL. based on SACKS and you say they were not bad. Not arguing with someone who skips over facts and statistics. If you want to challenge my points, find some Offensive linemen stats that do not include sacks allowed. Post the link here. If you can't, STFU.

You may be right, but I worked for a narcissist recently, and eventually, they all turn on those closest to them because their primary role is to inflate the leader's ego and then be blamed for the failures that are caused by the fact that nobody is telling the Emporer that he is wrong--so they must be wrong--it is a catch 22.. Black Monday will be a demonstration of Tepper's ire--we did not score a point in 2 games. "Off with their heads!" Fitterer and the entire offensive staff will be let go.
