Washington became the draft's bitch. Picking at 19, they wanted a QB and let it be known they would trade up. Rivera, used to a Cam Newton-style QB, watched Fields pass us AND Denver. Instead, Marty sits there and watches Fields go to the Bears (20 to 11). Were they afraid to trade with rivals Dallas and Philly, picking right after the Broncos? Could they have offered Dallas their first 2 picks and a first in 2022 to move up 9 spots? Instead, Hurney did not see the Bears with Dalton moving up. He did not see NE moving up (for some reason) so he sat there, watching the Bears eat his lunch. So now he has a roster with a 38-year old journeyman at QB and 2 undrafted castoffs from Carolina running the show. Thank God he is gone. However, in an interview for the Washington Post, Rivera seemed to talk as if he was picking the team. Folks--Rivera is not that smart. So they drafted what he knows--a LB. He will be fired this year.

It would rival the Steelers draft class around 1970. Pair it with last year's class, and that is how dynasties are formed. Not only did we draft a coach who will get the younger players ready, we have a GM who knows the market and we have a capologist who is gooder at Math than I am English.

I see 4-5 locks, not sure about David Moore. I see Shi Smith on this roster. Gonna get crazy for a second--give this to me for now: Anderson (with the addition of Marshall and Smith and Moore) may be more vulnerable than you think IF the cap becomes an issue--maybe a trade for that second rounder in 2022. Unlikely, but we could clear 8 million, get a 2022 pick, and he is in the last year of a contract. Let me say this again for all the Cyber Rambos out there---when you have a boatload of players at any position, you have trade value if you need it. Anderson makes a lot of sense SHOULD THE NEED ARISE.

CMC, Chuba, and Bonnefon can all catch passes. (Bonnefon can also play QB, as Stevens can as well. Would it be interesting to see us carry 2 QBs, Stevens as the #3 TE, and Bonnefon as the #3 RB?)

He is now 35 years old. In 2021, 13 years later, Thomas Fletcher ran a 4.92 at his pro day. He is now 22 years old. By the way, he benched 225 13 times, which is pretty impressive for a LS. So what does it all mean? Not much, but if you timed JJ Jansen now, he would likely be around 5.1 or so, making Thomas a better gunner in terns of speed. If they ran in the 5.3-5.4 range, it might be problematic, but anything in the 4.xx is probably good.

I think (theory here--no evidence) that we were dropping to get him. I think we wanted Horn from his pro day and we spotted Shi Smith there-so we were going to target Shi as our slot WR. So they dropped a bit, and the T situation did not change much. They dropped again, and Marshall was still there--they had to take him. But then a few Tackles like Jalen Mayfield was taken at 68, and they knew a team in front of them (Denver) was in the market. We moved up 3 spots to leapfrog Denver and Detroit (and we knew Detroit had Sewell). Ironically, the next tackle chosen was 23 picks later at the 30th pick of the 3rd round (Spencer Brown, a RT) --, and then only projects Hudson and Smith went in the 4th. It just seemed to me that they move up was insurance to keep Denver off Christensen, even though they needed only a RT. I think if Mayfield had been on the board, Fitterer knew he would be chosen over Christensen by the Broncos, but they did not want to take chances after seeing Christensen's pro day and after seeing Mayfield go off the board at 68. I think the fact that Marshall dropped so far hindered our LT selection and caused the trade up. Marshall was an early second rounder and to see a need sitting there at nearly an entire round later was too much to ask.
