His entry level contract was signed on July 7, 2021. So, yeah, there's a huge consideration depending on whether the games he played prior to his entry level contract was signed, just as you mentioned. And, if the World Cup games are included, he's played 75 games if you count Vaxjo, WC, Chicago and Carolina.

If the NHL is going to continue to schedule games for teams that are short-handed, they need to make some concessions with regard to minor league call-ups, like not counting their games against the exemption rule, for example. Or, they need to allow teams to call up enough players to fill out a game-day roster without any salary cap or minor league reassignment ramifications. The league did really well last season with COVID, but they're falling on their faces this year. All that said, the next time Drury is called up will be his last call up- he'll be here for good. The Canes will have to find a way to fit him in without losing key pieces to the roster.

Drury tallied 30 points (10g, 20a) in 41 games with Vaxjo Lakers of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) during his first professional season in 2020-21, earning selection as a finalist for the league's Rookie of the Year and helping Vaxjo capture the Le Mat Trophy as SHL champions. Prior to turning professional, Drury played two seasons of college hockey at Harvard from 2018-20, posting 63 points (29g, 34a) in 60 games. He also earned 77 points (28g, 49a) in 100 USHL games with Waterloo from 2016-18, serving as captain in his second season with the Black Hawks. The New York, N.Y., native has represented the United States at numerous international tournaments, winning a silver medal at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship and a bronze medal at the 2021 IIHF World Championship. Due to COVID-19 Protocols and salary cap constraints, the team is only able to dress 16 skaters and two goaltenders this evening, two skaters short of a normal NHL lineup. Currently the following skaters are out due to measures caused by the virus (alphabetical, last): Sebastian Aho, Ian Cole, Seth Jarvis, Steven Lorentz, Jordan Staal, Andrei Svechnikov. This morning the team was able to recall Jack Drury from Chicago to take the roster spot vacated by Jalen Chatfield moving to injured reserve on Tuesday. In addition to Drury, the team was granted two emergency exemptions by the NHL to reach the 16, selecting Stefan Noesen and Andrew Poturalski. Lastly, Brett Pesce and Tony DeAngelo are set to return for the first time in 17 days. The two were removed from protocol last Thursday, however, could not join the team in Canada and then Tuesday's game was postponed. The team's projected lineup for this evening against the Red Wings is as follows: Forwards: Niederreiter - Trocheck - Necas Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Fast Drury - Stepan - Noesen - Poturalski Defensemen: Slavin - DeAngelo Skjei - Pesce Smith - Bear Starting Goalie: Andersen

I'd still like to know how the league is deciding what/when/how teams can postpone games. A couple games have been postponed and the teams have fewer guys in protocol than the Canes. Are the teams opting out of the games or is the league dictating this, because it sure looks pretty haphazard at this point.

Aho, KK, Necas, and a "to be named later" next season. We could be pleasantly surprised about Trocheck. Since the article appeared about him being a UFA and how his production has lagged from last season, he's really come on lately. I like Necas on the wing, although he has and can play center; but I like his speed on the wing. Lorentz is the guy I'd like to see in the middle. His confidence continues to grow and I think he can become a big net-front presence.

It looks like they will test before/during the morning skate and again later this afternoon and the game tonight will be dependent on those results, for both teams.

It's going to look like a 5-on-5 penalty kill with a bunch of gassed Canes players protecting their own net. Hell, if I'm the opponent I'd be short-shifting my guys and just run rampant up and down the ice all night.

That's utter and complete bullsh!t. The increased possibility of injury due to having guys on the ice twice as much as they normally would be is fugging ridiculous. I can't believe the NHLPA is allowing the NHL to go forward with this, especially given how early in the season this is and how easy it would be to modify schedules to accommodate everyone.
