  1. Someone let me know when we all wake up and the virus will have "disappeared, just like a miracle," as the president has promised. Remember, “People are really surprised I understand this stuff,” he said. “Every one of these doctors said: ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability.”
  2. Because my wife has been in private country club management for almost 30 years now, I can safely say what the president of the club said about "over half of the employees decided to walk out" comment was a dick move and totally uncalled for. You just made life miserable for the general manager, whom those employees work for. The president is probably a 2-year term president of the board of governors. The privileged country club types wanted their restaurants opened weeks ago, were bitching about not being able to use the pool and were complaining about all the inconveniences. I know this as I got to read a lot of emails from members. Because private country clubs are often 501(c)7 operations, they weren't afforded to eligibility of payroll protection and my wife was forced to lay off about 35 people, which was extremely difficult on her as well as the employees. Now that some of the operation is slowly opening, some of those employees don't want to come back to work now that they're collecting unemployment +$600 extra a week. But hey, those privileged country clubs are not somewhere the coronavirus goes, right? Rich white people don't get this, do they?
  3. I can listen to Knopfler play guitar for hours.
  4. We're in a recession- not of Powell's doing. We're in a pandemic- not of Powell's doing. The DOL unemployment rate is 13.5% and true unemployment is at 21%- not of Powell's doing. People are selling off stocks to create disposable income because they're not working- not of Powell's doing. He did nothing and you're blaming him for tanking the markets? You're just not very bright.
  5. It was well publicized rates weren't going to move days before he spoke. Markets plunged because it was announced we're officially in a recession and if you were expecting to see a rate hike immediately following a statement that we're in a recession, you're just not paying attention. The coronavirus second wave is also causing economic worries as states who thumbed their collective noses at COVID-19 and "opened for business" earlier than most and against the advice of trained professional medical folks are now experiencing some big numbers (Texas, Florida, Arizona). Oh, and Powell was nominated by Trump and confirmed by a GOP Senate. So if you want him gone, then we'll just add him to the list of "only the best people" turning out not to be the best and getting fired by Trump.
  6. I finally got this one in the mail Monday
  7. I've had Sirius XM since around 2002 (pre-merger) in both my cars. Now available online and on smart tvs included with subscription. All of that runs me about $36 a month.
  8. I found this a few weeks back- Album cover is a little worn, but it is 50+ years old. But the record is as good as you could expect- not the first scratch or skip in the vinyl. I paid $17.
  9. Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine can kill. When chloroquine is used as an anti-malaria, it is given in relatively small doses over a period of time prior to someone being exposed to a possible malaria included environment such as Southeast Asia or the African continent. If I remember correctly, we were administered doses 6 weeks ahead of our scheduled arrival in Southeast Asia. As little as a single gram of chloroquine can be fatal. Not sure about hydroxychloroquine, but I'm sure it's also potentially deadly.
  10. Not to mention his "pray away the gay" legislations. I'm waiting for this to be the next end-all cure the White House announces.
  11. Using that logic, the White House should be demolished tomorrow.
  12. Went to my friend's record store Saturday and walked away with a haul. Got new 180g reissues of Who's Next, The River, Hotel California, Morrison Hotel, and The Ramones.
  13. Found this in my local record store the other day- It's a compilation of Johnny Winter stuff recorded between 1961 - 1964. Record is in great shape, sounds good.
  14. My lab-pit mix partially tore his CCL over a year ago and one of the best vet ortho surgeons in eastern NC wanted us to wait because he is so muscular that she didn't want to do surgery unless she was absolutely certain it was completely ruptured or torn. A year later, and while he never displayed any outward signs of pain, he was nearly lame on his left rear leg when we took him back and had the surgery. The important thing here is the dog will never tell you he's in pain. They will simply compensate and try to carry on. We knew he was in need of the surgery when he would just stop and either sit or lay down in the middle of our trail walks. But, I'm here to tell you, the surgery is no joke. I don't care that it cost me about $3700, but keeping him caged for the first 4 weeks after surgery, having to sling-carry him down the steps to the backyard a few times a day, coming home in the middle of the day and having him wake me up between 2-4 AM every night crying to go out. All the pain meds, antibiotics and sedatives are diuretics and he could pee for a minute. The hard part while he was on the meds was his personality was gone; he wouldn't wag his tail, didn't talk to us like he normally does and was in sad shape. He's just started week 9 of his 12 week recovery schedule, had his 8-week x-rays last week and the vet says his bone is healing great. He walks like he never had surgery and he's actually going a couple miles 2-3 times a week (on a leash). He finished all of his meds around week 4-5 and his personality came back and he's almost back to his usual self. There are 2 different surgeries for canine CCL and the vet we used will only do the TPLO surgery and not the tightrope. TPLO requires the bone to be cut and a metal plates is used to permanently stabilize the joint so there is no lateral movement. TPLO: Tightrope: Anyway, I've been through all of this over the past year- if there's anything I can help with, let me know.
  15. My youngest (4) hangin' on the couch. Quite the life...
  16. It may very well be, but it's not some random decision by a minimum-waged retail stocker to put certain items into those security containers. Inventory, cycle counts and turns (how much of the stuff goes missing without being paid for) is how that's decided.
  17. The "invasion" has begun!!! It's from Guatemala!!!
  18. Only record these guys did... and it's really fugging good...
  19. And with that, I'm off to Mexico for a few days...... hasta la vista!
