  1. Yes,sir. John Fogerty and his ego got in the way of what would have become a wildly successful career.
  2. Imagine if the business world was run by a bunch of retreaded CEOs who simply bounced from one company to another after repeated 30 or 40% success rates? Only in professional sports do we see guys continue to get jobs with organizations after failing in one or more attempts in other organizations.
  3. Not completely true. His previous stint as a head coach in Arizona went very well, going 3-13. It's a process.
  4. Svech just came on the ice with the line change while Staal's line was again keeping Chicago in their end. Reality- Staal's line is responsible for all 3 goals so far.
  5. Checking in. Staal line is the boss. Driving the train.
  6. One of several possibly injury-causing hits not called by the refs last night.
  7. Jordan got one back. Martinook playing really well this season. He's bought into his role on the Staal line and makes that line dangerous on both ends.
  8. Avs thugging it up. Canes can't win if penalties aren't being called consistently. Colorado isn't that good. Canes outplayed them in the 1st.
  9. Another bad call. Svech hit him from the side, not a penalty by definition.
  10. No call on the cross check on Staal, and Aho gets called for a phantom slash. See how this game is going to be called.
  11. Max has been on the ice practicing. Although he has been relatively invisible, he plays well with others.
  12. I gotta join you for one of those. I'll bring the tequila. Oh, where do you live.
  13. You're right, I've been thinking this is Sunday all day. See what retirement does? I don't keep track of days any more.
  14. Maybe because they have a back-to-back and play the Blues on Monday. But it doesn't make sense to sit the better goalie against the better team.
  15. Last Time Out: After being held to just one goal in their previous two games, losses to Toronto and Florida, the Canes found their offense Thursday night against Edmonton. Andrei Svechnikov recorded his second hat trick in as many games against the Oilers this season, picking up his 100th career goal on the way. #37's trio was supplemented by goals from all three members of the Jordan Martinook, Jordan Staal and Jesper Fast line, providing Carolina with more than enough offense to earn the victory. The effort was backstopped by Pyotr Kochetkov in his 2022-23 season debut, making 20 stops, including a first period penalty shot against Dylan Holloway. Super Svech: After starting the season with eight goals in nine games, Andrei Svechnikov had been held out of the goal department for three consecutive games prior to Thursday. He broke out of that minor drought in a major way, becoming just the fifth different player in franchise history to record multiple hat tricks in the same season. His 11 goals now rank third league-wide, trailing only Bo Horvat (12) and Connor McDavid (15). Numbers For Necas: Martin Necas registered two assists in the win over Edmonton, his sixth multi-point game and fourth multi-assist game in 2022-23, both of which are team highs. His six multi-point outings rank tied for sixth in the NHL this season, trailing only Connor McDavid (EDM, 9), Leon Draisaitl (EDM, 7), Erik Karlsson (SJS, 7), Nathan MacKinnon (COL, 7) and David Pastrnak (BOS, 7). Don't Overlook The Man Advantage: Brent Burns' power play goal on Thursday gave the Hurricanes a tally on the man advantage in five of their last six games. Injury Report: Forward Ondrej Kase has been in concussion protocol since October 13. Goaltender Frederik Andersen was placed on injured reserve Friday, retroactive to November 6. Forward Teuvo Teravainen is not expected to play tonight after suffering an upper-body injury in Thursday's victory. ------------------------------------------------ For the Avs, Francouz (0-3-0) was announced as the netminder for tonight. The Avs are favored, being the current champs as well as being a home game, regardless of their record.
  16. That save he made on the breakaway... he went way out of the crease and went stick on puck while sprawling was gutsy as hell. Not sure we'll ever see that from a young goalie ever again. On any team. That took gigantic balls.
  17. The Canes have a propensity for reacting to a substandard stretch just like they did last night. A couple bad games, a couple games without getting pucks in the net followed by a blowout with goals coming in bunches. Happened 3 or 4 times last year. Just wish they could do the same in the playoffs.
  18. I haven't watched a Panther game for quite some time. Might actually tune that one in shortly. Waiting for someone else to score? Burns, Martinook, Staal- the vets show some leadership.
  19. The Canes have more points on the board than the Panthers right now.
  20. I would be surprised to see Burns change anything about his style of play. Not gonna happen with a vet who's been around as long as he has. That being said, the best D pair on the roster right now is Skjei and Pesce. Pyotr is expected to start the Oilers game tonite. RBA needs to make some line changes as well. Major line changes. The only line playing with any consistency is the Staal line, even Martinook is playing with a fire under him.
