  1. Panthers projected lineup Teuvo Teravainen -- Sebastian Aho -- Seth Jarvis Andrei Svechnikov -- Jesperi Kotkaniemi -- Martin Necas Jordan Martinook -- Jordan Staal -- Jesper Fast Stefan Noesen -- Paul Stastny -- Derek Stepan Jaccob Slavin -- Brent Burns Brady Skjei -- Brett Pesce Dylan Coghlan -- Jalen Chatfield Antti Raanta
  2. Get Pucks On (And Through): In addition to their penalty kill, one area that the Islanders really excelled in Friday was blocking shots. They were credited with 28 over the course of 60 minutes. Tonight the Canes will be tasked with finding more lanes, specifically from the blue line, if they want to have success. 1100 & Some History For Staal: Carolina Captain Jordan Staal will play in his 1100th NHL game tonight. He is set to become just the third member of the 2006 draft class to reach the milestone, joining Phil Kessel and Milan Lucic. This evening will also be the 669th game of Staal's career with the Canes, passing Cam Ward for the fourth-most since the franchise relocated to Raleigh. Shooting Star: Despite being held off the scoresheet in Friday night's defeat, Andrei Svechnikov's seven goals this season remain tied for second league-wide. Only Connor McDavid (8) has more. Strong In The Dot: Paul Stastny started the season playing on the left wing of Staal and Jesper Fast. He's since moved to centering a line that also features Derek Stepan and Stefan Noesen. Since being back in the middle he's won 70.8% of his faceoffs, tops among all NHL centers that have taken at least 20 draws. Give Me That: Defenseman Jaccob Slavin has 13 takeaways through seven games this year, tied for second in the NHL. Since the start of the 2015-16 season, his rookie year, no defenseman in the league has more (492). Injury Report: Defenseman Calvin de Haan (day-to-day) has not played in either of the team's last two games. Forward Ondrej Kase remains out of the lineup and in concussion protocol since October 13. On The Other Side: Under the guidance of new Head Coach John Torterella, Tony DeAngelo and the Philadelphia Flyers have had a hot start to their season. They've allowed just 17 goals in seven games and starting netminder Carter Hart has registered a save percentage of .947 in his five starts. Forward Kevin Hayes leads the group with 10 points in seven contests. Defenseman Ivan Provorov ranks third in the NHL with his 29 blocked shots.
  3. Would love to have a cat, but the wife is allergic and our 2 dogs would have a difficult adjustment. Beautiful markings on yours.
  4. Congrats on your new adventure! I'll give this a watch today, as the lawyer in me loves this kind of stuff.
  5. We went to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony last October in Cleveland- had an absolute blast for 3 days. The ticket price for us common folks is $500 a head. Although not the most I've ever paid for tickets- there is a limit. Throw in the flight, hotel & meals.... sheesh..... Oh, and another bucket list event is the Army-Navy Game. That could be costly, too. Those resale prices are crazy, too.
  6. I'm a little worried about this mess, to be honest: Tomorrow night against an Islander team who shut out the Rangers last night- big win for them. The get on a plane for a 24-hour turn-around on the road in Philly. The another back-to-back on Thursday-Friday, starting in Tampa and coming home Friday for the Sabres. This is a tough 6-game stretch.
  7. With prices starting in excess of $200.......
  8. Yikes- the better part of 2 weeks now....
  9. Kase stayed behind in Raleigh and the team didn't fly home until yesterday, so I wouldn't think there would be an update before the team got back. Nonetheless, it's always good when a player tossed into a trade deal as an afterthought turns into real contributor, and I thought Kase might be that guy.
  10. Should not have been that difficult, but a win nonetheless. And A 7-point road trip.
  11. Canucks are beating on Jarvis tonite. Like he's got a target on him.
  12. This is not good hockey. Slavin is working his butt off to cover for Burns defensive lapses.
  13. Vancouver knows they have to muck it up to stay in the game.
  14. The call was "incidental contact." Reviwed and they changed the call to "goalie interference." Two different calls.
  15. Svech will get 50 if he stays on this line.
  16. To be fair, DeHaan and Chatfield are getting the ice time and making 30% of Bear's $2.2M salary. And when Coghlan comes back, that'll be 3 blue-liners making a fraction of Bear's salary and getting all the ice time. So I can't say I blame him, but I do have to question what Waddell was thinking when all of this went down and they gave him that contract. On the other hand, waiting for another team to lose a 2nd or 3rd line D-man and they come calling for Bear is wishful thinking.
  17. Last Time Out: The Canes got off to a good start Saturday night in Calgary, establishing an early 2-0 lead. Sebastian Aho picked up his seventh point in three games with a goal just 1:44 in and Calvin de Haan contributed his first of the season to follow, but then things turned sour for the club. Calgary got a power play goal before the end of the first and completely took over the game in the second. They'd tie the contest and after Carolina could not convert on four minutes of power play time on their own inside the final seven minutes, the game needed overtime. In the bonus frame Tyler Toffoli beat Antti Raanta to seal the deal for the Flames. Winning The Special Teams Battle: Thursday night Rod Brind'Amour and players cited special teams as the difference in the team's 6-4 defeat to the Oilers, as they gave up two on the power play and another shorthanded. Saturday the Flames went 1/4 on the man advantage, but the issue was more about what was not done as opposed to what was. Carolina went 0/4 on their opportunities, 6:00 of which came inside the final 11:36 of the third period in a tied game. To add another level of frustration, they produced just three shots in their eight minutes of work. Vancouver enters tonight dead last in the penalty kill, perhaps providing an opportunity for the Canes' man advantage to appropriately get back on the board. So, They Are Human: After exceptional starts to the season for both Andrei Svechnikov and Martin Necas, both were held pointless on Saturday in Calgary. Svechnikov totaled eight points through the first four games of the campaign, six of them coming as goals. The six trail only Steven Stamkos of Tampa Bay for the most league-wide. For Necas, he's now got seven points in five games, a tremendous start to his bounce back year.
  18. There is no need for a tank. I keep having to say this- the Panthers are still a very bad football team, regardless what happened today. JFC, they won a game and all of a sudden the bandwagon is once again taking riders.
  19. Wish him nothing but the best. He's a genuinely good guy and a humble, appreciative person.
  20. I mentioned last week I'd be very happy with a 7 or 8 point trip. And I would expect a win tomorrow night. By the way, who made the comment about not playing Raanta because this isn't a 1A-1B goalie tandem and Andersen should be the guy? Honest question, I don't remember. I was surprised Raanta got the call, thought they'd give him the start over Vancouver.
  21. Doesn't he need to play to earn all the accolades you just put on him? Guy has played 16 games in the last 3 seasons. So, yeah, he's the best player on the field for 30% of the season, which accounts for maybe 5 wins.
  22. Out of town this weekend and missed the game. Was hoping to wake up with a victorious score on my phone... From what I've read, I might have spent a lot of the game upset. PP issues and road officiating... I did see Kadri's dive this morning, but hey, he's league star. Too bad our best guys don't get those calls. 3-1-1 with 5 points on this trip.
  23. Just coincidence that Smitty said on his podcast the other day that he advised a couple players (who called him) to request a trade.
  24. He's slated to play on a line that really needs his help. Let's hope that doesn't accelerate his recovery. We have time.
