  1. Per Walt Ruff, the MRI on Max's injury has been delayed until Monday to allow things to settle a bit. The Canes skated this morning, obviously without Max, and Jacob Slavin was also absent. Should be noted that Slavin did not play the last few minutes of last night's game. Hopefully, just some rest for him as much ice time as he gets. 20230119_214248.mp4 20230119_214248.mp4 20230119_214248.mp4 20230119_214248.mp4
  2. After joining up with Stephen Stills and forming CSN, their first live performance together was Woodstock. How's that for breaking onto the music scene. You guys all know how old I am- growing up and spending the first 38 years of my life there, this music was everything to me. Losing him and Jeff Beck in the last couple weeks only serves to remind us of our mortality. I'll be spinning a bunch of my vinyl today.
  3. Where were you sitting tonite? The couple next to us got the fan tunnel tonite also. 1st intermission.
  4. Stastny has played much better with the 2nd line than he did with the 4th. And I think KK is getting more looks to shoot on the 4th. In my opinion, a good move, although for what KK's salary is, playing the 4th line is a little steep. I like KK, but he's not a $4.8M center.
  5. The lines: Forwards: Pacioretty - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - Stastny - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Noesen Defense: Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce de Haan - Chatfield Starting Goalie: Andersen
  6. Not my cup of tea, but Gatlinburg? Also heard the Great Wolf Lodge or something near Charlotte was good for kids. Ocean City, Maryland? Haven't.been there in 30 years... smaller scale Myrtle?
  7. Can't you negotiate orders with your detailer? When I was in we called our rating (MOS) detailer to see what he had available and we could make a choice or take a chance & wait a few weeks. This started about 6 months before your rotation date. I don't think I ever got sent anywhere I didn't want to go. That is, until I hit my 19 year mark and they told me I had to go to DC. I kept asking them for another ship, but they were clear that wasn't an option. So I decided to retire on 20.
  8. We're in 216 tonight. Will be wearing all superstitious winning gear. And we'll be there early enough to tailgate for a bit. Need Max & Jordo back tonight, otherwise I think we're in for a long night.
  9. So, a couple moving parts here. North Carolina: First of all, a certified mold inspector will come out and inspect and take samples of anything suspicious he/she finds. Those samples are sent to a lab. I used CEI/Eurofins in Cary. They will provide a detailed analysis of each sample, telling you of the concentration as well as whether or not it's active or dead. Then, and only then, upon the decision of the homeowner, does a remediation contractor come into play. Keep in mind, the inspectors, the lab and the remediation companies all have state licenses, which are easily verified through both your local county health department and the state Department of Insurance.
  10. Keep in mind he's a $7M UFA rental. Although he's a strong veteran presence, a very good team player and a stand-up guy, the reality is the Canes could have moved for a couple good UFA forwards at the same price they paid for 1. I'm not worried about the team going forward- they'll win games and get into the playoffs. But iffy goal-tending and a bottom dwelling PP will send them home after the first round.
  11. I have 2 concerns at this point in the season- the first being Andersen's health and can we keep 2 healthy goalies playing at a higher level than what we've seen thus far. Although Andersen has looked good in his first 2 games back, why do I think it's only a matter of time before he goes down again. My second concern is the PP. Absolutely atrocious. No need to say anything more there.
  12. NC State found an audio recording of the Rocky Mount speech in 2013 https://news.ncsu.edu/2015/08/mlk-audio/ https://www.npr.org/2015/08/17/432542027/early-recording-found-of-kings-i-have-a-dream-speech
  13. And here's you stalking me again. You're looking creepier every time you check up on me.
  14. Did you know that MLK also rehearsed and delivered the precursor to the "I Have a Dream" speech in Rocky Mount, NC in November 1962. Here is an exerpt from that speech: On November 27, 1962, Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered a speech in Rocky Mount. Before a crowd of nearly 2,000 in the gymnasium at Booker T. Washington High School, King used a number of expressions that made their way into his landmark “I Have a Dream” address at the Lincoln Memorial, which was part of the March on Washington in August 1963. Near the close he built toward these lines: “I have a dream that one day right here in Rocky Mount, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will meet at the table of brotherhood, knowing that one God brought man to the face of the Earth. I have a dream tonight that one day my little daughter and my two sons will grow up in a world not conscious of the color of their skin, but only conscious of the fact that they are members of the human race. . . .” Clayborne Carson, editor of the King Papers, notes that while this was not the first use of the “I have a dream” phrase, it “appears to be an important new rhetorical formulation.” By the spring and summer of 1963 the words were among the most frequent of King’s refrains.
  15. As much as I no longer care about the Panthers, a Sean Payton hire would bring me back to this specific forum on a daily basis just to trash the organization. There must be at least a dozen or so retread, old school head coaches out there job hunting right now. Lovie Smith anyone? Fug, if you're gonna talk about Payton, why not go ask Bill Cowher while you're at it.
  16. I mentioned this in the game thread, but hasn't Kochetkov lost his last 5 starts? Nevermind, I looked it up. He's lost his last 4 starts- 3 in regulation, and last night's SOL. He'll be needed much more next season than this, unless there's another injury along the way. But look, the Canes have to protect him as he'll be exposed to waiver claims if there's another significant injury and he needs to come back again this season. He only has 16 remaining games of the 38 that will lose his reassignment/waiver protection. Best try to get things worked out in Chicago and get him in net as much as possible while he's there. Not sure what shook him up, but he's gotta re-engage, just like Maverick after Goose died.....
  17. That was on the broadcast when the shootout ended. He smashed his stick into the net post and left it on the ice as he skated off. Has he lost his last 5 games? I was thinking that last night, but not sure. Nonetheless, he should go back to Chicago and get some more work in. He'll be needed next season more than this season, so best to get things worked out now.
  18. Pyotr "Not Ready for Prime Time" Kochetkov needs to be on the first flight back to Chicago and get Drury back here ASAP.
  19. That was ass of a loss. Just a bad game against a bad team.
  20. Get the Bally Sports app and it'll verify your TV provider with log in and you can watch live. Pretty good stream quality.
  21. Have you tried the Bally Sports app? That's how I watch remotely.
  22. Unfortunately, I have a commitment tonight and, unless I can sneak-watch it on my phone, I'll miss it. You guys make some noise and I'll be waiting for a win.
  23. Chatfield and Slavin also played Crosby pretty hard last night. The Canes "Blue Line Crew" has to be one of the best and deepest in the league right now. The fact RBA has no problem sending Chatfield out there to play point on the PP says a lot. I, for one, am glad #5 is getting the recognition he deserves. He's playing better every game and works his tail off. His speed has always been underrated and that move he made last night going to the middle and taking that pass from Aho to score was stuff you'd expect from a forward.
  24. All in their brand new Christmas present sweaters.
