  1. So, watching the game back, when KK took the penalty with 2+ minutes left, RBA gave Jarvis some PK time on ice. He scored his shorty hat trick on his 2nd shift of the PK.
  2. I was at the game and I don't remember how he came to get on the ice. He's not normally on the PK, but I think his breakaway came from him coming off the bench. I'll have to watch the game back later today and figure than one out. Looking at the stats, Jarvis had a little over a minute of short-handed ice time, so he must have been on the PK for that last kill. Maybe RBA thought he could get a short-handed chance. Aho had at least one and Martinook had a shortie chance, too, so maybe RBA thought there could be another opportunity.
  3. Nobody else is on the team is willing to get in the muck like Svech, so I have no problem with him hitting someone now and then. The Canes have guys like Staal, Burns, Martinook (who I thought was going to drop the gloves more than once last night, but didn't) who can hold their own when it comes time to throw down, but, for the most part they're all pretty reluctant to do so (because they're all critical to the PK). If Svech is the guy who needs to retaliate or send a message once in a while, so be it. And 2 guys on the Canes team had 3 points last night- Jarvy and Svech.
  4. This is what the Sharks want: 1. 1st round pick. 2. Prospect D-man: LaJoie 3. Veteran winger: KK or Stepan. There are no other vet wingers Carolina is willing to give up unless they decide to part ways with TT or Stastny. The vet winger is going to be the toughest pill to swallow, because I don't think RBA wants to move any of the forwards he has now.
  5. Tripp did a great job. And give cred to the Habs for being a part of it. Nice touch.
  6. To be fair, both KK and Svech worked hard the whole game. You saw that 37 and TT swapped lines tonite, right? KK was everywhere tonight and Svech was playing as physical as he was getting. I don't fault 37 tonite at all.
  7. Had a row and a half of Habs fans behind us. They weren't too bad, but they all left after the 2nd with the score tied at 2. WTF? Oh well, I could sit on the back of my seat and had all kinds of room to roam!
  8. Getting in early to see Cam's number raised to the rafters in PNC. Should happen just before the national anthem. The Habs have scored 18 goals in their last 4 games, winning 3 of those 4. So I'm not counting this as an easy win by any stretch.
  9. Alex Ovechkin's father passed away at age 71. https://www.nhl.com/news/mikhail-ovechkin-dies-dad-of-capitals-alex-ovechkin/c-341084472
  10. Or, from Carr's perspective: Going to Carolina defeats the purpose of me wanting a change. The team has been in the midst of an identity crisis for a few years, has bounced thru QBs like nobody else and now has a new coaching staff that will take 1, maybe 2 seasons to get it right in Charlotte. I'm 31 years old and I have 5-6 productive years left in me. Not sure I can afford to wait for the coaching staff to build a team, a culture and an identity around me.
  11. I'd give a 1st, LaJoie and KK. LaJoie has NHL ice time and a resume; KK is signed forever at nearly $4.82M and 12 of San Jose's 14 forwards are FAs over the next 2 seasons. The Sharks are very top heavy when it comes to salary. Karlsson (D), Couture (C) and Hertl (C) count for well more than 25% of their cap. I like KK and I know why the Canes got him, but in Raleigh, he's overpaid for what averages out to a 25-30 point per year guy. He had 29 points last season and is at 21 this year, so he'll probably get to 30. I love the kid and I think he'll be a stud for a long time, but I don't expect him to set the league on fire every year. He'll probably be a very solid 30-40 points a season guy in a couple years. No way does Jarvis's name come up in the trade conversation.
  12. Caps go empty net at 3 min, then it's game on.
  13. Hathaway got away with a sucker punch on Jarvis. How does that not get called?
  14. Think RBA knew he could get the call just seeing the way he was talking to the ref.
  15. With both Anderson and Raanta being UFAs after the season, I don't know that I wouldn't offer one of them up and bring up Kochetkov. Plenty of goalies injured right now.
  16. "On Feb. 10, TSN's Chris Johnston reported the Sharks are seeking "three pieces", one of which could be a first-round draft pick. He thinks the secondary pieces must be better than the third-round pick, a prospect defenseman and a veteran winger (Sammy Blais) that the Blues received as part of the return from the Rangers for Tarasenko." 1. First 2. "Better than a third round" and/or 3. Prospect defenseman and/or (Seeley, Hayes, LaJoie) 4. Veteran winger (Stepan, KK) I'd give a 1st, 2nd and one of the 3 Chicago D-men listed above.
  17. That's pretty steep for Timo: first, prospect, Drury and Jarvis/KK? No. First (maybe), prospect and another player not named Drury. Jarvis and KK are both RBA guys and play the way he did.
  18. Again, the Caps are without Ovechkin, Carlson, Dowd and Wilson.
  19. Caps message boards say he does this every season when he goes into a scoring drought. Timing sucks because he likely won't be back before Sunday and the Caps could easily drop out of the last wildcard spot before Sunday's stadium game. And you know the league and TV networks are sh!tting bricks right now if the Caps go on primetime without Carlson, Ovechkin, Wilson and Dowdy.
  20. Ovechkin has left the team for family reasons and he may not be back for the stadium game. There are no flights between the United States and Moscow, so he'll be flying a lot: https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2574528/ovechkin-takes-leave-from-capitals-due-to-family-matter The Caps are still without 1st pair D-man John Carlson and 1st line winger Tom Wilson is still out as well.
