Seth Jarvis bobblehead night! I'll be at the game tonight.... and in the last 3 seasons, the Canes have only lost twice when we've been there.

I agree with The Great One. It's not an even matchup at that point; the shooter has all the advantage. But, I'm also in the camp that the regular season and playoff overtime rules need to be consistent. Right now, there are no shootouts in the playoffs. Why? Because they are an anti-climactic end to a game. The playoffs are now a 20-minute, 5-on-5, sudden death period. Either make the regular season the same or, at the very least, just extend the 3-on-3, as Gretzky suggests, to eliminate as much of the possibility of a shootout as you can.

I have 2 games left- Tues vs. Ottawa and the 11th, final home game of the season vs. Detroit
-
There are about 4 guys on the Islanders roster I' d like to see in a Canes sweater. Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, Zach Parise, and Cizikas.

Top line taking the night off again? If we had a coach like Tortarello, he would have benched them for a period. Someone needs to step the fug up 3rd period.
-
Slavin took 3 cross checks behind the net with no call. If anyone in the NHL deserved benefit of the doubt, it's 74.
-
No net front, everyone just firing at will from distance. That's like practice for Sorokin.
-
That goal was on Necas, too. He stopped skating and Pageau went to the net unimpeded.
-
That was weak. Junior hockey poo right there.
-
Drury, KK and Jarvis all had some jump last night and played well.
-
Great pass from Noesen to Aho.

Believe it or not, tequila is the only liquor I drink. Never acquired a taste for anything else. I enjoy a good wine now and then and beer just gives my bladder a workout, so I've become a tequila connoisseur of sorts.
-
Forget all the additives, it's tequila kind of day... My last pour of Addictivo Extra Anejo, save for the emergency ounce in the cap

Any time the Rangers lose I am happy, I don't care where they are in the standings. But, it was an OT loss, so they still picked up a point on Carolina. That being said, I think they are fairly inconsequential at this point. However, if they keep losing and the Canes follow suit, they could be a first round matchup.

I'm pretty sure I stated the Canes would lose the division lead after last weekend. I was off by a week. They could lose it after this weekend.
-
Marty Necas screen on Andersen that resulted in the game winning goal was probably the best net front the Canes had all night.

If you take a serious look at some of the "records" the Canes own, and dig deep into their real meaning, this team has a couple issues to address. 1. The blue line leads the league in points. Sounds good, but it it really? Hell, if it wasn't for the blue line last night's game was a shutout loss. And how many times has the defense carried the scoring this year when the forwards disappear? 2. The team has one of the highest shots per game average coupled with one of the lowest goal totals of top 10 teams. Averaging nearly 35 shots on goal per game (4th), but only 239 goals (17th).

Not to mention the Canes are basically stuck with him as both Raanta and Andersen are UFAs in a couple months and there has been no mention of new contracts for either of them.
-
Take care of business and don't rely on or even look at the other teams' schedules. The Wings are no pushover team, they always give the Canes fits. Our remaining games are all winnable and would close the season on a tear. It's not hard to see Carolina winning each of the remaining games on the schedule: Detroit, Montreal, NYI, Ottawa, Nashville, Buffalo, Ottawa, Detroit and Florida. Get to 115 (12 more points) points and the Metro is theirs.
-
You know Martinook is playing well when every time you look, someone on the opposing team is going after him. He was in Kucherov's head less than 10 minutes into the game.
-
Game over. That was lazy, sorry hockey. Give the Canes a chance to put some distance between them and 2nd place and they melt. I'm out.
-
Who's on the PP? Sure looks like TB.
-
And immediately gives up a weak 5 hole under the pad again. Does not bode well when the Canes don't score halfway thru the game.
-
I don't care what anyone thinks- Chatty & Noesen are my top 2 over-achievers this season.
-
And getting away with murder behind the net. At least 3 times Canes went down behind their own net when being tripped or interfered. 1 blatant stick holding non-call on Maroon when he was literally sitting on the ice holding Staal's blade.
