Jeremiah: Panthers "dead set" on drafting an offensive lineman
jayboogieman replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not high on Fitt either, but to be fair, he only admitted to trying to trade for OL after free agency and the draft were long over with. I'm not a fan of the RAS score. I'd rather have a guy that can actually play his position well over one that has a high score. Take Ian Thomas for example. He has a high RAS score, but isn't a good TE. -

You should be used to it by now. That's par for the course. -

12 years as the Panther's center with 148 games played. Only 24 penalties in all that time. 5249 snaps with only two fumbles. Yeah, Kalil should have been a top 15 first rounder. Source for stats. -

Times have changed since Kalil was picked though. Fitts went on record to say no team would trade any O-lineman last season. That means teams are coveting them. People have been saying for years that quality O-linemen are getting harder and harder to find. Linderbaum is being heralded as the best center prospect to come along in years and the best O-line prospect in this draft. Centers usually help make pre snap adjustments and are considered the captain of the O-line. If the team feels Linderbaum can be their center for the next decade, then yeah, you take him at 6 and don't worry about fan complaining, "expert analysis" panning the pick, or anything else. For me, I would take him at 6. I think he can be that guy and that he has the college career to back it up. -

I'm not Mr Scot, but I wouldn't say most were upset about passing on Slater last year. A lot of folks wanted Fields. A lot of the "experts" had Slater as the 1B OT in that draft. He wouldn't have been a reach at all. As for Horn over Slater? I thought it was an ok pick since corner has been a need for quite a while. I also said I would have taken Slater over Horn since tackles impact every offensive snap whereas corners do not impact every defensive one. -
Giannis runs right into Plumlee and Plumlee gets called for the foul. Giannis is getting the Lebron calls.
-
All the Bucks have to do is give it to Giannis. The Hornets will either collapse on him and leave shooters wide open with nobody within six feet of the shooter or they'll foul Giannis and send him to the line.
-
This one feels over already. The Hornets are going to be tired in the second half after playing OT last night.
-
Shooting wide open 3s is also the way to play the Hornets.
-
The Bucks are starting to have their way with the Hornets. The refs being super quick to call fouls on Giannis doesn't help either.

The reach part could mean Linderbaum. Most don't think you should take a center top ten. And if they were to take him at 6, I'd be perfectly fine with it. -
I had started to make another post about someone reading this board once he started actually trying late in the fourth, but decided against it. PJ played much better late in the fourth than he did the rest of the game. He hasn't taken the leap Miles did last season. That said, there is plenty of time for him to step up. And for the record, I would trade OJ this offseason if he's still under contract or let him walk if he's not. Too many other young bigs behind him waiting for playing time on rookie deals.

Yep

Good game, but a terrible way to lose it.

Martin is 6-6 tonight. Bridges has another double double.
-
Ball should have drove towards the basket after the steal.
-
The Hornets need this win. Balance must be retained.
-
PJ Washington is once again proving the +/- is a useless stat. He's +10 and has no blocks, no assists, 2 boards, 2 points, and is doing nothing on defense or offense.
-
Using Martin as the third guard once again.
-
The 3s are falling for everybody and Olynyk is killing the Hornets from behind the line. He's 4 of 5 from deep. The Hornets are playing down to the Pistons' level and the Pistons are playing like their lives are on the line. Guess they really want that losing streak to the Hornets to end.
-
I agree about not having a third string guard and said as much during the game. I guess he would have used Martin as the guard if push came to shove like he did when COVID had hit the team.

If I hated or didn't care about football and was getting paid millions to play it, I'd say I love it too.
-
Yep. Seems Davis wants into the tourney badly and they're playing to their strengths once more.

Wish I had a couple of those tickets to sell. I'd happily take 10K each instead of 17K.
