Here's the breakdown on every 1st down play through the first three quarters Sunday. Run plays went for: 0, -2, 0, 2, 4, 4, -1 and 5 yrds. Pass plays went for: 20, 5, 11, 15, 0 and 13 yards. Canales' problem is he loves to run it on 1st downs. Everyone knows it so they stack the box - and he still runs it which consistently puts them at 2nd and long which is a failing strategy. I don't think the Rams will allowing Tmac or Cooker to get behind them again on 4th downs next Saturday. If they want to win, Bryce will need to step up. I do agree they will need the run game but I wouldn't depend on it for the win. The funny thing is I would have expected you to want Canales to put it in Youngs' hands. That would prove that he isn't the guy once and for all. Especially given the decision that will need to be made over the next several months.

Hell, I'd rather see Bryce Young there a this point.

Over the last 8 games, Rico and Hubbard, combined, are averaging 69 yrds/game and have scored exactly 2 TD's. They have also fumbled twice. That is not a formula for winning.

And don't forget that they called Jackson for tauting Mayfield which moved the FG from a 54 yarder to a 39 yarder while completely ignoring Tremble having a Bucs player rip his helmet off with a facemask. So talking to someone and hurting their feelings cost us 15 yards but ripping someones head off is OK. Given they admitted they got a call wrong last week already, it will be interesting to see how they address the shitshow that was yesterday.

Exactly. There was absolutely nothing creative in the run game. Just the same old sh*t, over and over. Reminds me of the saying: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Guess you didn't see the run game yesterday, or last week, or the week before that, or the week before that, etc, etc. In the last seven games, Rico has 288 yrds and 1 TD and Hubbard has 188 and O tds. That's 476 total yards and 1 td over the last 7 games. That's 68 yrds per game with only 1 td. Heck Bryce almost has as many yards rushing (134 ) as Hubbard and has as many rushing tds ( 1 ) as Rico and Hubbard combined over that period. Given the Bucs had the worst run game in the NFL under Canales, I would have to say the run game struggles here are just a reflection of Canales' weakness in that area.

The first game of the season against the Jaguars and thier new rookie HC starting his first game and Canales was outcoached. Against the Saints and their new rookie head coach he was outcoached - twice. Watching the last several games with the questionable play calling, to say nothing of the lack of any consistancy in any area, I'm starting to wonder if he is up to the task. Looking over his record with TB and Mayfield is interesting. Here are Mayfields numbers with Canales verses Coen. The highlighted row is with Canales. As you can see, Mayfiled improved significantly in every catagory AFTER Canales left: yardage was up by 500, comp % was up 7%, TD's were up by 13 etc. Then when you look at TBs' rushing numbers that year under Canales, it gets even worse as Tampa was dead last in rushing with Canales. DEAD LAST There is no doubt the Panthers have improved but I'm begining to wonder if Canales has hit his ceiling already.

I've changed my mind, get rid of Legette. Too many penalties, drops, poor spacial awareness, interceptions (remember the catch where the Saints defender simply pulled it from his arms for the int). Great guy and I wish him well but he's more of a liability than an asset at this point.

So you are telling us the that one of the highest paid CB's in the NFL leads in missed tackels AND penalties? How much is he getting paid again lol.

Appreciate the time you put into this. A couple of points, while Jackson has allowed more yards, he has allowed fewer TD's and he has a pick 6. It would be interesting to see how they have been trending. I would guess Jackson has been improving and Horn has either stayed steady or is trending slightly downward.

Seriously under appreciated. I do think he had a rough patch a while back but over the second half of the season, he has really come on strong.

Jackson has outplayed him when you consider passes defended and holding/pass interference calls. I think Jackson has 1 call against him while Horn has either 7 or 8 - and worse of all, they always seem to come on third downs.

Well I'm not sure it's all him. Seems to me he did have early problems but has worked hard to get his life right. Not really sure what to make of your post. All I did was ask AI what were some notable QB bust over the past few years and these are the names it provided. I didn't cherry pick anything. All I was attempting to do is illustrate the fact that physical attributes (arm strength, height, etc) are not gaurantees of success. Yes that does favor Bryce but that is the purpose of the post. I could have posted how Mayfield and Darnold were both failures with their first teams even though they have the physical attributes coveted only to finally find success later in their careers but that could be used to suggest Bryce just needs time much like they needed it. Would you have considered that ironically funny as well? And I see the scheme Canales has provided but I do not look at it as working around Youngs' weaknesses as much as it is working around a young, inexperieinced team still trying to figure each other out. Kind of like learning to ride a bike. You don't just throw your kid on it and give it a big push - unless you want to watch your kid crash and burn. The begining of the season they were on training wheels but as the season has progressed, and Young and the receivers have had time to work with one another, I have seen Canales open the playbook more. Seems logical to me.

Not sure I would agree Parsons is worth two first rounders and Kenny Clark and still needing to pay him a record setting deal (188M over 4 years). That is a LOT of capital for a single player. Maybe the Packers are that close to the SB and he will shine once they get there. I just have my doubts.
