  1. Its definitely in question. He "might" be the better college quarterback although statistically, they are almost identical for this past season. It remains to be seen who the better pro qb is.
  2. The only way we will know if we go fleeced is to look at this a few years from now. If we draft Young or Stroud, and they turn out to be the next Patrick Mahomes, it was a great deal. If we draft one of them and it turns out that the qb is a bust, and the Bears become a playoff contender, then we got fleeced. If both teams still suck, then it doesn't matter.
  3. Well, the risk here is extremely high. If it works out, we could be a contender for ten years. If not, we are going to give Chicago a bunch of high draft picks.
  4. Once Rhule left, several of them started playing better. Marshall, Hubbard, and Christensen began to look like actual NFL players.
  5. He hasn't said, and he probably wouldn't. But there is this. Lamar Jackson Contract: Baltimore Ravens 'Best Offer' Already In? - Sports Illustrated Baltimore Ravens News, Analysis and More Whether the reports are accurate or not is anyone's guess.
  6. Fwiw, I don't think you can accurately predict NFL success. You make an educated guess and hope it works out.
  7. Giants, QB Daniel Jones agree to four-year, $160 million contract (nfl.com)
  8. Probably not, at least when the other team knows you are going to run the ball. Or throw the passes short. If you look at the numbers from that day, no one had decent game offensively. Donta Foreman had probably his worst game of the year. I think the reason Cam was such a huge threat running the ball was that he could pass it pretty well to. In 2015, his deep balls were fantastic, which made his runs that much harder to contain. Same with Jackson I think. Take away the passing game, and he becomes just another running back.
  9. In fairness, Jackson was coming off the Flu, and there was about a 30-40 mile an hour wind blowing. Which essentially made it old school, run the ball and play defense style football.
  10. If we get a chance, I would take a shot at Stroud. Actually, think he is a better choice than Young because of the size. But that being said, those numbers are college numbers, and college numbers when he played on a team that had significantly more talent than their opponents. He was pretty good in college. Whether that xfers to the NFL is anyone's guess. But as I said, I hope we can draft him.
  11. I agree, and I am glad I am not the one making the call. Of course, we could make the deal, but wait to pull the trigger after the first pick is made, but the other team may not be willing to wait.
  12. If we move to three, we shouldn't pull the trigger until after Chicago makes its pick. Otherwise, someone might decide to make the Bears a big offer and we don't get one of the top two anyway.
  13. Unless someone makes Chicago an offer they can't refuse to move up to the top spot.
  14. If we had good quarterbacks, would we have thrown it more? I am not saying we are set at TE, but I find it difficult to judge based on the past 2-3 years.
  15. I am not sure if the comparison is really valid. We threw the ball less than 90 percent of the NFL teams. And we ran a lot, so blocking was at a premium. So it stands to reason that our tight ends are going to be fairly low in receptions.
  16. I am not saying we shouldn't draft him. I don't honestly know. But I don't think it matters how far he can jump.
  17. Don't really care how far he can jump. Can he thread the needle with a pass to a receiver while a defensive end is bearing down on him? If he can, then draft him.
  18. Mayo is nasty. All of it is nasty. That being said, if we draft him and leads us to a Superbowl victory, he can put Mayo on anything he chooses and I won't care.
  19. I have often wondered about this irt his actions. As my stepfather got older, he became harsher, used worse language, and was harsher with people, especially my mom. Aging and the various medications that old people have to take affect each of them in different ways. Would be interesting to find out if he acted that way when he was younger or got worse as he got older. Regardless, while he had to go, he helped bring football to the Carolinas, and provided me with some great memories watching the team. RIP.
  20. I still love College bball. In fact, I am going to a live game tonight. For me, its on par with the panther games as far as my interest. But I certainly understand dislike towards ESPN. IMO, they have damaged sports in many ways.
  21. I enjoy college basketball and I sometimes watch college football. So I watch the actual games on ESPN. But I avoid the sports news shows completely. And I rarely go to the website unless its to get some stats.
  22. And if he bulks up too much, it might impact his agility. Agility he might need given that in the NFL, the talent level is a lot more equal than it was at Alabama.
  23. If we do draft him, he needs to sit a year to become fully healed from the injury. Which means we would definitely need to sign a veteran.
  24. True. Also true of any other player we might draft in the early rounds.
