  1. Call me when one of these "panthers interested in trading for X player" twitter articles actually amounts to something.
  2. I think Dalton is done. But virtually every team in the NFL is a qb injury away from being terrible. I doubt KC would win 5 games without Mahomes.
  3. The backup qb getting released is prepping to tank?
  4. From a cap perspective, i dont think it matters much
  5. I am one of those who believes preseason is irrelevant but they both looked inept today.
  6. Unless something drastic happens (like an injury), Young is the starter and Dalton is the backup this year. End of story.
  7. When you are down by a couple of scores or more in the second half, you pass the ball more. And we were down by two scores in the second half a lot. For example, in the second Saints game, the second half play numbers were about even in terms of rushes vs passes. In the Giants game, we had more runs than passes. In the KC game, we were down by 11 at half, and ended up with more passes than runs. That being said, there were probably games in which Canales thinks he should have run more, such as the first Tampa game. It will interesting to see if we run more now that we might have a true two back system. Aside from 1 or 2 games, Sanders just didn't do much last year.
  8. Ok, that is a little funny. Guess they might need to add "don't hit the guy in the helmut" to his training.
  9. I thought that he received an unfair share of the blame when he was at Clemson. Their offensive line didn't play well, and when he was benched, the offensive production didn't improve significantly. Of course Klubnik was better overall and they did the right thing by naming him the starter. But DJ wasn't as bad as Clemson fans think he was, he just wasn't Watson/Lawrence level. And DJU had a fairly good year at Oregon St. He was awful at FSU. It will be interesting to see what happens to him now. And funny if he makes the team.
  10. I thought about that. Not sure about his punt return skills though. He didn't do a lot of punt returns at Colorado.
  11. You throw the ball to the guy who gives you the best chance to win at the moment you are throwing it. If the rest of the group is as good as we think, then we use Thielen as a Ricky Proehl type.
  12. Barring some trade or injury, there are four receivers guaranteed to be on the roster when we play Jacksonville. Thielen Coker Legette TMac. Assuming we keep 6, the other two spots are up for grabs. Renfrow looks like the favorite for #5, not sure about the last one.
  13. I will say that the long pass to Coker was great. Perfectly placed. Which shows he can still do it ocasiónly, but maybe not consistently.
  14. Are we good on offense? Ask me that around mid october.
  15. Uiagalelei just made a better throw for the Chargers than he did at any time playing for FSU.
  16. It may or may not be hot. The first preseason game had no impact on how warm his seat was.
  17. I think its more that there isn't much point in addressing the second or third string qb when you have so many more glaring needs elsewhere. Can't fix everything at once.
  18. Yet Twenty years ago, 55 or more was a significant risk. Now its somewhat common.
  19. 70 yards is not the concern though. If he can make it consistently from 65 yards, that means that anytime they get two yards beyond the 50, they are going to kick. Of course, the key word is consistently. Just because he made this one, doesn't mean he makes the next two or three.
  20. Let me see if I can do the over reaction right. Travis Hunter is a bust. He only had two catches in a preseason game against the other teams backups. Jacksonville should have taken the guy I like in the draft.
  21. Depends on the rest of the question. What back up QB gives us the best chance to win, if the starter goes out for a few games? That is a perfectly legitimate question. And if we get to the point where we are a consistent playoff contender, its a question we will need to ask/answer.
  22. If you are talking about Sanders, well this is a thread about Panther players, so he is not really a part of the discussion. But he made some sharp passes last night. Whether he can do that during an actual game is debatable, but he did nothing to hurt his chances last night.
  23. Other than that one, I don't remember any.
