Run Threat Rate -- is this good?
Davidson Deac II replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
That is the way I read it as well. We run or play action just over 60% of the time when we are ahead, and just over 50% when we are behind. That seems about right. My guess is that when we are behind or ahead also plays a role. Down 3-0 in the first quarter probably wouldn't matter. Down by 10 or up by 10 in the 4th probably changes things a lot. -
Imo, its unlikely he comes back "fully" healthy this year. More than likely, if he recovers fully, it will be in 2027. And he is not under contract with us in 2027. If I am correct, then there are several questions. 1. Would would we play a less than 100% Ikem at guard or rt? Or would we just sit him for the year? 2. If we sat him for a year, would we be willing to extend his contract for another year, or longer so that we get some benefit? 3. If we play him some, and he is ok, but not great, would some other team be willing to step up and pay him lt money on the hope that he eventually fully recovers. Lots of questions, and fwiw, he seems like a genuinely good guy, so it sucks that we are having this conversation.

I think most posters here have their positions regarding Bryce pretty well staked out. Nothing is going to change until the season gets going. I found this article interesting because of the comments about Stroud, Penix, and also Marvin Harrison Jr. Harrison was considered a generational talent and is now being mentioned as a bust. Yeah, he is on a bad team with a bad passing game, but even so its not good for a guy as highly touted as he was. I don't know how good Penix is, but the injury last year probably hurt his chances a lot. I think part of Stroud's problem is the talent shakeup around him, but his performance in the playoff's last year is going to be a big mental hurdle to get over.

Well, in fairness no much cares about the Falcons either. Yet they are on it. IMO, its a flavor of the moment. BY played fairly well in his last game, not great, but not terrible. But CJ played horribly in his last game, with 4 interceptions. And that is what most people remember, especially for CJ.

Getting a little stronger is not a bad thing for any qb, makes them a little harder to bring down. But I generally agree, getting bulked up for a qb is irrelevant. When I was in the Navy, I spent a few weeks around some special forces types. They all spent a lot of time in the gym, and they were in tip top physical condition. Yet none of them were bulked up. Bulking up is only necessary for linemen, and other positions where you have to push people around. Not really a thing that you want your qb doing.

The article is from April of 2025, so it would have been prior to the start of last season. So saying he hosted a few of his teammates last year would refer to the time prior to the start of the 2024 season, ie after his first year. The only place I have ever seen that comment was here and other social media sites. A google search returns nothing of substance. An google AI search returns the following. Until someone can show me some evidence that he actually said that he wasn't going to work out during the offseason, its just a social media rumor.

I have been here a while, and I was going back to similar arguments about Jake Delhomme circa 2006/07

He actually didn't say that. https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/bryce-young-talks-stability-panthers-host-voluntary-workouts-ahead-nfl-draft/5QNCLG5JKBFSZDTAVOY3OYLZWU/

So David Moore is making the 53?!?!
Davidson Deac II replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fwiw, its far more important how many and who we keep as backup offensive linemen imo. But I suppose talking about the #2 lt isn't quite as interesting to most people. -

I do wonder if other fan bases spend so much time arguing over who the 5th, 6th, and maybe 7th receiver will be. -
If changing minds is a requirement, then we should probably ban discussions about Panther QB's.

I haven't seen a bit of evidence that Tremayne or any of them are better. If they keep Tremayne and Metchie, it will be because they are younger, not better. -

The first four are locks, but after that, who knows. -
Do many people think Ty Simpson is the Rams qb of the future? Have to admit I only watched him play a couple of games last year, but he was not impressive at all.

Agreed. I think Canales's primary objective in everything he does is to make the team better. I don't think he has any particular attachment to Bryce. He was brought in, in part, to give Young every chance to succeed. And despite assertions to the contrary, Bryce has improved. Whether he improves enough to keep him after this season depends on a number of factors, but I don't think Canales would hesitate to upgrade if he saw a chance to improve at QB. For example, I think if Bryce struggles this year, but the rest of the team performs well, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see us take a qb in the first or second round.

the team has gotten better every year that Canales has been here. The thought that he might be fired is just social media gibberish.
