Purely your subjective opinion. -

I generally agree with the argument you’re making and hope we resign Burns but you can’t really compare a good DE/Edge to an Elite franchise QB, there not even remotely close in impact. -

I’ve been a fan of Scott but have to agree here. This would be (very panther esque) fug up. -
Damn was kinda hoping we’d keep Leota
-
IIRC that was WR/QB miscommunication

Bryces size is an outlier and it’s understandable to be concerned about it but let’s not act like he hasn’t already taken plenty of hard hits in the SEC. Cam was built like a tank yeah but it’s injuries that ultimately did him in, whereas you have smaller guys like Brees and Russ that had successful careers for 10+ years. You have guys like Kevin White that are absolute freaks of nature and look the part in every way but just can’t hold up in the NFL, then guys like Devonta Smith, Diggs, and Smitty that are undersized but end up elite number one receivers without any durability issues durability has so, so much more to do than just size - especially for a QB - pocket awareness and navigation, ability to get the ball out and make reads quickly, even *how* you fall and position your body before and after contact. Some guys are just outright better at minimizing risk when they take contact. I’m not saying size doesn’t matter, it does, I don’t think it matters any more or less than the rest of those other factors I just mentioned. the reality is we just don’t know. Until it’s an issue, I’m not going to worry too much about it . I’m stoked to have Bryce on the team.

Gotta disagree here, I follow the draft heavily every year and the only similarities Wilson shared with Bryce as a prospect is off platform throws and being able to play outside of structure. However there was concern even then about his maturity, ability to read defenses go through progressions. Bryce’s main selling point as a player and prospect is his poise and decision making. Neither were ever perceived as a strength for Zach. Whereas Zach relies on playing outside of structure to mask his weaknesses, Bryce plays out of structure to save broken plays. He’s shown more than enough ability to command and play from the pocket. Bryce has also shown he excels under pressure and throws with great anticipation, neither of which Zach really showed. Then add the difference in competition on top of that too. I don’t think anyone, myself included, has or had any questions about Bryce’s mental game and whether or not he’s mentally prepared for the NFL. The guys been preparing for it all his life and it comes across that way, the guy just oozes “natural leader”. It’s just a question of he can physically hold up at his size. no one was ever saying the same kind of stuff about Zach. He had crazy arm talent and off platform throwing/playmaking ability, but his ability to process the field and go through progressions was always a question.

Good god I completely forgot about the photoshoots. I loved all the extra team content, especially in the offseason, but I remember thinking even then that the photoshoots were kind of weird lol

Not gonna lie was kinda hoping for Mingo to go with 0

Gettis actually had a pretty promising rookie season, then he blew his ACL and was out of the league shortly after.

15 years on this board and that was probably my first lol. Idk why but the urge just striked

Cool interview. Some notes - Gives a little more detail on the visit with Mingo. Him and Morgan were just overall really impressed with how he generally carried himself and the presence he maintained in the conversation. Apparently Mingo likes to fish and ride horses. Maybe Luke and him can go fishing sometime, lol. - Liked DJ Johnsons motor off the edge - Likes the receiver room right now and sounds really impressed with Marshall in OTAs, said something about coaches coming in to him and being surprised at how good Marshall was (presumably OTAs is the first time any of the new staff has gotten on the field with them). Also mentions Shenault as "really coming on". - When the fact we didn't draft a TE's brought up, he brought up Tremble and how young he is, and how young he was coming out. Sounds like we might be planning to keep developing Tremble behind Hurst. -Likes the UDFA class as a whole and thinks 5-6 might push for a roster spot. Talked a little bit about Eku Leota specifically

Round 2 - The Carolina Panthers Select Jonathan Mingo - WR - Mississippi
Coheed replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t think it’s fair to write off TMJ yet. I was hoping for more at this point but he did have some flashes last year and was spent his first year under….that coaching staff who seemed determined to play him as little as possible. Much less bullish on him now but I think he can still be a piece and contribute -
If she’s the bullshit/ego detector, gotta wonder what she thought of Rhule back in 2020 lol. If you’re with someone long enough, you’re each gonna have some “i told you so” moments and my god would it be hilarious if Rhule was one of those for Nicole and Dave. Nicole: “hey Dave, remember when you forked out a historical 7 year contract for a used car salesman “culture builder” that I told you was full of poo? *Tepper touches his brass balls to self soothe*

Dude I don't even watch college football except for to watch prospects. I have no allegiences what so ever to any program. I was just pointing out that they gave Ojulari the number points to him being a high character, hard working guy. The Brian Kelly poo is irrelevant to the comparison of two prospects. How many players have we seen that have all the tools and traits fail in the NFL because they don't have the mental makeup for it? Literally countless. And stats are nice, but context matters too. -

Ojulari plays in the SEC Johnson plays in the PAC12 Ojulari is 21 Johnson is 24, will turn 25 in his first season (how old Burns is right now) Ojulari was a leader on his side of the ball and awarded LSU's No. 18 which is only given to standout guys that exemplify what it means to be a LSU tiger Johnson was caught on video sucker punching a fan Ojulari posted a 7.44 3 cone with a hamstring injury Johnson posted a healthy 7.33 They're not even close to the same level of prospect.
