I honestly doubt everyone understands that. Lack of common sense on the internet and all. Still you forget that 31 others teams are also jocking for his services. 1st and 2nd round prospect? Might be according to the talking heads on espn, but to someone like dave maybe not. Who knows. But still i think they did reach out to him, maybe not to the point they gave him a verbal bj like the cowboys.

just because he was good in college doesn't make him a certafied all pro in the nfl. I wish people got this. You can be paper champions and still fold like paper soaked in water once the season starts.

Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select Shaq Thompson
shreddingdefense replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Most all of the good ots were gone by our pick. Dave said in one of his pressers that no ot was worth being a lt, most all rt. So he should just reach for a player a few round earlier, that may not be any good, just because it is a need? You don't draft players in a round they are not worthy of being in. You dont pick 2nd/3rd round talents in the first. Same goes for wr, none of the ones left were worth being picked in the 1st. -
Official NFL Draft Round 1 Thread - General Chatter

I don't get the luck hype. Praised for comebacks in the 4th quater but put them in that position to almost lose in the first place by throwing bad ints. Guy is no peyton manning in his prime. Colts make their way into the playoffs simply because the rest of the divion is god awful. Yes i know we did so last year too. still. easy to have 8000 yards when all you do is pass. -

Nice pick. WR were not good enough to draft that high and all the good ot were coming off the board. If you remember, genttlemen talked about how he thinks most of the ots were only RT worthy not lt. we dont have a need at rt. Don't reach for a need. -

Why Gettleman is a GM... and you aren't.
shreddingdefense replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree actually. My point was more toward the people complaining that we didn't sign a top tier thus overpaying. I'm not opposed to signing someone when the dust settles which wouldn't harm our cap and thus the chance to resign luke/cam I don't want us to go overboard thus having what looks like to be a bright future with money to spend to once again be in cap space hell. Either be it this year, next, or after that. I want long term success not just one year and then fire sale because we spent too much. Surely everyone can agree on that? -

How can one have a valid point when they keep ignoring the lingering cap issues caused by the former gm and not the current? I don't mind signing a mid tier vet if they are worth it and wont be overpaid. Nor am i a guy that bitches when we don't sign a vet. Sure we had a loser record and managed to stumble our way into the playoffs. Do i like we made it in? YES..do i hate the fact we lost? Yes. Should we have been in the playoffs? No Even after drafting cam newton in 2011 and trading for olsen I formerly believe we still had no business sniffing the playoffs. Not because i'm a hater. But because i saw holes at other spots and knew it would take a few years to fix them and that others would crop up because of the cap problems and that overreacting and signing a guy way more than he is worth in free agency is not the idea way to do it. We will have more cap space next year and the year after that. If we still don't go after guys then? Then yes you, i, and others would have a point in complaining. Now? no. -
Gettleman: Oher can be answer at left tackle

How is the gm at fault for the hardy situation? Hardy was the one that dated a crazy chick. And enough with the steve smith stuff. He isn't the only player to be cut like that and he won't be the last. -

Once again ignoring the fact we were in cap hell last year and are this year too. Sure we could have reached for a LT in the draft or spent a mill for a ageing LT who no one else wanted. We didn't have the money in order to go get an all pro free agent LT..and getting an mid teir one would just be a simple stop gap. -

Dave could have reached for for a LT in the draft and we wouldn't have kelvin. Sure could have went after a free agent LT but who was there last year? Most likely we would have had to overspend for them and considering our Cap was less than it was this year i highly doubt we could aford them. A mid tier LT would have been fine. But chances are some other team overspent for them -

My point was that a gm shouldn't listen to what fans want. Once again we got a cap to worry about. I don't mind signing a mid tier wr or cb as long as we are not overpaying for him. And generally teams tend to do that the first few days of free agency. Patience is a virtue. -

I don't care about what the "majority" wanted and neither should a gm of any team or any businessman for that matter. Surely i wouldn't want to fit in with the majority..otherwise i'd be a cowboys fan... and no thank you. -

Sometimes the only way to get a point across to people is to go to that length..otherwise they still don't get it -

We won back to back nfc south titles and are hamstrung by the amount of cap space we have. All in part do to the fact another gm on our beloved team overspent on players that didnt live up to expectations and still have to pay for them even after we let them go. We can't go out and spend willy nilly just to please a few select fans. Remember we got cam and luke to deal out next year. Even if we did have cap space it would be ignorant to sign a guy just because he was all pro with another team. You gota account for how he fits our scheme and also that can get you back into cap hell if your not careful. Look at the cowboys, saints, bucs, etc as living proof of that. Signed big name free agents and then have to cut or trade them to get under the cap. Gettlemen is looking at the future of the team. Not just one year. -

maybe, but there is a shop in california that houses a warehouse full of parts that never got assembled. You can even by a ''newer' hybrid model with increased hp. What is funny is that the original model couldnt reach 88 mph.

One of the reasons i don't like the amazing spiderman movies. I feel as though the soul of spiderman or atleast the lore is ripped out if you don't include that character. Hard to explain.

He can still say he is in the movie, just not seen, drving the delorian.
