RIP: Ben E. King

Ben E. King, originally from Henderson, NC and one of the lead singers of the Drifters, passed at 76 in NJ.

"Spanish Harlem," "There Goes My Baby," "Save the Last Dance for Me" and "This Magic Moment" showcased his doowop skills and were all hits.

But perhaps his best was "Stand By Me." which was a hit twice 25 years apart when it was originally recorded in 1961 and was a hit again when it was re-released with the movie of the same name.

Truly a cornerstone in American music history- he will be missed.
